Today were going to review part number 1779. This is the Redline Trailer wheel bearing. This is the outer bearing. These replacement bearings are a high-quality tapered roller bearing designed for high speed use. All bearings will have industry-standard number stamped on them regardless of the brand. For this one, if you look on the inner ring, its actually stamped right there 1779.
Now, the bearing you have when you get the number off of it, it could be a different number depending on the brand bearing you have. What you want to do is just give us that part number and well be able to cross reference it to the number we have to get you the correct-sized bearing. The other way is if you do not have the part number, you would have to give us the inner diameter measurement of this inner ring right here that fits over the spindle. To do that, you would need to use a digital caliper, which would read in thousandths of an inch because the measurement of that is given in thousandths of an inch, so a ruler or a tape measure would not work for that purpose. It has to be more precise.
If we take the internal or the inner dimension of this bearing, it would be 0.938 inches. Now, this bearing is made up of three parts. Basically, the inner ring which is the part that slides over the spindle on your axle, the bearings themselves -- the roller bearings, and the actual cage or roller retainer that holds the bearings in place. Now, the lubrication on a wheel bearing is usually with wheel bearing grease. In some instances, it could use oil.
Now, there is one other piece that is needed with this wheel bearing, and that would be the bearing race. The bearing race is the part that would install on the hub of your trailer, and it would allow the bearing to sit, and thats where the bearings would sit and rotate on the hub. Now, that bearing race is sold separately. For this wheel bearing, the part number you would need will be number 1729, and the critical measurement on the bearing race is the outer diameter of the bearing race. For that part number, the outer diameter would measure 2.240 on the bearing race.
That should do it for review on part number 1779.
