Sleek and Stealthy Towing: Completely Hidden Design

Ever worried about a hitch ruining the clean look of your car? The EcoHitch Invisi has you covered. Its completely hidden design means the cross tube is out of sight, fitting snugly behind your vehicle’s body. When not towing, the receiver hides behind a factory knockout panel, preserving your car's sleek aesthetic. Perfect for maintaining that showroom look without sacrificing function.

Eco-Friendly and Mighty: Recycled Alloy Construction

Feel good about your purchase—both for its performance and the environment. Made from a robust metal alloy that combines aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, the EcoHitch is crafted using recycled materials. Traditional steel hitches contribute to gas emissions, but this hitch helps reduce your carbon footprint while offering durability.

No Sweat Installation: Bolt-On, No Drilling Required

Want an easy install without a trip to the shop? The EcoHitch features a straightforward bolt-on installation, requiring no drilling or welding. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or a first-time installer, getting this hitch onto your vehicle is a breeze, even without lifting your car or removing mufflers entirely.

High Performance Under Pressure: SAE J684 Compliant

Drive confidently knowing your hitch meets the Society of Automotive Engineers' J684 towing safety regulations. This hitch withstands rigorous strength testing using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to pinpoint and fortify areas under stress. It’s a hitch that doesn't just meet expectations—it exceeds them, ready to tackle the road ahead.

Powerful Towing Capabilities: Class III, 2-Inch Receiver

Ready to haul your bikes, trailers, or cargo carriers? The Class III EcoHitch supports a maximum tongue weight of 525 lbs and a gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs. Its 2-inch receiver accommodates a wide range of accessories, making it a versatile choice for all your towing needs, from pulling a trailer to carrying a bike rack.

Superior Rust Resistance: Black Powder Coat Finish

Keep your hitch looking fresh, no matter how rough the conditions. The EcoHitch boasts a black powder coat finish for superior rust protection. Travel through heavy rain, snow, or mud with confidence knowing your hitch will remain resilient and rust-free.

Solid item, 2” receiver means I can fit most things that would fit a hitch on any average truck that isn’t a Class 5 or something.
Good pull and tongue weight, good fit and finish.
Install wasn’t bad, having a second pair of hands to hold it is nice, get a few threads in first to help hold it if you’re by yourself.

You are definitely getting good use out of your hitch! Well howdy kitty, I must know the kittys name?

by:

This was my first mod and I love it! It gets lots of appreciation from others too, because it's so slick & friends have asked about getting one for their cars because of the excellent clearance. When the rack isn't on, I can even cover the access to the receiver using an OEM part, but it's not really noticeable without that. SO glad I got this!

This is a great conversation starter… lots of people are surprised that my wrx is pulling a trailer. I use the hitch so much it’s great. I like the fact that it’s hidden. Would definitely recommend to all Subaru owners.

I am glad it was an easy install, and it does look great on the vehicle! What are you planning on using the hitch for?

by:

Super solid hitch for the WRX. The installation instruction video I used was solid, and I know my way around a wrench but it is a bear to install. I managed to do it by myself but be prepared to lose the bulk of a day putting it in. It would've been easier with somebody else helping hold it in position while attaching. Note: The kit already comes with the threaded bolt fish-tape thing so you don't need to go find one. Following the install, it held a motorcycle hitch rack with a TW200 (little dual-sport bike) on some road trips and worked flawlessly as well as pulled a little utility trailer around for errands.

by:

After a little over a year on a '19 WRX, and using it nearly twice a month for a small toy trailer. I'm extremely happy I choose this over the other, more visible options. The only issue I can for see someone having, is the depth/length to which the receiver can accept a trailer hitch shank. Only if you have a non standard, 2" trailer hitch ball, with a longer than normal shank, it may hit the spare tire well.

by:
2019 Subaru WRX

This was on the only hitch receiver option that I could find that used the factory knockout on my 2019 WRX. I really did not want to use an under-mount receiver because of reduced clearance. Also, it would place my bike rack too close to the exhaust.

Installation was fairly complex compared to the last receiver that I installed (on a different vehicle). However, I expected this after viewing the installation video. The video was very helpful.

I have been very happy with the product so far. Placing a locking hitch pin is a bit of a pain, but I plan to leave my bike rack attached to the car most of time, so this is not a big deal for me.

New to the whole hitch thing on a 17 wrx. I can say it is lightweight but durable hitch. I can say that do to how it was shipped and tossed around. I do wish that it was package.A lot better. It looked like mine was a return and reshipped style. There was no directions that came with it, to inform me about torque specs or how to install. I'm glad for the video that is on the site. I can say you are looking about 3 hours of install. I found the little rubber grommet (look at pictures) off to the side, Underneath the bumper is a good spot for your wiring harness.
After 30 days of use, I will update my review.May 30 2025
They won four stars due to a coin flip. The way it was packaged and no instroptions is big in my books.

by:
2017 Subaru WRX

Install went well enough, the hardware inside the frame rail was a bit tricky by myself but not impossible. The fitment overall was pretty decent given all the geometry it has to fit around. My only real complaint is the back of the receiver is up against the spare tire sheet metal, I couldn’t get the receiver tube far enough away from it. I don’t think there will be any movement between the 2 to rub a hole or anything but I’d like to see a gap there. It’s totally invisible with the plug installed in the bumper cover. And high enough that my bike rack is above the exhaust and won’t soot up my wheels.

by:

The fit is perfect. Following the video, installation took about 2 hours. I use it only to carry bikes on my 1up bike rack. This rack works well because you don't use a hitch pin, it's very hard to place the pin. Would recommend this WRX hitch over any other, the only thing hanging below any WRX in the rear should be nice sounding pipes! The picture shows the only body mod I had to do to get a perfect fit, just to make sure hitch didn't rub the rear body.

