Note: When servicing your truck with Air Lift air springs installed, if the truck is lifted by the frame, the air must be let out of the springs. And if the rear of the truck is lifted during service, then it must be supported by jack stands to avoid damage to the air springs.

Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 was designed with an exact purpose: to provide full-time, first-class support to your 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, or 1-ton pickup. With this kit, you get a safer ride and simultaneously protect your vehicle from the strain that comes with hauling massive loads.

Carrying heavy cargo in your truck bed or trailer puts tremendous stress on your vehicle. Your brakes erode faster, your tires wear unevenly, and handling suffers severely. When towing, you might also experience excessive sway, bottoming out, and even improper and unsafe headlight aim. Fortunately, there is a solution to these problems. By pairing your existing suspension with the LoadLifter 5000, you can seriously beef up your suspension, ensure equal load distribution, and give your vehicle the support it desperately needs. Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 provides up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling capacity and distributes the weight of your payload to all 4 wheels. As a result, the stress on your OEM suspension is significantly reduced.

LoadLifter's air bags are adjustable from 5 to 100 psi for precise support, and they can be inflated independently of one another for front-to-rear and side-to-side leveling. They are made of high-quality, 2-ply, fabric-reinforced rubber. Most air bags lose air at the ends, where the bag is enclosed with a steel cap, because the steel can rust and corrode over time, creating small holes. The endcaps on Air Lift air bags are fashioned from corrosion-proof Zytel nylon, a material that is both stronger and lighter than steel, ensuring that the air bags won't lose air. Also, LoadLifter 5000 comes with Air Lift's exclusive roll plates, which both protect your air springs and beef up the load capacity of the springs.

This system installs with the included brackets and hardware. Just mount the springs, inflate them, and ride. To inflate the LoadLifter springs, you just have to pump air in through the inflation valves. A line kit is included with the springs so that you can install the valves (one for each spring) in an easily accessible area - typically they are installed on the bumper. If you want to make the springs even easier to use, you can get a compressor and gauge system (sold separately).

Air Lift kits are designed to keep your vehicle at normal ride height. You can find the normal ride height of your vehicle by unloading it and measuring the distance between the bottom edge of your wheel well and the center of the hub. After you find and record this distance, you can regulate the amount of air that you put into your air springs to maintain normal ride height - even when you are hauling a heavy load. You will need to adjust the air pressure in your air bags according to the size of your load.

Along with a lifetime warranty that has no mileage restrictions, Air Lift offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Just install and use LoadLifter 5000 springs for 60 days, and if you are not satisfied at the end of this time, you can remove them from your vehicle and return them for a full product refund. Now that's confidence.

Video Transcript for Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be installing Airlift's Lift Loader 5,000 air helper springs, part number AL57399. WE've now got our vehicle loaded up with an excessive amount of weight, dropping down our suspension. We're measuring now about 41-1/4 inches. So we're down almost 3-3/4 inches from our factory ride height. And when we come to the front and recheck our measurements, our front is raised up to 42 inches from the factory ride height of 41-1/2.So now that our vehicle's loaded down, and it's changed our ride height, what this means to you is that you're going to have reduced braking power because the weight's not going to transfer to the front as it did in its factory ride height. You're going to have reduced handling performance, because your suspension angles are now different than what they were, due to the ride height change.

It'll also caused excessive tire wear, because of that angle change. And now at about 50 psi while the vehicles loaded, our ride height has returned to its factory Spec of about 44 inches. And our front has dropped back down to about 41 inches. So everything's level again. These air springs are going to be a versatile way to even out the load on your vehicle and also to prevent sagging, and restore that factory ride height when loaded up with a heavy load. One of the things that sets this kit apart from other suspension enhancements systems, such as your Timbren Springs or a leaf spring assist, is that you can adjust the left side and right side independently allowing to adjust for uneven loads. These springs will offer 5,000 pounds of load leveling support.

Now this doesn't increase the load that you can carry on with your vehicle, it just provides support to even out that ride height, making it a more comfortable, safer ride going down the road. Bringing your factory ride height back to straight is going to help increase the life of your vehicle. It's going to cause tire wear to be more even because the geometry hasn't changed. It's going to provide cushioning for the rest of your suspension, help dampen those bumps going down the road. Each airbag has an operating range between five and 100 psi, five for being completely unloaded and 100 psi for maximum load capacity. We'll begin our installation by performing some pre assembly on our airbag.

