Count on Optronics boat lights when you want a straightforward setup and reliable performance. On halogen docking styles, bulb access can be as simple as removing two front screws, and wiring is simple with a 3-terminal switch layout and the choice to ground to clean metal on the frame or directly to the battery's negative post. Installation is easy and replacements fit clean on retrofits.
Remove the 2 screws on the front of the light, then pull the assembly out of the housing. On the back, remove the small screw to access and replace the light assembly. Reinstall in reverse. If your light is a halogen style, handle the bulb with clean hands or gloves to avoid contaminating the glass.
Use the switch terminals for ground, power in, and power out. The top pin runs to ground, the middle pin supplies power to the lights, and the bottom pin goes to the positive post through a fuse. If powering two lights, split the power-out lead to each light. Disconnect the battery before wiring.
Grounding to the negative battery terminal is a solid approach on a boat. You can also ground to the frame if you have access to clean, bare metal free of paint, rust, or corrosion. If frame-grounding causes issues, run a dedicated ground wire directly back to the battery.
Mount the lights at your chosen locations and secure with the provided hardware if included. Disconnect the battery, run and cut the wiring to length, add terminal covers and terminals, mount the switch, then connect the wiring and reconnect the battery. After powering up, loosen the side bolt if present to aim the beam, then retighten.
