Video Transcript for What to Know About the Air Lift Union Tee for 1/4" Air Lines

Today we're gonna be taking a look at Air Lift's Union T-piece for quarter-inch air lines. And there are two main reasons you may want this unit when installing airbags. You can use it when installing a compressor to tee off and give yourself a manual inflation valve or like we're using it here on this truck to take the left and right side airbags and bring them into one so we can fILL them up simultaneously. We've got ours installed here so our inflation valve is coming out the center of the tee and the two coming off the sides go to both our left and our right side airbags. You may prefer this setup if you just want to quickly air up your airbags simultaneously. Now, you are going to lose the ability to air the up independently from side to side. That's gonna be important if you're trying to adjust for uneven loads.

You may want them to be different on one or the other. But if you're not really using it for uneven load purposes, this is going to make airing them up and deflating them much quicker if you're constantly hooking up and removing the same trailer over and over that doesn't need left and right load leveling. On our Air Lift compressor systems, it already comes with one T-fitting to allow it to air out both bags simultaneously, but if you want to add a manual inflation valve to it, you'll need a second T-fitting here. This can be installed anywhere between your air compressor and airbags in line on any of these quarter-inch airline hoses that's gonna be run. You just simply place it in between and have the center one go out to your manual inflation valve. Now, we'll show you how you connect and disconnect airlines form this fitting. It's a click-connect fitting, so you simply just push them in.

But to release them, the end here actually slides inward, and I'm using a eight millimeter wrench to do this. You just need something that'll push in on both sides. So, it pushes that in evenly and that'll allow it to release, and the hose just simply slides out. To put it in, you simply just push it in. And I like to kind of push it in and pull out a few times to make sure it's fully seated.

And as you can see here, if I'm not pressing in on that collar there at the end, I cannot pull this out. It automatically locks itself in place. And that completes our look at Air Lift's Union T-piece for quarter-inch airlines.

Sent wrong air suspension kit. 88230 is for 2004 Dodge RAM 1500 4WD. I need kit 88257 for 2004 Dodge RAM 1500 2WD. They have completely different rear axles and mounting hardware. I'm gonna miss my move day unless I hire a transporter for $500+. Not mention 5 hours of blood sweat and tears gone forever that could've been spent fishing!

Well,
There's really not much to say
about a "T" in an airline. It can be used as an entrance point for an existing airline or, it can be used as a junction for two airlines to one. I used it for the latter. I recently installed an Airlifter 5000 series air bag kit and I determined there was no need to TWO air Schrader valves for the filling of each side. I ordered the T and combined the two lines into one, then only have one air fill Schrader near my rear license plate. It fills both bags at one time. I'd recommend it.

You say there’s not much to say, but you actually shared a lot with us :) What are you going to be hauling?

@GwendolynY A 2018 Honda Goldwing Airbag DCT model. That motorcycle tips the scales at 840 lbs. The bike is hauled up into the bed via a Rampage motorcycle lift/carrier. Altogether, there’s around 1,200 lbs in the back of that Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4. Hence, the need for airbags.

This set of airbags work great. It was not a perfect fit.the bracket on one side did not line up correctly. Called customer support and they confirmed. They advised to heat and bend the bracket. After bending it, so it would fir, it worked fine. Should have been a 3 star due to the fit, but customer support was great. It's a good thing we were handy and had a torch.

by:

Quality control of which items were ordered needs to improve! Suspention parts delivered would never fit the vehicle on the order. The cost of installation doubled because the wrong items had to be removed for an additional charge. After multiple corrections the cost of labor exceeded the value of the vehicle- the truck was scrapped. Today, parts remain on my shelf. Paying shipping to return parts would be the final customer insult.

by:

Install went as expected. Having a good (proper size) torque wrench is important, alone with a hydraulic jack to lift the body of the truck. Would highly recommend.

by:

Re: 2000 Toyota Sienna: Not physically possible routing air lines above bladders through unibody frame and Teeing them together for clean installation and single Schrader inflation as I had hoped. Did not bother returning item. Would be excellent product for different application

by:

Installed Firestone Ride rite air bags and used the Air Lift union T to go go down to one line. For the first time in my life I installed something that didn’t leak anywhere! Peoria great and highly recommend it.

Now that's something to celebrate about! I think you deserve it!

by:

The job turned out good. And the air line Tee works great. I give it a 5 star.

by:

These Airlift products are terrific and the Airlift 5000 air springs that are now on the rear of my 2024 Tundra really helped level out the truck when burdened by a travel trailer. The softly sprung truck snagged a little despite a properly adjusted weight distributing hitch and being well within load limits. The air springs needed only 30 psi of air pressure to eliminate truck's sagging rear end. The truck's ride is a little firmer, but is quite acceptable.

