Does 2019 Chevy Silverado Need a Battery Disconnect

Question:

Do you need a battery kill switch on a 2019 Silverado 1500 in order to flat tow all 4 wheels down? I had to ad one to my 2014 Silverado. Thanks for your help. Kenneth R

Hi Kenneth,

Yes, you will need a battery disconnect for your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, but which one you need depends on your truck. If your Silverado is a 4- or 6-cylinder gas model, you can use a remote disconnect like Roadmaster Battery Ace Battery Disconnect w/ Key Fobs - Gas Only # RM39ZT or a push button disconnect like Roadmaster Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicle w/ Flat Tow Brake System - Gas Only # RM-766.

If your Silverado is a 8-cylinder gas or a diesel model, you will need to use Roadmaster Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicle w/ Flat Tow Brake System - Diesel # RM93MR. This model can also be used on 4- and 6-cylnder models, but it's easier to use one of the above so that would be my recommendation.
