Expert Answers about Lubrimatic

  • How Much Grease is Needed in an EZ Lube Axle
  • I can help you with greasing up your EZ Lube Axle. First thing I would check would be that the grease is not coming out of the back of the axle through the seal. If this is the case you will need to replace the seal. Our tubes like # L11390 have 14 ounces which should be more than enough to fill your axle. You will want to continue to pump grease until you begin to see the outer bearing move or you see grease seeping through the outer bearing. Make sure you pump the grease slowly...

  • Best Wheel Bearing Grease for a Trailer
  • The highest quality grease we carry for wheel bearing is the LMX red grease like the part # L11390 that you referenced. If you are looking for a brand that is available in both a cartridge and a can you would want the part # L10321 for the can and part # L10320 for the cartridge. LMX Red is heavy-duty, premium grease for the toughest lubricating jobs on the biggest, heaviest equipment. It performs better under higher pressures and temperatures than standard multi-purpose grease, and...

  • What is the Recommended Maintenance Schedule on a Trailer
  • The recommended schedule to grease your wheel bearings is every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. You can use the red grease # L11390 for trailer wheel bearings if you wanted. You can also use wheel bearing grease # L11465 which is designed for use on trailer running gear, including wheel bearings. It also has a slightly higher temperature rating, 520 degrees, compared to 510 degrees for the red grease. When adding new grease you will need to make sure that the new...

  • Is it Advisable to Mix Different Types of Wheel Bearing Grease in Trailer Bearing
  • Certain types of grease are compatible with each other but since you do not know what type is in your trailer now we recommend that you remove the existing grease from your trailer wheel bearings before refilling them. Even if you know what type of grease is currently in the bearings there is some chance that the old grease may be contaminated from moisture. Cleaning out all the existing grease and replacing all of it with fresh is the way to go. I have linked an article that may be...

  • Do you Still Have to Repack Bearings Annually in Trailer if Using Bearing Buddies
  • Bearing Buddies do make greasing the hubs much easier but it is still recommended that you repack all of the bearing annually so that you can get all of the old grease and possible contaminants out of the hubs. I attached a review video on repacking and inspecting bearings as well. LMX Red grease is the highest quality grease rated for wheel bearing use. I would recommend going with that. For that you would want part # L10321.

  • Troubleshooting P.L. Error on Prodigy Brake Controller 90185 Installed on a 2005 Yukon XL
  • I would actually check the connection between brake controller and your factory port. Often you would see the P.L. if the connector wiggled slightly loose from where it is plugged into your junction box, especially if it is only happening once in awhile. Try unplugging the brake controller from the junction box port and let it sit for three minutes. When you plug it back in, make sure the connectors are firmly clicking together. You will need to reset the controller brake power and...

  • The RED grease is the best grease for trailer hubs. It's marine grade and the most heavy-duty grease around so its what we recommend the most. For that you would want # L11390. • When is it Recommended To Use Dielectric Grease When Wiring
  • We want to thank you for your recent purchase! You wouldn't need to use dielectric grease with a butt connector such as part # DW05714 (view video at the 1:16 mark) as electrical tape will work great. Heat shrinkable tubing such as part # DW05451 will help protect against the elements. It works with 14-18 gauge wire. Most trailer light wiring is 16-gauge. Once you have your wire inside the tubing you can use a heat gun, blow dryer and/or lighter utilize the heat shrinkable tubing....

Since the trailer in question has been used by a previous owner there is always the chance that there could be hidden wear on the internal components.
