Are Carpod # M2200 Cargo Carrier and Hidden Hitch # 87626 Compatible with 2012 Ford Escape

Are there any concerns with the Hidden Hitch 87626 and M2200 Carpod working on a 2012 Ford Escape 2.5L with Rear Sensor System? Will I have clearance to open the hatch on the Escape? If I am not planning on towing anything other than the Carpod, do I need the wiring harness part # 118551?

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame, # 75751, is the same as the Hidden Hitch you mentioned, and is compatible a 2012 Ford Escape equipped with back up sensors, but the sensors will need to be switched off or disabled before installing an accessory such as the Carpod # M2200.

When installed, there will be about 1-1/2 inches of clearance between the hitch pin hole in the receiver and the rear edge of the bumper. Since the Carpod M2200 has a shank whose measurement is longer than that, the Carpod Cargo Carrier will be perfectly compatible with both the hitch and the vehicle.

With the walls folded upward, there will not be sufficient clearance to open the liftgate.

Since you do not plan on using your receiver for towing, you do not need a wiring harness.

I have linked you to installation details for the hitch, as well as an install video for the hitch and a product demonstration video for the Carpod.