We'll begin by placing one of the roll plates over top, lining up both our screw holes, and our air fitting hold. On top of that, we're going to place one of the upper brackets. This bracket will line up with both the screw holes. You want to place the elongated hole towards the front of the vehicle. And your air fitting will face towards the inside of the vehicle.

So the unit we're assembling here's going to be for the passenger side. This'll be towards the front, and this will be towards the center. Then take one of the hex bolts, slide on a lock washer and a flat washer, thread it through the hole, and we'll do the same thing in the other hole. Then tighten those down using a 9/16 socket. Then thread in your air fitting in the open hole. You'll thread this in finger tight and then given an additional 1-1/2 turns using a 13 millimeter wrench. Now you can flip the unit over. We'll place a roll plate on the bottom, lining up the opening in your sticker. We'll then take the lower bracket, we're going to slide the long carriage bolts down through the bracket, making sure that the threaded end is the same as the angle down there.Do that for both of the square holes, then sit this on your airbag, lining up the holes with the roll plate and the airbag. Make sure that your angled ends are on the opposite side as you're fitting. We'll then use the allen head tapered bolts and thread those to the airbag. Then tighten those down with a 7/32 allen head key. Now take the cup, that'll go where your jounce bumper needs to contact on the bottom side. We'll set that on the bracket. We'll take one of the small carriage bolts, slide it down through the bracket. And on the other side we'll place on a flat washer, followed by the thin lock nut.You want to make sure that when you've got it installed on there that you can still slide it back and forth. So you just want to tighten it just enough to where it'll stay in place, but not to where it'll prevent movement of your bracket. Next we'll remove the two bolts that hold in our jounce bumper. We'll remove these with a 15 millimeter socket. We'll set those aside, we won't be reinstalling them. Next, use your screwdriver to pop out these bolts. You'll need to pry them down on the flange there. Then you can just pull rear ward and they'll pop out of there. Then take the universal nuts that come with the kit and clip those into position where the bolts that we just removed were. Again using your screwdriver will help to pry it back into place. And we'll do that with both holes. Now we'll put our upper mounting bracket in. Want to make sure that the elongated hole faces towards the front of the vehicle, and the small hole cut out here on the side, faces towards the inside of the vehicle. Then place down carriage bolts, these are the medium size carriage bolts, into each of the corners.Raise your bracket into position and use the black allen head key bolts, to thread it into the universal nuts that we just installed. Tighten these down with a six millimeter allen key. Then tighten and torque your hardware to the specifications in your instructions. Now we can lift our airbag assembly into position, up over our axle. Want to make sure that the flange side goes toward your leaf spring, and that each of the long carriage bolts go on each side of your axle. You can now squish your airbag down and place the upper bracket holes, line them up with the bolts on the upper bracket that's on the frame. To make it easier to get it in there, you could lift up on the body of the vehicle to increase the gap between the axle and the frame. Make sure that it slid all the way up against your leaf spring and that the cutouts on the lower bracket and go around the U-bolts around your leaf spring. Then take the large U-bolt in your kit, put it around the support for your leaf spring, and we're going to slide it through the upper most holes in our lower airbag bracket. And slide on a flat washer, followed by a lock nut. We'll do that on both sides and then we're going to tighten them down just until they touch for now. We'll snug them up using a 9/16 socket. Now put the bracket that will pinch your lower bracket between your axle, on the long carriage bolts. If it doesn't want to go on straight, and it's hitting on your brake line here, you may need to bend that out of the way. We'll just use a flat bladed screwdriver just to pop that out of its bracket clip there, and just give it a slight bit angle, so our bracket will go in place. You also want to make sure that the brake line isn't contacting the threads on your long carriage bolt, because that may cause wear on your brake line. Now we can place a flat washer on the bottom of each carriage bolt and thread on a lock nut. We'll then tighten those down using a 9/16 socket, making sure to tighten back and forth so they tightened down evenly. Then take the carriage bolts that comes down from your top bracket, slide on a flat washer followed by a lock nut. Now using a 9/16 socket, tighten all those bolts down. Now torque all of your hardware to the specifications in your instructions. And now you repeat the same process on the other side. Now we'll take the air hose that came in our kit. We'll unwind it, fold it in half, and cut two equal lengths. We're using our hose cutter tool here. This will ensure that it cuts evenly and straight, so that way it has a good seal when it's pushed into the fitting on your airbags. Now I need to find an appropriate mounting location for your air hoses. These can be mounted anywhere on your back bumper. Some people put them in the lid for their gas tank. You can also fabricate your own bracket if you don't want to drill into the vehicle. We've gone ahead and find ourselves a little plastic piece, we're going to use to mount it on our hitch here. We're just going to use some zip ties to attach it.We're now going to plug our hose into our airbag and then route the wiring. I'm going to show you how to plug it into your airbag and then I'll show you the way that I routed it. You'll take the end of the air hose that you just cut, and you simply push it into the fitting. Make sure that it presses in all the way. I like to go in and out a few times just to verify that it's secure and stuck in, and that it's fully seated. You can then push that back to begin routing our hose towards wherever location that you decided to mount it.\When routing your hosing, you want to make sure you avoided any excessively hot objects, such as your exhaust, any moving objects such as your steering and suspension. We decided to follow our factory wiring down the frame rail, up over the spare tire. Here we looped up the excess, zip tied it to the factory wiring and ran into the bracket that we installed. You'll attach it to wherever you want to mount it by putting a nut on the host first, followed by the star washer, sliding it through the hole. Now on the other side, you'll put the rubber grommet, flat washer and nut. And just tighten those down, making sure that you have enough excess sticking out for your air fitting to fit on to apply air to your system. And now to protect our airbags, we're going to install a heat shield on the exhaust. Before you install it, you're going to want to take the center tabs, fold them inwards at a 90 degree. And then about 3/4 of the way down, fold it back out 90 degree again. This'll provide an air gap allowing heat to properly be deflected from your airbags. Now you can place your heat shield with the clamp located on one of the arms that we bent. Up on your exhaust system, pointed between the exhaust and your airbag, to deflect that heat. Then just tighten down the clamp to hold it in place. Now that you've got them both tightened down, go ahead and just bend them back just a little bit. Make sure you have an air gap between your exhaust, and the heat shield. Now you want to air up your airbags, making sure not to exceed their maximum capacities, and check for leaks. Air it up in short bursts, because a small amount of air builds pressure very quickly. Now spray your fittings with soapy water and check for leaks. You see the presence of bubbles. you know you have a leak. There's no presence of any bubbles, you can move on to the next fitting and check there. If no bubbles are present, you're ready to load up your truck and hit the road. Now that you've got your truck load it up, and you've adjusted it to the appropriate pressure for that load. Go ahead and thread on the two camps that come with it to protect your fittings from any dirt, debris that might get in there and cause them to start leaking. And that completes our installation of Airlift's Load Lifter 5,000 air helper spring on our 2017 Ford F250.

