While there is one hitch for your 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk that exits through the bumper, the # e73ZR does not, as the receiver will be below the bumper of your Jeep. The only option for a hitch that protrudes the bumper of your Cherokee Trailhawk is from Draw-Tite:
- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT28MR
I have added a photo of the # DT28MR installed on a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk so you can see exactly how it will look when installed on your Jeep.

Hey Tim,
Those are both great choices for getting your Cherokee flat tow-ready, however you'll also need a few more components to complete your setup. If you go with the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420 then you'll want to go with the Blue Ox Baseplate # BX1143 to avoid having to purchase any additional adapters.
The Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251 is one of my most recommended braking systems but is designed for hydrualic braking systems. If your motorhome has air brakes you would want... view full answer...
The older Lippert 13398-C2 Controller is compatible with part # LC236575 if your gear ratio is 300:1 as well as part # LC287298 if your gear ratio is 500:1 - both of these are for the round-round applications. If you have the round-square plate then that motor has become obsolete and you need a new system. view full answer...
So you definitely have a Roadmaster base plate kit on your 2015 Jeep Cherokee and the part # RM-ARMS is the correct part you'll need to get the replacement arms but we have to determine whether you have the part # RM-521447-5 or the # RM-521447-4.
The way you'll be able to tell is to look closer to where the kit attaches to the front of the vehicle frame. If there's an extra gusset where the steel beam connects to the flat plate you have the # RM-521447-5 or if the gusset is not there... view full answer...

Hey James, the base plate kit you'd want for your 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is the Blue Ox part # BLU76HR which works perfectly with your current Blue Ox base plate kit and has the removable arms you are wanting as well.
For a braking system the Demco Stay N Play part # SM99251 is a really great option and one that I would recommend highly. It's easier to install than most similar systems and also works really well. Our installers rate this as their favorite.

Hi James, thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the damage to your AC shroud. Storms like that can definitely do a number on rooftop equipment. We are here in Missouri and we had big thunderstorms roll thru yesterday - wonder if that was the same storm you got?
Anyway, we do offer a replacement shroud for the Dometic Penguin air conditioner. Based on the Penguin model 651516 you mentioned, the correct replacement should be part # DMC94MR. This shroud measures approximately... view full answer...
The connector to install an electric brake controller in your 2015 Jeep Cherokee is located behind a panel that is to the left of the steering column. They're often tucked up fairly far under the dash.
The connector will mate with the adapter # 3014-P that I've attached picture of.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional... view full answer...
To get a full flat tow setup on your 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk you need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring (including a charge line kit), a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. Here are the parts I recommend:
- etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98952
- etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e34ZR
- Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25
- Brake Kit # DM26VR for motorhome air brakes or # DM86VR for motorhome... view full answer...
It's pretty common for vehicle batteries to die when the vehicle is being flat towed since the braking system typically draws it's power from the towed vehicle to activate. This is a problem for nearly all systems including the Brake Buddy Classic but we do have a solution for this with a battery charge line kit # RM-156-75 which will complete the circuit on your tow vehicle so the charge line of the Brake Buddy will be active. view full answer...
I confirmed with my tech at Malone that in order for the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG215 to fit onto your 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, your vehicle's roof must be equipped with non-black raised factory rails. I confirmed with Malone that they say that the crossbars will not work with solid black raised rails.
Depending on how dark of gray your rails are, it is possible that those rails are considered black. In order to make sure, please feel free to respond to this answer with a photo... view full answer...
As you can see at the 1:20 mark in the attached video, the factory brake controller harness on your 2017 Jeep Cherokee will be located under the driver's side dash panel. The connector will be grey in color and positioned just to the left of where the brake pedal mounts to the firewall.
In addition to the video, I have attached a photo per your request of the harnesses location. view full answer...
The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR, uses a 12V powered remote that wirelessly connects to the 12V powered braking unit. This wireless remote has an inertia-based sensor in it that can sense the braking of the towing vehicle and communicates that braking need to the towed vehicle. The remote also give you a manual override feature like brake controllers do to allow you to apply the brakes in the towed vehicle as you determine necessary. It also has a light... view full answer...
Hey Bob, I appreciate all the troubleshooting you did so far but basically the short answer is that you need a new # C56208 as yours has an internal short that isn't repairable. These are designed to "jump on the grenade" of a trailer wiring short and prevent it from making it to the vehicle wiring and causing more damage there. In a way these are like a one time fuse for trailer wiring. The loose power wire does seem to have something to do with it potentially as well. view full answer...
Hey Peter, since you have a Roadmaster Sterling tow bar the base plate kit you'd want is the Roadmaster Direct Connect part # RM-521446-5 as your tow bar was not designed to connect to Demco base plate kits like what you mentioned.
For lighting/safety cables, locks, and covers for the tow bar we have the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain kit part # RM-9243-1 which comes with all of that as one part number. The diode kit that comes with this allows you to splice into the taillight wiring so... view full answer...
Vehicle passenger compartment plastic trim panels, like the dash panel on your Trailhawk that comes off to give you access to the brake controller port, usually have tabs that fit into slots or metal fasteners, in addition to the visible retaining screw. Once the visible fasteners are removed it may still require a bit of force to release the panel, especially on a brand new vehicle.
Often a trim panel tool set like # PT73HJ can help loosen things up. These plastic tools will be less... view full answer...
Hi Wes; you need to use a 12V outlet with the 12V plug on the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. The Brake Buddy has a charge line to keep the battery on your vehicle charged, it isn't designed to tie into a brake system like this one.
The remote/monitor has a manual override so you can activate the brakes without the motorhome brakes applied. This system is designed to work with the factory brake system, I would not try to install that auxiliary pump with the Patriot.
