And instead of having to move to a larger vehicle, there's ways around that.



Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Ford Escape

Today on our 2016 Ford Escape we're going to be taking a look at the CURT 20 by 48 cargo carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. Part number is C18110. This CURT cargo carrier has a weight capacity of up to 300 pounds. We're going to start off by taking a few measurements just to give you an idea how it works with the Escape. The closest distance to the back of the vehicle is going to be . let's get it from the furthest point of the vehicle .. going to be about 6-1/2".



MaxxTow Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Ford Escape

Today on our 2016 Ford Escape we're going to be taking a look at the MaxxTow Cargo Carrier, 48 by 21 inches, for 2 inch hitches, Part Number MT70422. This is an aluminum cargo carrier, so it's nice and light. Since it's pretty flat, it's going to be easy to store in your garage or maybe in the trunk of your car. The raised edge that goes all the way around measures just about 2 inches and the frame of it at the widest point is about 5-1/4, so it would be pretty easy to put this up against a wall somewhere and keep it out of the way. I'll give you a few more measurements here. The closest distance to the back of our Escape is going to be just about 4-1/4 inches and the overall length that we've added to our Ford is going to be about 26-1/4.



Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Ford Escape

Today on this 2016 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the 23 x 60 Stromberg Carlson cargo carrier, part number CC-100. This cargo carrier has a carry capacity of 500 pounds. It has this mesh floor in the bottom here which makes it easy to clean. All around the cargo carrier we'll have these points here which will serve as tie down points for either your ratchet straps or your bungee cords. On either side we're going to have these smaller three holes here which you can install either a reflector or a tail light if you needed to and then there's these two holes here which in case what you're hauling blocks off your license plate you can actually transfer it down here. I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements now. Measuring from the bumper to this edge here it's going to be about 26 inches that we've added to the rear of the vehicle.



Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Ford Escape C18151

Today on our 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be taking at a the Curt 20x60 Cargo Carrier for 2 inch hitches, part number C18151. This cargo carrier has a weight capacity of 500 pounds and has an expanded steel floor to allow any dirt or debris to fall through, has a raised edge going all the way around, which makes a good attachment point for any straps or bungees to keep your cargo in place and that's going to sit up from the platform by about 5 and a half inches. The overall distance, we've added to the Escape from the back of the bumper there, is about 32 and a half inches and the closest point of the front of the carrier is going to be about 11 and a half. Although, this point in the shank would be the first thing to make contact if you we're to put that in the hitch too far. This one actually make contact with your bumper. The ground clearance at the back of our carrier, to the bottom side here, is going to be about 11 and 3 quarters of an inch off the ground. Now this Escape does have a dual exhaust which is going to come out pretty far away from this carrier. That's a nice thing about this folding style is that it sits pretty far from our vehicle but just to give you an idea of how far the exhaust actually is, it's going to be about 15 and half inches away.



Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Ford Escape C18150

Today on our 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be taking a look at the Curt cargo carrier, which is 20 by 60 for 2-inch hitches, part number C18150. This cargo carrier, again, has a dimension of 20 inches by 60 inches. It has a raised rail all the way around. Let me get a measurement on that. It's about 5 and a half inches, so it'll give you good stability for your gear going front to back there. Some other measurements are the closest distance to the back of the escape.



Carpod Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Ford Escape

Today on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're going to be doing a test spin of the Car Pod Walled Cargo Carrier. This cargo carrier is going to be 23 inches wide by 47 inches long and with it's sturdy, steel construction, is going to offer a 450 pound weight capacity. It does have a two inch folding shank that, once it's collapsed, will tuck against the back side of your vehicle. Again, with that two inch shank, you're only going to be able to attach it to your two inch receiver. It will attach to your two inch receiver using a hitch pin and clip. Today, on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Maxxtow wheelchair and scooter carrier. Now, this is going to be part #MT70106. It's going to be 30 inches wide, 50 inches long, and offering a 40 inch pivoting ramp. With its sturdy steel construction and its capability to plug into your 2 inch receiver, it offers a 500 pound weight capacity, as well as a folding shank that you can stow it away, and an anti-tilt/rattle device here on the back end. That's going to make it a lot more sturdy on the back side of the vehicle and not rattle around. So, let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement at about 10 and 1/8 inches.



Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're going to be doing a test fit of the CURT cargo carrier. This CURT cargo carrier is going to be part number C18151. It's going to measure 20 inches wide, 60 inches long, and with it's sturdy steel construction it's going to have a 500lb weight capacity. Now the nice thing about this cargo carrier is it is going to have to have that folding shank that will allow you to tuck it up against the back of the vehicle when you don't have it in use, and it's ability to plug into your 2 inch receivers using that 2 inch shank, so you can carry those higher weight capacities. All right, if you will notice down there where it is attached to our receiver, where the shank attaches to the receiver we're going to have a hitch pin and clip. Now, the hitch pin and clip is not going to be included, and if you would like to obtain one you can get it on our website, part number pc3. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance from the the back side of the bumper to the front side of the rack, at about 11 and five eights inches. Over all distance that we've added to the vehicle, about 32 and half inches.

Today on our 2015 Ford Escape we're going to be doing a test fit of the Curt Cargo Carrier. Now this cargo carrier's going to be Part #C18150, measuring 20 in. wide 50 in. long and with its sturdy steel construction is going to have a 500 pound weight capacity. It will have a fixed shank attaching to our 2 in. receiving or a fixed 2 in.



Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Ford Escape

Today on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier. It will be 23 inches wide by 60 inches long. It's going to offer a sturdy steel construction with a 500 pound weight capacity and a 2 inch shank connecting to our 2 inch receiver using a hitch pin and clip. Detail K2 20x60 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Ford Escape

Today on our 2015 Ford Escape we're going to be doing a test fit of the detail K2 cargo carrier. This cargo carriers going to measure 20inches wide, 60 inches long and with its sturdy steal construction it's going to offer a 500lb weight capacity. The unique thing about this is it will have that 2 inch shank for your 2 inch receivers only, as well as it folds up and stows against the back end of the vehicle so you don't have it hanging off the back side when it's not in use. Hollywood Racks Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Ford Escape

Today on our 2015 Ford escape we're going to be doing a attaching of the Hollywood Rex Cargo Carrier. Now this Cargo Carrier is going to be designed for attaching to the back side of two bike racks part number HR1400 and part number HR1450 the Sport Rider SE and SE2 models. This is going to be part number HR1485. When its standing alone in your 2 inch receiver its going to have a 200 pound weight capacity with this sturdy steel construction. This has a 500-pound carry capacity and has this nice mesh floor, which makes it easy to clean. It also has this rail all the way around the cargo carrier and that can serve as a tie-down point for either your ratchet straps or your bungee cords. It also has these stickers here, which are reflective, which will make it easier to see at night as well. I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements now. From the edge of the bumper to our outer edge here, that's going to be about 27-1/2 inches we've added to the rear of the vehicle. For our ground clearance to this bottom edge here, that's going to be about 14 inches. Our closest point will be this edge here; that's going to be about 6-3/4 inches from the bumper.

Rola 21x55 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2014 Ford Escape

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, we're going to do a test fit on the Rola 21x55 Cargo Carrier. Theyve designed this for use with inch and a quarter hitches and it offers up to a 300 pound weight capacity. Part number on it is 59507. To begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the carrier right into the receiver tube of our hitch. Now as we do, we need to line up our pin hole with our hitch pin hole. We can then take our standard inch and a quarter style pin and slide that through. Now the pin and clip are sold separately.



Curt 17x46 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2014 Ford Escape

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, we are going to do a test fit on the 17 by 46 Curt Cargo Carrier. Theyve designed this for use with an inch and a quarter or two inch hitches. Part number on it is C18145. Now when used in the two inch hitch, this carrier is going to offer us up to a 500 pound weight capacity. With the hitch we are using today which a class 2, we are limited to carrying 350 pounds, just keep that in mind. To begin our test fit, we are going to slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. We need to slide it far enough so that our threaded hole will line up with our hitch pin hole.

We'll just run through some of the features of it, show you how it interacts with your Escape so you can decide if this is going to fit your needs.



Surco Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2013 Ford Escape

Today on our 2013 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Surco 24" x 60" cargo carrier, part number 52018. To mount this carrier to our vehicle, we'll insert the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up the hitch pin holes and secure the carrier with the standard 5/8" pin and clip. Now we'll go ahead and go over some clearance measurements. We've got about 10" of ground clearance here at the rear of our carrier. The closest point of our carrier to the closest point of our vehicle is about 1-1/2".



Rola Dart Folding Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2013 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2013 Ford Escape, we'll be test-fitting the 23 x 56 Rola Dart Cargo Carrier with two-inch hitches, part number 59550. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank up the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and tighten with a wrench. Now, we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see how the cargo carrier and this vehicle will fit together. With the cargo carrier folded up, we have about 12 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three and a half inches. Now, we'll go ahead and pull the red handle at the top of the carrier and tilt the carrier down.