High quality and heavy duty. Good instructions as well. Just got them installed yesterday on my 2009 F-150 crew cab with 6.5' box. I also have the B&W turnover gooseneck ball hitch and my main concern was still being able to mount these. Fit like a charm, no interference at all. I wish I would have purchased them sooner. Sometimes we haul loads that might be just a bit heavy for an F-150, but we are careful. These will certainly help. I have similar air bag type suspensions install on our other two work trucks and I love them. What I did was got myself a 1/4" compression tee and plumbed both air bags into one valve. That way, they air up evenly. It comes with everything to air up each bag separately but I prefer them to be the same. They cost about $6 at any hardware store. I mounted the single air fill valve near the drivers tail light inside the box facing forward. There is an opening where the tail light harness runs up and I followed that with the air valve. I drilled a hole and snaked a tie wire down and through some finagling I managed to get the valve out the hole and mounted. Looks good and is out of the way. Install took me about 5 hours from tools out to tools away, but I was not in a big hurry. I aired them up to 70 psi and drove home looking like a hot rod with the back kicked up. Checked the air pressure this morning and all is well. No leaks as far as I can tell. Highly recommended and a great price as well. 643462

I have a 2019 Nissan Titan XD with the 5.6 GAS motor. Wanted to do an Airlift suspension to provide a little support and get my headlights perfectly back to level when towing my travel trailer. No one makes an airbag kit for the gas XD, but after discussing it some with John H at etrailer, I decided to go with the kit for the diesel truck and see how things went. The kit for the diesel truck fit perfectly, except that there is an emissions component hung from a bracket on the driver's sign frame that prevents a direct install of the driver's side bag. My shop was able to install the kit with no trouble - they just had to bend the bracket with the small emissions component attached upwards for clearance. Everything else went in as designed. Great fit - can't wait to see it work under load. 669525

