Features to know about

Effortless Installation with No Splicing: Custom-Fit T-One Connector

Say goodbye to the headache of cutting and splicing wires with the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness. This custom-fit 4-pole flat trailer connector plugs directly into your vehicle's existing wiring system. You simply plug in the connectors located along the frame rail on both sides of your vehicle, making the installation a breeze. It's designed for those who want to save time and keep their car's original wiring intact—ideal for DIY enthusiasts.

Universal Compatibility for All Trailers: 4-Way Flat Connector

The Tekonsha T-One harness is versatile enough to connect with various trailer types, thanks to its 4-way flat connector. It’s compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and even 7-pole adapters, which means you can easily hook up to most trailers on the market. Whether you need to power your trailer's running lights, brake lights, or turn signals, this harness has got you covered—making towing simpler for everyone.

Perfect for Heavier Loads: 7.5 Amps Per Circuit

Designed to handle more than just basic lighting, the Tekonsha wiring harness manages up to 7.5 amps per circuit. This ensures that even if your trailer has multiple taillights or additional lighting features, you'll still get reliable performance. With a higher amperage capacity than many other harnesses, it’s ideal for those who frequently tow larger or feature-rich trailers.

Durable Construction for Weather Resistance: 16-Gauge Bonded Wire

Tackle any weather condition head-on with this harness's robust design. Constructed from durable 16-gauge bonded wire, it withstands corrosion and environmental elements. This is perfect for those who are constantly on the road, providing long-lasting performance no matter where the journey takes you.

Hassle-Free Maintenance: Comes with Dust Cap

Maintaining your connections is simple with the included dust cap, which protects your plug from dirt and moisture when not in use. This small but significant feature means you can keep your connector clean and functioning smoothly, reducing the likelihood of issues down the road and ensuring a reliable connection every time.

Note

  • This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located at the rear, along the inside of the frame rail on both the driver's and passenger's sides.
  • Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
  • It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

  • Will Upgrading To Self-Adjusting Brake Assemblies Require Changing Out Hub/Drum Assemblies?
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA will work with your existing hubs. This kit comes with both assemblies and they are labeled for installation on the proper side of your trailer. There is a manual adjustment needed at install and then they will self-adjust following that installation.

Hey Cory, thanks for reaching out! I'd be more than happy to help you get your 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 set up for trailer towing! Here are the parts you'll need: - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118329 - Universal Wiring Upgrade # ETBC7 - Mount Bracket # 18136 - Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 The T-One tees in behind your taillights and then the ETBC7 wiring comes with everything you need to get a fully functioning 7-Way and additional wiring to make sure your brake controller is...

  • How to Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500
In order to install a 7-way trailer wiring harness on your 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 you are first going to need a 4-way trailer wiring harness if you do not already have one and for that I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118329. This is a complete plug and play option that will not require any cutting or splicing. Once you have the 4-way installed you will then want to use a 4 to 7-way trailer wiring harness adapter. If you will be installing a brake controller then I recommend...

If your 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 had a tow package with a 7-Way connector from the factory, then your truck is pre-wired and will have a port underneath the dash to attach a brake controller. If the truck came with a 4-Way connector tow package, it will also have a port under the dash. You will have to add a 7-way connector at the rear, and run the brake wire and any other accessory wiring you need for your trailer. • Brake Controller and Trailer Wiring Setup for 1995 Dodge Ram 1500
Congratulations on your new truck! Since brake controllers are for electric brakes, boat trailers generally do not have electric brakes due to them being used around water. You have a 4-wire connector on your boat trailer, so you would not have hydraulic brakes either, probably because it is light enough that they are not needed. Under your dashboard, the 6-wire plug is for the brake controller, while the 2-wire plug is most likely for computer diagnostics. To use your boat trailer lights,...

There will be two options available to install a 7-Way on your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, depending on what you have on your vehicle right now. If you have a 4-Way connector on your vehicle right now, you can use the Hopkins Adapter, part # 37185 to install a 7-Way. This adapter will plug into the 4-Way on your vehicle and give you a 7-Way and 4-Way connector at the rear of your vehicle. If your 1996 Dodge Ram has the factory 7-way connector at the rear of the vehicle, then all of the wires for the brake controller have been run. You will just need a brake controller wiring adapter. I recommend using part # 3020-S. This adapter plugs into the brake controller plug under the dash, to the left of the steering column taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. The four pigtail wires on the other end will be butt-connected to the brake controller, color to color. If...

The brake controller install harness you'd need for installing a Tekonsha brake controller # TK90160 in your 1997 Dodge Ram is the part # 3020-P if you have the factory 7-way at the rear of the truck. Since it sounds like you do not have any trailer wiring on your truck you'll need to start with a 4-way # 118329. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter...

If so, then you can use the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector part # 20023 which will require splicing on the new pigtail. • Brake Controller Needed and Differences Between Electric and Electric/Hydraulic Braking Systems
I'd be happy to explain that a bit for you. There are a few different braking systems available for trailers, with electric being the most common. The brake controller sends voltage back to the electromagnets in the brake assemblies, which stick to the inside of the drums, spreading the brake drums apart so they push against the inside of the drums helping to stop the trailer. Some trailers use hydraulic brakes, like cars do. These can be actuated by a surge coupler that compresses when...
