Review of the Rola Dart Folding Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2013 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2013 Ford Escape, we'll be test-fitting the 23 x 56 Rola Dart Cargo Carrier with two-inch hitches, part number 59550. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank up the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and tighten with a wrench. Now, we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see how the cargo carrier and this vehicle will fit together. With the cargo carrier folded up, we have about 12 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three and a half inches. Now, we'll go ahead and pull the red handle at the top of the carrier and tilt the carrier down.

We then have a measurement of 16 and half inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about ten inches. We've added about 38 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. This vehicle is equipped with dual exhaust, coming straight out of the rear of the vehicle, and the measurement from the closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle's exhaust tip from the passenger and driver's side of the vehicle will be about 15 inches. The cargo door does break over the surface of the cargo carrier at about 17 and a half inches.

That completes today's test fit for the 23 x 56 Rola Dart Cargo Carrier with two-inch hitches, part number 59550, on the 2013 Ford Escape.
