  • Smoother, Safer Ride: Hollow rubber springs absorb road shock and reduce body roll on turns.
  • Prevents Rear Sag: Works with your suspension to keep handling, steering, and braking consistent.

Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 2,000-lb Rear Support

Heavy trailers or bed loads can make the rear end sag and take weight off the front tires. The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System adds 2,000 lbs of rear support to keep things level when towing or hauling gear. The hollow rubber springs work with your factory suspension to hold the vehicle steady so steering, traction, and braking stay consistent even under heavy load.

Smooth Out Bumps and Rough Roads: Hollow Rubber Springs Absorb Shock

Uneven pavement or washboard roads can beat up your suspension. The Aeon hollow rubber springs act as cushions that absorb the brunt of bumps and rough roads. They work progressively—soft under light loads and more rigid as weight increases—so your ride stays smooth and controlled without bottoming out.

Illustration showing Timbren rubber springs absorbing road shock to prevent bottoming out and improve ride comfort on rough roads.

Stable Handling Through Turns and Crosswinds: Independent Spring Action

When you corner hard or a crosswind hits, each spring works on its own to support the driver’s or passenger’s side as needed. This independent action cuts down on body roll and sway, keeping your vehicle planted through turns and helping trailers track straight even in gusty conditions.

Diagram showing how the Timbren suspension enhancement system reduces vehicle sag and body roll during turns or uneven loading.

Easy Bolt-On Upgrade That Replaces Factory Bump Stops

Installation is straightforward with vehicle-specific brackets and hardware included. The springs replace the factory bump stops and bolt directly to the frame using existing mounting points. There are no air lines, compressors, or adjustments to worry about—just a simple upgrade that adds stability and helps extend the life of your suspension system.

Video Transcript for Timbren Manufacturer Spotlight - Suspension Enhancement

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got John with us from Timbren. He's gonna tell us a little bit more about what separates Timbren from the competitors. I appreciate it, I'm glad to be here. Timbren is a suspension specialist. We're based in Whitby, Ontario, so we are a true manufacturer in Canada and we offer a wide range of suspension products from light duty, from commercial all the way up to Overlander, Sprinter applications and trailers.

Now we've talked about a few of the options you guys have and we have plenty of options on our website. Right. We've got the SES kits. We've got the axle-less suspension. Right.

We've got your new coil inserts that just came out recently. But what would you say is your bread-and-butter at Timbren Yeah, no, our SES, suspension enhancement system, is definitely our bread-and-butter. Came out in 2011, won a SEMA New Product Award for best truck suspension. And really, the evolution you just mentioned here, you know, starting in 1968 all the way through now, 2024. But the SES kits are really the core of who we are.

And if you, if you would say at, in the level of stiffness on the market, what would you, would you put yourself in more in a heavy duty side for the SES kits or is it more of a lighter duty Yeah, great question. Lighter duty, we certainly can have a product for commercial and heavy duty, but in '82 when SES was introduced, it was purposely introduced for that, that light duty market. So we start with 1500 and again, go all the way up, but by far really popular with that 1500, 2500 crowd. That kinda leads me into my next question. So we talked about, your specialty is kind of in the lighter duty, but do you have an option for the heavier duty for your sprinter vans and maybe for your truck bed campers Yeah, absolutely.