I also had the the air springs installed by a company suggested by etrailer.com and they were very good, with reasonable prices and excellent service. (4X Off Road in Vista, Calif.)

by:

Perfect solution for "single inflation point" of your air bags!

by:

Worked great to allow me to use a single air fitting for both Air Lift 5000 helper springs!

by:

you sent me (2) 5/8-11 lock-nuts. The install requires (2) 5/8-18. I had to run to the hardware store to get the correct ones.
When I placed the order your website said I need to buy the spacers for a truck with a Z71 package. So I bought and install the spacers. That caused the truck to bottom out when hitting the smallest of bumps because there was no travel. I removed those and the ride is awesome. I decided not to use the tee union. I may install it later. I like the thought of having more control over each individual side. if it had a check valve to keep the air from passing back and forth between the bags it would have been installed.
I will be returning the spacers.

by:

I never received my T-fitting that I paid for with my airlift 5000. The airlift works great.

by:

This part is needed if you gang the two airlift bags together. the quality is great and never have I had a leak with it.

Gang gang, Scott!

Purchased the Air Lift Union Tee to replace a plastic tee that came with the airbag kit. the metal tee is superior in all aspect's quality and craftsmanship.
I don't worry about the part breaking because of heat or road debris.
Satisfied customer.

by:

Worked perfectly with the Airlift 5000 kit. Only wish it was part of the kit and not a separate purchase...otherwise a great value.

by:

Order arrived very quickly and was being installed 2 days after hitting the order button. Contrary to what I was fully prepared for, this kit did NOT require any drilling on my 2007 F250. I did cut my U-bolts shorter and did have to cut off a rivet for the bracket (it gets replaced by a bolt). Install was smooth as butter and the kit is clearly high quality. Thanks etrailer!

by:

This tee made it easier to use for one valve stem at the back bumper to air up the air bags evenly with the same air pressure., plus I think it looks better then two valve stem on the bumper. I would recommend this to others.

by:

The air lift union tee is working good now for 4 days since being installed on my 2012 Honda Odyssey! No complaints here!

@Vincent Perfect! You want to leave at least 5 psi in the bags at all times....

by:

Worked just like advertised ????

by:

Exactly what I ordered and fast shipping….enough said

by:

I installed this system on a buddy’s truck about a year ago for towing his travel trailer and he loved it. So when I got my 2023 F150 I knew that I would eventually want a set. That time came as soon as I put my 1500lb golf cart in the back!
System was super easy to install. However I suggest removing the rear wheels. Made the job so much easier. I went with a T for the air lines so that I could utilize easy, balance bag fill and empty. There’s already a hole in the license pocket of the rear bumper in a great location so all I had to do is drill through the plastic cover. Pictures are with 70 psi in the bags.

by:

Should have plumbed it this way to start. Now have both lines into this T and put the fill line in the bumper..great service and delivery as always

by:

Instructions are clear and easy to follow.Quality of product is great . Delivery was on time. Amy with e trailer was great keeping me informed of shipment

by:

I have been installing accessories for customers since 1985. Your kit is well thought out, easy to install and well made. Certainly a great improvement to the light duty F-150.rear suspension.

Trailer suspension uses different components for the air systems than the frame mounted suspension you are looking at. For your tandem axle Keystone Montana, I recommend the Lippert Components Trailair by Center Point Air-Ride Suspension Upgrade - Tandem Axle # LC1565391 which will give you adjustable air pressure in the form of an equalizer for your leaf springs. • How To Remove the Air Line From the Air Lift Union T-Piece Part # AL21838
Keeping the airbags at the 5 psi minimum while not in use will allow the bags to retain their shape properly and not end up folded over or in any other position that might cause a portion of the bag to wear out prematurely. I am curious as to how you are measuring the amount of air in the airbags. I would also like to see a photo of the airbags installed and inflated to 5 psi while on your truck. If you can provide me with this information I may be able to provide further advice.

  • Union Tee Size for Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs
Hey Stephen, What you're looking for is the Air Lift Union Tee for 1/4" Air Lines # AL21838. This will give you the ability to tie in the air lines from both air bags on the LoadLifter 5000 # AL49DQ into one fill port so they are both even. Hey John, If you're wanting to run both air lines from the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers # AL88289 you most likely can get away with cutting a short length from one of the lines to run from the tee # AL21838 to the now single Shrader valve, but it really depends on where you mount the valve and how much you have to route the lines through. Great question, Dave! The Air Lift kit, part # AL28FF, that you are looking at is specifically for the ZR2 model. The other kits that Air Lift had for that Year of 2500 don't fit the ZR2 model. You are also correct in that Firestone doesn't offer air bags with internal jounce bumpers, which is part # F2613. Personally, I would go with the Air Lift option. • Will Air Pressure Transfer Between Air Bags With Union Tee Installed
Installing the Union Tee # AL21838 with your # AL57575 will tie the pressure of the two air bags together. So yes, a shift in a very heavy load like a truck camper will potentially result in air being forced from one into the other. The reason I say potentially is because it depends on the pressure you are keeping in the air bags. If you have them both at the max 100 psi I would expect full support between the two. If you are keeping them at 95 psi there won't be much room for pressure...
