As you can see at the 1:20 mark in the attached video, the factory brake controller harness on your 2017 Jeep Cherokee will be located under the driver's side dash panel. The connector will be grey in color and positioned just to the left of where the brake pedal mounts to the firewall.
In addition to the video, I have attached a photo per your request of the harnesses location. view full answer...
The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR, uses a 12V powered remote that wirelessly connects to the 12V powered braking unit. This wireless remote has an inertia-based sensor in it that can sense the braking of the towing vehicle and communicates that braking need to the towed vehicle. The remote also give you a manual override feature like brake controllers do to allow you to apply the brakes in the towed vehicle as you determine necessary. It also has a light... view full answer...
Vehicle passenger compartment plastic trim panels, like the dash panel on your Trailhawk that comes off to give you access to the brake controller port, usually have tabs that fit into slots or metal fasteners, in addition to the visible retaining screw. Once the visible fasteners are removed it may still require a bit of force to release the panel, especially on a brand new vehicle.
Often a trim panel tool set like # PT73HJ can help loosen things up. These plastic tools will be less... view full answer...
According to the owner's manual for your 2018 Jeep Cherokee, "You must ensure that the Auto Park Brake feature is disabled before towing this vehicle, to avoid inadvertent Electric Park Brake engagement. The Auto Park Brake feature is enabled or disabled via the customer programmable features in the Uconnect Settings". Therefore, I recommend disabling the Auto Park Brake though the Uconnect settings and not by pulling the fuse.
In order to flat-tow the vehicle you are going to need a base... view full answer...
We've haven't had the chance to install the Roadmaster base plate kit part # RM-521451-4 on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee (as of September 2018) so we don't have any feedback we can give on step 5. Since you have really good info on how you handled Step 5 of the instructions I am going to post this on our site so that it could help future customers. Let me know what Roadmaster gets back to you with and I'll add that as well. view full answer...
To the best of our knowledge the Mopar wiring is needed up to the 2019 model of the Jeep Cherokee. Unfortunately it looks like your dealer didn't know what they were talking about per the Jeep tech bulletin for the wiring kit 68321424AB, especially if it is in your owner's manual.
If you don't already have equipment to flat tow your 2017 Cherokee Trailhawk then I recommend going with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1136 along with the Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 which is rated for up to 6,500... view full answer...
The best way to find someone to install the Curt hitch part # C13395 on your 2019 Jeep Cherokee will be to find a local mechanic in your area with a solid reputation and let them do it. This is listed as taking a little less than an hour for an average Joe to do so a mechanic could probably knock it out in about 30 minutes. They might have a one hour minimum for install time so you'd want to determine that.
I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well. view full answer...
The Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 you referenced will require custom wiring harness # 3014-P for your 2018 Cherokee Trailhawk w/factory tow package. It will be plug and play using that harness. I've attached a video of the similar installation to assist. view full answer...
This does happen every now and then, but you will need the Dexter Replacement Emergency Breakaway Cable Kit # DX64XR. This is specifically for the A-60 actuators, which the # DX56FR is.
With that said, on the bottom or underneath side of the inner member of the actuator, there is a small tab that you can push down with a flat blade screwdriver (refer to the included image as to what this looks like). Depressing this is supposed to release the internal workings of the actuator and grant... view full answer...
For vehicles that don't have power to the cigarette lighter power ports when the vehicle is off we have the part # RM-9332 which runs directly to the vehicle battery and then gives you a power source for the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. view full answer...
A front mount trailer hitch like # 31084 can be used for a winch or for pushing around a trailer to get it in the right position but you can not use it to tow your 1991 Jeep Cherokee. You would not be able to turn properly with a single attachment point at the center of a 4 wheeled vehicle.
To flat tow a vehicle you will need a special attachment called base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. Base plates and a front mount hitch cannot both be installed... view full answer...
Optronics doesn't offer instructions for the # TL29BK trailer taillight kit. However, if you click the link I provided to the the trailer wiring help article, you'll see a wiring diagram showing how the kit would be used to wire a trailer.
The wiring system shown in the diagram is more elaborate than what you'd have, so you'd ignore all the wire colors but the white, green, yellow and brown.
The green wire feeds the right turn/brake lamp. From the front of the trailer, it would run along... view full answer...
The plug to connect the # 3014-P harness in your 2019 Jeep Cherokee to is behind a black cover that is just to the left of the steering column right above where the carpeting ends. You need to remove the black cover. Check out the picture I attached.
If you don't already have a brake controller I recommend the Prodigy P3, part # 90195. It's one of the easiest to setup and use controllers we carry. And it's a Tekonsha controller so it'll work with the # 3014-P. I've linked a demo video... view full answer...
I would be happy to help you find the correct cold side stop light switch wire in your 2021 Jeep Cherokee to get the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor # DM86VR installed, but we have not had a chance to install one in a Cherokee yet so you will need to test for the correct wire.
Using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 you will need to test each wire going to the stop light switch on your Jeep. The wire you are needing is the cold side wire which... view full answer...
Newer model Jeeps have electric power steering systems that require activation while flat towing to prevent the death wobble. You'll have to purchase the Mopar Recreational Flat Tow Wiring Kit part 68321424AB through a dealer to activate the power steering and resolve the death wobble.
Activating the electric power steering will put a drain on your vehicle's battery so you'll also want the BrakeBuddy Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Kit Item # BB54FR maintain the charge level of your battery. view full answer...
I can help you install a brake controller like the Tekonsha P3 on your 2015 Jeep Cherokee.
For Brake Controller recommendations, I really like the # 90195. This brake controller is a proportional controller, which means whatever pressure you press the tow vehicle's brakes it will apply the same pressure and intensity to the trailer's brakes. It also has a customizable full display screen which provides you with full error messages instead of codes that need to be deciphered.

The wiring kit to flat tow your 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk does not include a charge line to the battery, so you would need to get one separately and install that so the battery does not die. If your motorhome does not have a charge line you would also need that (though most do so long as your motorhome has a 7-way).
Since your '22 Cherokee Trailhawk has LED lights and the ParkSense feature, there is a specific wiring harness you'll need, and I'll go ahead and list out all the parts... view full answer...
First, if your 2016 Jeep Cherokee did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then the brake controller port will not be on the vehicle. If it did come with the factory installed 7-Way then it should be located behind the black cover located to the left of the steering column, just above the carpet. To plug in the adapter, first remove the cover. The plug you are looking for should be a gray square connector like in the picture I have included.