We do have SES kits for truck beds, truck campers with a higher center of gravity. That creates a new kind of set of problems with the sway side to side. So we have severe duty kits for those. And it uses a single convoluted AON versus a double convoluted to tackle that problem of side to side. And the same thing with the sprinter van. It uses a rectangular shape Aon, but it's there to do the same deal that side to side sway because they're so top heavy, it'll eliminate that. Okay. And then we've had an instance here at etrailer that we had a van that was very, very heavy on the one side. Is there anything that you guys can do personally to help, I would say, I guess customize that kit for that particular user Yeah, by all means we would want that individual to contact us. We would ask a couple questions, see where that weight is distributed and we can actually produce an AON with either a stiffer hardness or durometer or a softer durometer and that will help level it out. So yes, we can take care of that for 'em. And I think that'll really, really help people to get their rigs dialed in because who knows what they're putting in the campers afterwards, after they buy 'em. They come from the manufacturer already heavy on that side and they're trying to load stuff on the other side to try to even it out. But knowing that there's a solution that you can customize for your rig no matter what the weight is on either side is really, really cool. Yeah, absolutely. We're happy to take care of 'em and again, there's no charge for that. Awesome. Now to kind of wrap things up, what sets Timbren apart from a lot of other manufacturers out there Well, I think there's a couple things. We're a family run company and our longevity, you can't deny, 1968 to 2024 and our warranty, we have a lifetime warranty regardless of how old it is. We will take care of it, replace it, limited lifetime warranty, and the hundred day money back guarantee. Very cool. And that's whether or not you're the first owner Right. And yeah, we're not asking for receipt, who'd you buy it from It'll be taken care of. Just give us a ring and we'll take care of it for you. Very cool. Well thank you again for meeting with us. Appreciate it. It was a pleasure to work with you. Thank you.

2003 Jeep Liberty
First Trip with my new Rockwood Extreme Sport to San Diego went well although I had a lot of sag in the rear. Camper place said I did not need a weight distribution for my 03 Jeep Liberty so I got online and found the TJRL4. I ordered it and had my mechanic put them in. We had to call the help desk as they were slightly to big to pop in so he had us shave the top down a bit to fit. My last four trips with the TJRL4 on my Liberty have been outstanding, sag is not an issue and a much better ride. I think if you do not do a distribution hitch , this is much easier way to go. It raised my jeep up slightly also without the trailer on so that is a plus too. The main result was I feel very confident pulling my trailer with a Liberty which went from Arizona to Montana and back, up hills, down hills etc with no problems at all and I was in total control at all times. I credit this to the way the TJRL4 corrected the sag issue. Great Product.

Awesome product , easy install, can’t believe how much better our liberty handles, would give it ten stars , I’ve even bought the timbren system for several of the vehicles where I work , and if you have any questions the folks at timbren and e trailer are always willing to help !!!!!

Bigger in diameter than stock parts are. Fought with the Timbrens for almost 3 1/2 hours before we finally had them in. Getting the coil springs back in over them was another joy. The Timbrens are so long, we had to spray them down with the soap/water mix and work them on, knocking the Timbrens out of place a few times. Which told us they were still not seated in the cups correctly. Haven’t had time to drive it yet. Hopefully they are in, or will fully seat when I do drive it.

The rubber spring fits into the bump stop pretty tightly. As long as it is firmly seated in the cup and bolted on, then it should be fine.

Installed the Timbren TFR250SDJ on my 2025 F-250 Platinum Plus 4WD Short Bed with 6.7 HO Powerstroke. Fit perfectly. It takes a few minutes to get the bags attached to the base. It seems like the bolt is too long but I used a vise to hold the unit while I tightened it down more and cinched the bag to the base. So if it seems it wont get tight enough and is still loose, find a way to secure the base... there's still a few more turns.

Attaching to the truck takes a few minutes to remove the OEM (2 nuts) and a few minutes to install the Timbren SES. I added about 45 minutes by dropping one of the nuts, which I finally found inside the shock absorber bracket!!

I used a hand socket but would recommend air or power tools, if you can get to the nuts, but it can be done manually. Probably took me a few extra minutes with a socket wrench because of limited space, and I'm old!

I have not tested the SES under load yet, but I was really more concerned with the ride unloaded.I ended up with a gap right at 1" between the peg and bottom of the SES. Some reviews said the unloaded ride worsened. So I drove to the nearest small town with horrible streets, bumps, holes, broken concrete, sewer covers 3" below the asphalt, etc. On the highway, the ride was perfect, completely unaffected. On my bad road obstacle course, I thought the ride improved significantly. So I think the system will give a better ride unloaded. It was a little stiffer, less roll, and smoother. It was not "bouncy" or jarring, like some reviews mention. Very smooth and felt beefier on bad roads.