I have had the air bags installed for over a year now. From the boat ramp, camper and dump trailer these things just work GREAT. I will add a set of these to every truck i owe from now on! So nice to be able to level you truck out regardless it being a large or small load. They truly give your truck a safer ride when towing! 526431

Came well packaged, all itsy bitsy parts accounted for. Says no drilling required but you will need a cutting wheel or hacksaw to cut a bolt off. Instructions are pretty good but pictures sometimes don't show exactly what you need to know. My favorite part 2 hrs install. We all know that means at least 4. One more hour and I'll be finished. 426268

One year later I still like these airbags. My truck rides level and handles smoothly. Without a load, however, its stiff in back and bounces, even with the airbags deflated.

Have had the air bags installed for 3-4 weeks now. Love them! Huge difference in ride quality when hauling or towing heavy loads. My only criticism is in the design. The left side fit perfect and the bag is perfectly aligned vertically but the right side bag is canted slightly. Almost as if the bottom brackets holes are drilled slightly off. I called the company and was told that up to 15 degrees is acceptable. It just looks as though the bag may wear more but time will tell I guess. I would still recommend. Also looking at purchasing the compressor system to ensure the bags always have adequate pressure. 421216

The addition of the Air Lift is by far something I should have done years ago. I was short in time so I had my local Midas shop install them. They work so well. I only needed 20 lbs. of pressure to level the truck and trailer. On the road, the trailer rode better, braking felt better, and the up and down motion I disliked going over bumps is gone. Awesome product for safety while towing. 568497

About a year ago, I installed this on my 2013 Ram 1500 with the hemi. I pull an enclosed 6x12 trailer with my tools and equipment in it. The trailer has a heavy tongue weight and is driven in city traffic every day. This kit has saved my front tires from wearing any more than they did as well as how easy it is to adjust the height of the truck based on my current load. I recommend it. 295497

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

I haul a 8' truck camper that pops up, it has a app. 1400 # weight to it. I also pull a 17' Lund boat that is loaded with my 2011 Dodge 1500. When I first put the truck camper on the truck before installation of the air bags, my truck squatted 6", basically it bottomed out. But when I put the air bags on, WOW, what a difference it made. Now when I travel down the road, there is no more swaying, or bouncing like it use to do on my Chevey that I use to haul it all with without any air bags. But now I see Dodge these are put on all their trucks. I am SO HAPPY I purchased these, & would recommend them to anyone. I told my neighbor about them & he put a set on his F2500, to pull his 31' 5th wheel, & he loves them. I was 65yrs. young when I purchased & installed these Air Bags, & was a welder for 45yrs.. nut if you have any doubts weather you can put them on. Well relax the video that shows you how to put them on when you purchased them makes it a breeze. I hope this easess your mind if you are in doubt about making the purchase. And the price I believe was more than fare. Good Luck to All, And May GOD RICHLY BLESS ALL WHO CALL ON HIS NAME. 345917

Fast shipping and excellent customer service. Will continue to purchase from etrailer. Took about 8 hrs to install the kit. I'm sure that would have been faster for someone who has done it before but I took my time. The air bags work just as I wanted and the kit appears to be high quality materials. If you purchase a kit take your time installing as it's best to fit and refit a couple times on parts of the kit to ensure everything is going as laid out by the instructions. 72041

Thanks for the follow up. That is exactly what I love about this company, the customer service is out of this world!!! Everyone I have talked with there has gone above and beyond to make sure we are happy with our many many purchases. Everything we have bought there for a 5th wheel has been great. We do not have one complaint. Your company will have us for customers forever. It is so hard to find companys that truly care about their customers like you all!!! Thank you so much!! for taking time to go that extra mile!!!

The product was delivered in a perfect condition and as scheduled. Very simple installation for 2016 Ford F150. The Ride with 5 lbs is better than the factory ride. I thought it would be a rough based on what others said. The rear height did get raised by 1/2" at 5 lbs. With a good bicycle pump it took 4 pumps to get to 20 lbs., that's much better than getting out the the compressor. 485152

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

This was an airbag install that took me about 4 hours. I did this in my garage with a minimum of tools. I did end up about an inch higher bed height even with empty airbags and no weight on the vehicle but this may come down with use. The shipping from etrailer was fast and the sales agents have firm grasp of their products and installation procedures. I can always get a straight answer from them. I also ordered the curt under bed gooseneck hitch. This took me about 8 hours to install but I was in no hurry and wanted it done right. Thanks etrailer for great service. 491845

