Where is Brake Controller Install Harness for 2017 Jeep Cherokee

just bought a brake controller for the jeep cherokee WITH factory tow package already installed. Cant find the plug to plug the harness in

The connector to install an electric brake controller in your 2015 Jeep Cherokee is located behind a panel that is to the left of the steering column. They're often tucked up fairly far under the dash.

The connector will mate with the adapter # 3014-P that I've attached picture of.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.

My question is will anything bad happen when I take that panel off there seems to be a light there

Removing that panel to access the factory brake controller plug won't cause any problems. Just carefully pry it away until you can pull the plug out for connection. The panel would be put back in place after installation.

I have a 2017 jeep sort trail hawk with factory tow package of 4500 pound but no electric brake i want to install one dealer tells me there is no plug under the dash to plug in brake controller could they be right I have looked under there can't locate the plug found fuse panel but no plug harness can you help me thanks Terry

From what I could find it looks like there should be a factory brake controller port under the dash of your Jeep as long as it does in fact have the factory tow package. Sometimes they can be pretty hidden but I wasn't able to track down its exact location, although it should be near where Jameson highlighted above. Your owner's manual might also offer some additional insight.
