Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Malone-J-Dock storage system, part number MPG 317. The Malone-J-Dock enables you to carry up to 2 kayaks on your wall. This will also work great with your canoes. At the bases here on our actual mounts they do have padding on them and this is to protect the whole of your kayak or your canoe. It also comes with 2 twelve-foot straps to enable you to carry your second kayak on the wall. When comparing this with other products, one that comes up is the Swagman wall mounted kayak storage system, part no. S-65146.
And, the biggest difference between these two is, the Swagman is designed primarily for kayaks while the Malone is designed for both kayaks and canoes. The Swagman can only carry up to the one kayak while the Malone can carry two, thanks to the addition of the straps. Now we already have our J-Dock installed on our wall here. It comes with all 4 bolts necessary to put this in the wall, and the way we did this was, we lifted up one of them first, marked for our holes, drilled it out with the required drill bit, and then installed our bolts. Now you do want to make sure you have at least a minimum spread of about 32 inches, and you want to make sure you install these in the wall studs, and to avoid anything like pipes or electrical. We're next going to install our straps. So we feed our straps in through the bottom and to the other side, and we come to our buckle here and we'll thread in our open end, making a loop.
Now we can install our first kayak and we'll get an extra set of hands to do so, setting it up like so. Now we can install our 2nd kayak. Place it through our straps until it's about even on both sides. Looks like we can bring up this side just a little bit. That looks better.
And, if you want to, we can now tie up the excess. And once your kayaks are loaded up, we can take our oar and place it on the inside and hang it there. And there you have it for the Malone-J-Dock storage system, part number MPG 317.
Worked well.
