What 24X60 foldup cargo carrier would you recommend for my 2012 Ford Escape..

Assuming your Escape has a 2 inch receiver, I'd recommend you go with the etrailer Folding Cargo Carrier, part # e98874. This carrier offers an angled shank for plenty of ground clearance and clearance between the carrier platform and the rear of the vehicle. The carrier can also be folded up against the rear of the vehicle when unloaded. Lots of features for a reasonable price. A cargo bag like # 988501 would be a good accessory to protect your cargo from road grime.

If you have the Class I or II 1-1/4 inch receiver, the carriers are a bit smaller due to the lesser capacity of the hitch. If this is the case, I'd recommend the 20x48 Curt Cargo carrier, part # C18110. The carrier doesn't fold, but it also offers plenty of ground clearance. To protect your cargo, you might be interested in a cargo bag like part # e98990. The bags are water resistant, but in a heavy downpour, some moisture still might find its way in, so anything that cannot get wet should be wrapped in plastic as a precaution.