I'll update after I've driven loaded. I tow a 12,000# 2025 Rockwood TT 36' with a ProPride 3P hitch. We put 7,000 miles on it across 15 states this past year, so I've definitely got a "before" baseline using the OEM bumpers.

The ordering process was great. Naomi D had great product knowledge. At first I thought I was talking to my granddaughter, but after putting her through the paces, It felt like I was getting sage advice from my Grandfather. e-Trailer seems to really invest in their customer service reps knowledge base. Also completely satisfied with the order process and delivery. They were able to mail to our PO Box, which seems to be a problem for most (our physical address is a gate on the side of a highway, with cows on the other side).

100% satisfied so far and would recommend both e-trailer and Timbren to a friend. Will update once I've done some towing, but can say the unloaded ride is unaffected or improved for my application. So far, very happy.

Thanks for taking the time to share such a detailed review and all of the pictures! The unloaded ride is a concern we hear fairly often with SES upgrades, so your experience with the 1" gap and rough-road testing will be really helpful to others considering these for their F-250. We appreciate the kind words about Naomi and our team as well. Looking forward to your update once you get some miles on them with the Rockwood!

I'm suitably impressed with the difference i feel.
I have about 250 lbs. of static load with my topper and Decked cargo system. This put my install gap with no spacers just under the reccomended 1 inch minimum. Then add a couple hundred more pounds hauling music gear 100 shows a year, and the stop is resting on the axle.
I feel the absorption of the Timbren material is better than the flimsy stock bump stops. More cushion.
Where i really feel the difference is in the stabilty of excessive side sway when turning while loaded.
I have a gig coming up that will involve some unpaved mountain roads to get there so I think i will have a real goid idea of how these Timbren's will perform.
Instalation took me about an hour at 11 p.m.
The product it of the highest quality in design and build.
And Etrailer is a company that I would not hesitate to buy from in the future.
Thanks Dee Dee.

Love hearing this! Really appreciate the detailed feedback and photos. That extra stability when you're loaded up can make a huge difference. And installing them at 11 at night—that's commitment. Hope they treat you just as well on those mountain roads. Safe travels and we'll definitely make sure Dee Dee gets the shoutout.

Just got these on and haven’t been able to do a lot of testing yet, but it looks like they command their price. Huge difference in sag in the rear end of our Honda Pilot. As others have appeared to do in this review section before me, I started using a WDH with these and that looks to really be the winning combination with the Timbren SES. Our travel trailer is 3,500 lbs and it was squatting the pilot pretty well before. This timbren SES is a great addition. Can’t go wrong.

by:
Absolutely Pleased with the TIMBRENS. They were easy to install, and took less than an hour to install both. I noticed a slight stiffness in the ride as the rear bounced over a bad roadway. Towing is great, with a nice level and smooth ride. I am glad that I did not order the heavier duty Timbrens, than what was recomended for my truck. I believe the ride would have been too stiff. If you look at the photos showing the timbrens, the truck is still lifted in the rear, so what you see is a big gap between the rubber, and the steal plate. When the truck is lowered, there's 1" of space as it should be. BTW, I have been purchasing from etrailer for years now, and I have to say that I have never had any issues with any orders. They are my go to folks for all of my vehicle suppension stuff and trailer stuff. You can't go wrong with buying from them.

The TIMBRENs work as stated during when I am pulling anything heavy. However, when the truck is not pulling anything, anyone riding in the rear seat gets a very hard jarring jolt when driving over any roadway repairs, bumps, expansion joints on bridges. I wished that I would have went with the Super Springs, or the Road Active Suspension. I may replace the TIMBRENS later.

