This hitch is rated for a gross towing weight of 20,000 lbs and a tongue weight of 5,000 lbs, giving it the muscle to pull large 5th wheel trailers without flinching. The gray powder-coated steel resists corrosion and stays dependable through years of heavy towing. For anyone hauling serious weight across long trips, the solid build of this hitch gives an immediate sense of control and stability.
The Companion uses a pair of 1-inch-thick jaws that lock completely around the king pin for 360-degree contact. That solid wrap is what keeps chucking and rattle to a minimum so the ride feels quiet and secure instead of loose or clunky. Under the head, polyurethane bushings cushion movement and soak up road shock. Combined, the thick jaws and bushings give you a smooth, controlled ride even when towing heavy loads over rough pavement.
Unhooking on uneven ground can normally be a hassle, but the cam-action latch handle takes the fight out of it. This mechanism releases cleanly even when there’s pressure between truck and trailer. Once you move the handle to open, driving slightly forward frees the jaws without wrestling them loose. Built-in pin and clip secure the handle closed while towing, or you can add your own padlock with a 5/16" shackle.
Getting the trailer level is easy thanks to pivot arms that let you fine-tune both height and front-to-back position. The height adjusts from 16-3/4" to 18-3/4", so you can dial in clearance over the bed rails while keeping weight distribution right where it belongs. The fully articulating head also pivots front to back and side to side, helping you line up smoothly even when terrain or approach angles are off.
When you’re not towing, you can pull this hitch out quickly for full bed access. It drops into four receiver pucks built into the underbed system—no bulky rails left behind. The head separates from the base, splitting the roughly 150-lb assembly into manageable pieces you can lift without special tools. That modular setup makes it practical for anyone who switches often between towing duty and daily truck use.

This GM factory under bed mount hitch is fabulous. I went from a Slider other brand to this and cannot believe how much better my 5th Wheel Redwood tows. No more clunking and severe jarring that I had been getting. This hitch is fabulous.
This hitch is very well designed and sturdy. I have owned 5 or 6 fifth wheel hitches over the last 30 years and this one is the best one. The most significant aspects are the relatively quiet ride and easy hitching and unhitching. The hitch release lever works very easily but my one complaint would be that it is a long reach to fully open the hitch release lever. I installed a step on the side of the box to solve that problem.

We have towed our trailer over 12,000 miles and the hitch continues to work flawlessly.
Packaging of hitch needs to be better. Box did not hold up. Hitch was loose and bounced around in box. Holes in box. Small hardware box opened up and scratched up main base of hitch.
I received my new B&W Companion Hitch Assembly and installed it on my new Truck.
Perfect fit, and very easy to install.
Plenty of clearance for my bed cover, so I can leave my hitch in place, when not in use.
I appreciate the help from you guys in answering all of my questions, very helpful.

The hitch came in 2 boxes & both boxes were destroyed in shipping.... Someone tried to tape them up but they were very mangled..... I just hope all of the parts to assemble the head to the frame are all there..... Their was no paperwork / directions in either box as I guess it came out & was lost....
Bought this hitch after comparing different ones for GM's new puck system.

Purchased this per recommendation from Jared. This thing was a direct bolt in for my truck as he said it would be. Took me less than an hour to assemble and install. This hitch is incredibly heavy duty for my purposes of towing my new 5th wheel trailer. This thing is going to be instrumental over the next few years for me. Even took a picture with it looking good in my truck!
Finally got Box 1 of 2 today and was easily able to assemble the hitch for my '19 GMC 3500HD with the puck system. The hitch is heavy but extremely well built. Easy to install and remove.

Heavy duty well built 5th wheel hitch
Great Hitch, secure latching and quiet on the road. (No Chucking, unlike the bolt on hitch in my last truck). It is relatively easy to remove and re-install - I'm 67!
I have a small problem Unhitching when there is any pressure between vehicles, the jaws will not let loose unless holding the release lever open as I pull away.

I’m excited to tow with my new B&W hitch. Fits perfectly and assembly was a breeze. I like the amount of adjustment both vertically and horizontally. Locking the hitch to the frame with the puck system is great! Item shipped quickly and was packaged well! I’ll be ordering more products from etrailer!
I installed the hitch in my 2018 Chevy 3500HD DRW last night took around an hour. overall the quality is very good on the B&W Companion hitch and it fits into the factory puck system perfect. I have it set on the highest setting but still have to hook up 5th wheel to see if this is correct position or not to give me the correct clearance. Looking forward to trying it out this weekend. The package arrived on time and no damage.
I am very happy with the B&W companion for my GMC with the OEM puck system. It was easy to install and is going to work great on my truck. I was worried about clearance with my bakflip bedcover on my 6.5 bed but it all worked out great.
The photos, videos and Q & A really helped me make good decision so etrailer is going to continue to get my busness.
I have a 2018 GMC 3500 6 1/2 foot bed with the factory fifth wheel prep package. I just bought this fifth wheel hitch and towed with it once but it fits perfectly and tows beautifully, is very well built and is USA made. MAGA!! I have it set over the axle and have plenty of clearance because of the tapered front cap on my trailer. No bucking of jerking like the Reese titan hitch I previously had although it was on a slider. Awesome hitch don't hesitate to buy it.
Easy setup and installation! I love being able to remove it from my truck in two pieces! Definitely a back saver!
The hitch works very well, the only thing I didn't like is one of the handles for the headpiece is welded a little off. It's like this is a factory second. You can see that the one is not parallel.

You mentioned that it seemed like the handles were welded a little off. I reached out to B and W, who advised that this is something that can occur during shipping. The best solution at this point would be to use a rubber mallet to make the handles level

I love that it came in 2 pieces. Only pulled my Trailer one time so far. I do plan on going on a 2 month RV trip very soon. My son and I installed it. Just measure your 5th wheel trailer height.

My fifth wheel hitch is working great Pull a 39 foot fifth wheel with a trailer behind it
After 6 months to a year finding a hitch, I decided to purchase the B&W. I reviewed several, talked to fifth wheel owners on what hitch they had, and the majority recommended the B&W. From it's easy to install and remove (if needed), how the hitch is built, It's heavy duty and looks like it's a hitch and rated for the 20k pounds compared to others out there on the market today, great customer service from both B&W and etrailer, I went with it for that reason. Now, after a year of use and 2 dozen pulls or so with it, no complaints. Had to make a small adjustment to it, to stop the "porpoising" affect, and after that, I have a nice smooth ride while towing our Montana 3700LK.
I purchased this hitch to connect to the Chevy factory prepped 5th Wheel kit for a new 2017 Chev Silverado 3500 dually. My previous truck/ hitch combo (2015 Chev Silverado 3500 single axle 6.5’ bed w/ Reese Pro Series) used industry standard rails and there was quite a bit of movement in the entire hitch assembly and king pin area resulting in significant chucking on the horrible So. Cal. freeways. The B&W hitch was one of two recommended by the professionals at etrailer. I could not be happier. The hook-up is very easy & the overall operation of the hitch is much easier & simpler than my previous hitch. The 1” thick jaw makes a secure connection to the kingpin and the overall ride has smoothed out significantly. Great product so well liked that my son found a used one for sale and snapped it up for his rig.
So far it went in the tow vehicle without any issues. However, I really won’t be able to really test it until end of month when I get the trailer. So far so good.
Get product fits perfectly in the oem slots and pulls my toy hauler like a dream. Shipping was fast and installation was simple with a little extra muscle! Thanks again for such a great product
