Slip the L-brackets over the studs, snug the wing nuts, then tighten in a clockwise rotation. The studs are used for both top mount and underside mount and shouldn't be removed. Check the threaded pems—they aren't too strong—and make sure the wing nuts thread on cleanly before final tightening.
