Some include a built-in switch, and certain styles have a 2-position switch with a dim setting. Others do not have a switch, so plan a separate switch if needed. If you want the switch in a specific spot, confirm its location before mounting.
They put out strong, clean light for trailers and campers. A pair can fully light an 8.5x20 enclosed trailer with glossy white walls and ceiling. In a plywood interior, plan on using 3 spaced out on the ceiling. For detailed task lighting, 4 spread front to back gives broad, bright coverage.
Tie the new light's black lead to the existing +12V feed and ground the white lead to a suitable metal surface. If the old fixture grounded through its mounting screws, add a ring terminal to the white wire under a mounting screw for a solid ground. Confirm the circuit is 12V and polarity is correct before final mounting.
Match the footprint for an easy direct replacement. Verify wiring: white is ground and black is power. If your current light used the mounting screws for ground, run a separate white ground lead for 2-wire LEDs to a good metal surface. Lenses can fit tight; use a blunt tool at the cover slots to ease the lens off without prying the edge.