Its been a great year using this hitch, no issues at all, still solid as day 1. No weird sounds and a perfect fit. When my bike racks not on you dont even know its there, and the clearance this gives is great.

Thanks for sharing a reasonable timeline for a one person job - I think thats helpful info for others who may read this. Thanks for sharing a photo, too. The Subaru looks cool!

by:

Simply amazing!
No rattles, great fitment
and above all a great video delineating all the details on every screw and clamp removal. I did this on my own without raising the car on jack stands or even dropping the rear hanger bushing. Total install time thanks to the video was under 2 hours and that included cleanup!
Also the hitch was delivered quickly so I got a jump on it before the weekend came. Very happy with etrailer and this hitch. I’ve gotten a few from etrailer already including one for my S2000 a few years ago that worked perfectly.

Thank you

by:

I’m not home to see the hitch yet but couldn’t wait. The customer service and shipping here is incredible!!!

by:

I have a 2017 Subaru STI and this fits like a dream. Make sure you have a 2-3 hours to do this because the entire back of your car needs to come off but it's definitely worth it. Only the ball hitch is visible when you choose to haul something. Any other time it's invisible. Peep the pics

by:

I like it a lot. It’s nice how if I don’t want it to be seen then I can take the ball out and out the cover in and nobody will know I even have a hitch. But the hitch has worked great. My only issue is it’s difficult to get the pin in for the ball hitch but that’s a minor issue. And I expected that from getting the hitch that’s hidden. So I have no complaints.

by:

I'm very happy with this product, and it met my expectations. I usually load up a rooftop tent for camping, so that leaves no room for my mountain bikes. I wanted to make my WRX more capable to being an overall great car for outdoor activities by adding this ecohitch. Now I can also add a basket to load more cargo if necessary. Installation was easy to follow, and I recommend having at least one person to help you. It will make the installation process a lot easier. I also found the etrailer installation video very helpful and easy to follow.

2021 Subaru WRX

In the first year of owning this trailer, it has been with me from Florida to Maine carrying coolers on a platform, it has brought our bikes to Georgia, and hauled loads of mulch.

The install on my ‘21 Subaru WRX STI was straightforward and I had no issue at all following the provided instructions. It perfectly aligns with the cutout in the bumper and is perfectly invisible when not in use, just as advertised.

I have nothing but the utmost confidence that this trailer will last the lifetime of my car or longer with its sturdiness and reliability.

by:

Service and delivery timeframe are above and beyond. Ordered a Saturday evening., shipped on Sunday, received on Tuesday a day early. Excellent communication from who received order, packed order and shipped order.

by:
2020 Subaru WRX

Absolutely amazing trailer hitch, very easy to install and very robust unit. Quality material was used, I feel like I could load up a car hauler and drag around stuff in my WRX. This will be used for a bike rack but during the install I said “this is overkill but for the price, it’s worth it”. Would recommend this to anyone. Someone with e 10mm, 14mm, and a 19mm socket could easily install this on a nice day with a drink of your choice.

by:

Great product! Definitely recommend that you have two people to install it

by:
2017 Subaru WRX

My hitch was not packaged properly and had damage upon opening. See pictures. While I’m fairly certain this damage doesn’t affect the operation of the hitch, it’s very frustrating to spend this kind of money and receive a hitch packaged with literally nothing protecting it. If you are buying from outside of the US be warned that they use UPS with no signature required and no packaging.

by:

The hitch was very difficult to install without a lift. I couldn't reach the exhaust hanger in the middle of the car and therefore the mufflers were in the way the whole time. The hitch works great and it's gone with the cover back on. The hitch was shipped in a box without any packing material which caused it to punch holes in the box as well as get all chipped and scratched up. Overall, if you get a lift and a friend (like the video says) and ignore the shipping damages, you'll be very happy having this very clean and useful hitch.

by:
2015 Subaru WRX

Solid product. Only complaint is the restricted access to the hitch pin. Not really a valid complaint because you can clearly see this will be the case before buying. Make a small cut away from the underside of your bumper and getting your hand is is doable but still not easy.

Overall happy with the construction and material available for technical support on the web.

by:

This hitch is incredible! Easy install if you have some background in working on cars because there is a lot to disassemble and reassemble. However the amount of work is so worth it to have this hitch hidden up behind the bumper.

by:
2016 Subaru WRX

Fits perfectly and install was straight forward! A ratchet strap is helpful in positioning the hitch during installation, and make sure to remove the two rear most exhaust hangers prior to installing so the hitch can slide in.

  • Is EcoHitch Invisi Hitch Receiver Available for a 2023 Subaru WRX
Hey Jeffrey, thanks for reaching out! The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH65SR is the only option from EcoHitch for your 2023 Subaru WRX. This differs from the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7257 you were looking at in that the Stealth has a removable receiver that sits below the bumper. When securing the Stealth receiver to your WRX there is actually a bolt you'll need to tighten down and you'll use that hole in your bumper you referenced to accomplish this. I...

Hey Judson, thanks for stopping by! Unfortunately the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7257 is not going to fit your 2022 Subaru WRX. Instead, you'd need to use a different hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C84ZV. This hitch is a class I hitch so it's not as robust as the EcoHitch, unfortunately, but depending on what you have planned it still could work fine! Let me know below what you have planned and I'd be happy to see if we can get you all worked out!

Hi Rick; looking at pictures of the diffuser along with the # 306-X7257 it is likely they won't interfere with each other. The screws for the diffuser and bolts from the hitch are in different locations. The only part I'm not sure about is where the brackets hang down on the hitch.