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

Installed this kit a month ago and used it three times pulling my travel trailer. Works as described and has performed as I expected it to. I have a GMC 1500 and no matter if I have my travel trailer with a 600lb tongue weight or 6'x10' single axle trailer with a 160lb tongue weight, with load of course, my truck would squat in the back. I already added a sway control/weight distribution system and now wanted to get my truck in the right configuration while pulling. For safety and performance. After reading a lot of reviews I chose this kit. This kit was easy to install but did take 3 or 4 hours. I wasn't in a rush and wanted to make sure I followed everything in the instructions and not miss anything. I didn't want to rush through it to miss a critical step and then lose brake fluid due to a hole in a brake line. Mainly didn't want to break anything important nor did I want to puncture the air lifts or the poly lines. Kit went on as expected and fit perfectly. The instructions included pictures and examples to follow that illustrate how everything fits and where everything should be routed. I would definitely buy again. 589432

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

I ordered the Air Lift 5000 from etrailer and I was very pleased with doing business with them. I normally order parts from someplace else but I will be using etrailer for all my future needs. The part was delivered on time and etrailer helped me make the right choice for my needs. Helpful, knowledgeable, timely, and provided the right part for the job; 5 stars from me for that. Now onto the Air Lift 5000. I was amazed at how detailed the instructions were. They made it extremely easy to follow the instructions while building the assemblies. Probably one of the easiest part assemblies I have ever put on a truck and definitely the most detailed instructions I have ever seen. Everything bolted directly to stock mounts on the frame and no drilling was required. After getting everything mounted to the truck and installing the air lines, I was a little skeptical about the air line connections and I was afraid of leaks. I filled both air lines to 60 PSI after the install and when I checked the pressure this morning, I was still at 60 PSI. The last thing I will cover is the ride. I have not towed my trailer yet but I am excited for when I do. I dropped the air pressure to 7 PSI this morning and took a 30 mile drive. The difference this part has made is unbelievable. It still rides like a truck but it is much stiffer in the back now when driving on rough roads which adds a huge difference to the ride quality. I can only imagine the difference I will experience when towing my 12k trailer. Overall, I could not be more happy with my purchase. etrailer has 5 star customer service and they sold me a 5 star part. 484223

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

The product arrive in a timely matter as with everything that I have purchased from e-trailer , the only problem I had was there were some lock nuts missing from the package , 2 pouches were opened when I opened the box , [ this was from the factory not e-trailer fought ] the photo's in the installation booklet could have been a little clearer , my truck has sway bars and none of the photo's showed them that I could see and the installation book didn't talk about them , Had to figure it out on my own . Other than that no problems , took about 4 hours to install , a 4 point drive on lift would be a great help , also remove the spare tire , it helps 513733

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

Finished the install last weekend fairly smoothly. I jacked up one side of the truck at a time since I only had one jack. Had to put the jack on cinder blocks to get it high enough to engage the leaf spring front mount. One comment/suggestion for the installation guide. The only thing I struggled with was the parking brake cable. It was exactly in the way of engaging the bottom bracket to the axle. No matter how I moved the bracket it would not clear the cable. Then the light came on, release the brake dummy! Once the brake was released there was plenty of room to engage the assembly onto the axle. Of course, I did put some chalks on the front tires to keep the truck from rolling while I was underneath... No leaks, and it seems to ride much smoother than before. Thanks for a great product, 104826

I still like the product but it seems to have a slow leak somewhere and will not hold air pressure for a week at the original setting. Guess I need to do a bubble leak test, just have not gotten to it. Other than that the product is great.

Previously installed Firestone air helper springs in my Ford F250. Wish I would have ordered them instead of the Air Lift helper springs. While quality of Air Lift appears to be good, installation compared to installing the Firestone system is a real bear. Firestone easily as good quality and much simpler/easier to install. 99455

The air bags went in great, and pretty easy. I did not like the recommended location for the air valves. So I put them through the body panels to have them inside the back doors. They work great like that. I just put in a 7/16” grommet in the panel to run the air line through the outside panel. Works great and easy to fill with air. 544314

  • The airbags that I recommend for your 2018 Ford F-250 are the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs part # AL57399. The Air Lift airbags will do an excellent job of improving both safety and ride quality. They are adjustable which means you can inflate each spring independently for side-to-side leveling of off-center loads. The kit...