@Don I'm sorry to hear that the Timbrens didn’t pan out to be as great as you originally hoped. Swapping over to the SuperSprings or the RoadActive Suspension will definitely have less of an impact on your day-to-day driving. Out of the two, the RoadActive Suspension would have the least effect. If you ever have questions about the RoadActive Suspension or the SuperSprings, let me know and I’d be happy to help out.

It has been almost a year since I installed Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems (DVF350 and DVR350R) on the front and rear of my 2003 Dodge RAM Van 3500. These bumpers replaced the OEM bump stops that were on my van. I like the Timbren bumpers much better than the OEM bump stops because they provide a progressively cushioned response for suspension compression when traveling over significant humps like speed bumps in a parking lot, or curb ramps into driveways. I did not like the abrupt stop the OEM bump stops provided when traveling over the same objects. I installed the Timbren rear bumpers first, and after a few months of use, I decided to add them to the front. In both cases, the front and rear Timbren bumpers were easy to install once the OEM bump stops were removed. Installation required reuse of the factory hardware. On my van, the Timbren bumpers are not always engaged. Under normal load and travel conditions the bumpers are relaxed and about 1/2” away from the suspension landing points. However, their presence is much appreciated and very noticeable when the van is carrying heavy loads or handling significant humps.

Glad to hear the Timbren systems worked out so well for your RAM Van Mitchell! It’s great that you noticed the smoother, more progressive response compared to the factory bump stops, especially under load. Thanks for sharing your experience with both the front and rear installs, that’s really helpful for others considering the upgrade. What kind of loads are you usually hauling with your van?

by:
The timbres bump stop is exactly the right height to meet the axel when the trailer is connected with all its weight onto the hitch. I have an Andersen weight distribution hitch and it levels out perfectly. The day picture is with the coach (Winn 2100bh) with factory equipment. The night picture is after the timbres are in place. Looks good.

Stiffens and corrects kneel in rear end of 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. You will notice a stiffening of the rear end suspension while unloaded, but it’s a fair trade off to prevent sagging and porpoising while towing. I found it easier to pull the rear wheels and work from the side than underneath the vehicle while installing.

The Timbren overload spring/bumper was east to install and did what it was supposed to do when I hitched up a camp trailer. These did not negatively affect the ride by any means and I don't have to worry about the troubles with air bags.
by:
A very simple and straightforward installation once you get the oem bumper stops off (had a shop do that)
Timbren worked with me as I had a non OEM frame height (vehicle was lower than stock) to recommend the proper kit. Highly recommend contacting timbren if you are unsure of the proper kit to use. Ride is more stable. It does feel stiffer and less bouncy but am looking forward to seeing how it performs with my truck camper. Truck is a 1998 dodge ram 2500. Brake line over left side of axle needed to be secured to prevent damage.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out, that’s actually a common issue with this type of trim. The one you tried is a standard flat insert, but some RVs (like your NOBO) use a slightly domed trim to help it sit over the screw heads in the track. If the screws stick up even a little, a flat trim won’t fully snap in place, which sounds like what you’re running into. The best way to find the right replacement is to remove a small piece of your original trim, lay it flat, and measure the full width from edge to edge. Most are either 3/4" or 1", but the shape matters too, not just the width. If yours has that domed profile, you’ll want something similar or a softer vinyl that can flex over the screws. If you’re able to send a quick photo of your track or old trim, I’d be happy to help you find a better match.

Well they are exactly what I thought it would be. Hard for me to say it's what I needed yet.
I installed them on a homemade trailer from a salvaged 2001 base model tacoma. Once I get finished building it out and have some weight in it I'll have a better idea. But from what I've seen so far on a couple test drives they should come into effect when needed.
For reference I building an Tacoma based trailer with an ARE Contractor topper with a Naturnest roof top tent on the very top. So to counter and sway these should be very helpful. At least I hope so. I'm not an engineer but I did stay at an Holliday Inn once.

