Today on our 2013 Ford Escape well be test fitting the Curt 20 by 60 folding aluminum cargo carrier, part number C18100. To begin our test fit well slide the cargo carrier shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install our hitch pin and clip. That will secure our cargo carrier to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. With the carrier in the stored position from the closest point on the carrier to the back of the vehicle measures three inches. Our ground clearance is 10 inches.
Well now go ahead and unfold the cargo carrier platform by pulling the pin, bringing the platform down and reinserting the pin, holding it in place. With our platform down, from the closest point of the carrier to the back of the vehicle measure s six and a half inches. The carrier will add an additional 26 inches of overall length to the vehicle. The ground clearance at the back of the carrier with the platform down is 12 inches. When opening our cargo door, the door does break over the platform at about 15 inches.
The exhaust on this vehicle does exit both the passenger as well as the drivers side here at the rear bumper. It is approximately 9 inches from the platform and does sit directly in line with the platform itself.