The Timbren SES is a simple solution for rear squat when towing. When hitched to my 30' Airstream Globetrotter (8800 GVWR) with a tongue weight around 1200 lbs, my Silverado 2500HD had a bit more squat than is ideal. I shopped airbags but didn't want to spend ~$2K for the set up and didn't want the hassle of installation and forever chasing air leaks. The Timbren SES literally installs on the Silverado in about 15 minutes. So simple. No bags, no compressor, no wiring, no air lines, no leaks. And WAY less expensive to boot. Just returned form a 600+ mile trip and it towed flawlessly.

2,000 miles in on a trip from the east coast to the Canadian Rockies these work great while loaded and towing. Close to zero bounce while towing, I love them. Unloaded, however, the ride in my 2026 Tundra has gone south. There is a noticeable, abrupt stop of the units hitting the axle when going over any kind of bump. When I get home and back to regular driving, I may just take them off, its that bad.

Glad they are working well for you, Kevin! Well, while you are towing, that is. We have heard that these can be pretty rough when unloaded, but work great when you are loaded. A quick release function on these would make taking them off when not towing a lot easier. I may pitch that to Timbren to see if they can work something out. I will tell them to call it something like the Kevin Device if they agree! ^___^ Sounds like quite the trip! What has been your favorite stop so far?

by:
I've had these on our tow rig for a year now and I added buy them again today if I needed them.these have worked much better than airbags for our coil spring rear suspension to handle the tongue weight of our trailer. The SUV sits level when the trailer is on and it handles bumps and sway better than the airbags did providing much more comfort to us in the vehicle. Unloaded, we don't really notice they are there, unless, we have all the kids and some friends loaded up and you will fell them work when going over bumps.i do all my maintenance on the vehicle's and inspect these regularly and I cant see any wear so far even though we've gone on 6 trips with our trailer with about 5000 miles doing so.
I cant say these are the best for every truck or SUV, but for ours it is the best and I definitely would recommend to others.

Great product. The ride and body roll at the rear axle are notceably improved (1989 Ford E350 Class C RV , 27 ft). I give it 4 stars because the installation was slightly complicated due to the rear brake lines needing to be slightly bent to provide clearance for the U bolts supplied in the kit. Great product and wish it came in a 5000 lb version.

Thanks for sharing your experience Thomas. It is great to hear the Timbrens made a noticeable difference in ride quality and reduced body roll on your E350 Class C. We also appreciate the heads-up on the install. That kind of real-world feedback about brake line clearance is very helpful for others working on a similar setup. Would be nice if they had a stronger option, if you need the 5K, might need to go to airbags, but who wants to deal with having to air up if you don't need to. Where are you off to on the next adventure?

With the Timbrens, you will want to have a 1/2" to 1-1/2" gap when the vehicle is unloaded. They are only designed to engage when the suspension is under load and you need the additional support. If you want to reduce that gap so the Timbrens engage sooner, you can add the 1/2" Spacer # TA25722-90P00 or the 1" Spacer # A25723-90AH00.

If your Jeep is sagging, an adjustable ball mount is probably not going to be the cure. The best thing would be to use a weight distribution system if you have a 2 inch hitch. I see that you have ordered the Curt Class III hitch, part # 13044, from us and I assume that is what you have on your 2007 Liberty. This hitch cannot be used with a weight distribution system. • How Do I Install Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancment System TJRL4 on a 2007 Jeep Liberty
There are no brackets needed for this kit. The rubber Aeon spring fits into the pre-existing bump stop cup. It is made to be a very tight fit. The capacity is dictated by whatever the lowest rated component is. Increasing the load bearing capacity of the suspension (which the Timbrens...

I haven't heard of a US air bag manufacturer putting a wrap around their air bags to prevent road debris from damaging them but I do understand where you're coming from. You can use the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL60820 on your 2012 Jeep Liberty but I don't have a recommendation for a material to place over the air bags so I unfortunately can't help you out there. To be perfectly honest, our manufacturers have said the most common way the coil air springs get...
