If you want secure storage you can actually take with you, this portable headrest safe gives you both. The removable interior safe slides out when needed, locks in place when installed, and still fits a full-size pistol without taking up much space.
When you're making quick stops where certain items can't come inside, leaving valuables loose in the cabin or tucked into the usual spots creates a problem before you even lock the door. This headrest safe gives you hidden storage with a removable slide-out safe that unlocks from the housing, slides out, and can be carried when needed. The safe locks in place while installed and is TSA compliant for travel and air transport, giving you a fixed storage spot in the vehicle plus a portable safe when the situation calls for it. Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we are gonna be talking about The Headrest Safe Slide Safe. Great option if you want something that's gonna be very secure, it's not gonna be noticeable, and if you ever need to take it out of your vehicle, you can easily do that. So let's take a closer look at it. (air whooshing) Now, there's a lot of reasons to invest in a safe inside your vehicle. One of them might be you can't carry that weapon or item with you somewhere, putting in a safe would go a long way or your state might require you to have a safe inside your vehicle if you have a handgun in there.
Now, there's a big difference when it comes to this one compared to a lot of other safes out there, and that's, this one's a lot more concealed. Because if someone sees a safe inside your vehicle and they're trying to break in, at the end of the day, if they really want inside of there, they're gonna find a way to do so. But if they don't know where that safe is, or they can't see that safe, then they're not gonna break into it. So that's why I like this one here a lot. But you don't have to just use it for a handgun.
You can use it for other things too. So if you're going out somewhere, like I'll do some hikes, I don't wanna carry my phone with me for those hikes or even jogs, then putting it in that safe is gonna not only keep it safe, but out of sight, out of mind. This is gonna be a different color from our seats. You can get this in different colors so you can get it to match up so it looks more natural. You'll also notice that we have a couple different versions of this safe right here on our website.
So again, this is gonna be the slide out one, but we're also going to have the Vulcan version. The Vulcan version is just designed to stay inside of your vehicle. But what I like about the slide out version is if maybe you forgot your holster, or you want an easier way to carry your handgun and maybe some ammo in here, you can just grab the whole case like this. And you are gonna get two headrests with this kit. The one behind me right here is gonna be on the driver's side.
That's gonna be your dummy one. (car chiming) But let's take this out, just so we can get a closer look at some of the components of this, like the locks. So with the lock, there's gonna be three different ways of opening it up. When you first get this, you can start activating the biometric feature, so that's gonna use your fingerprints. I'm not gonna show you how to do that today, just because once I put this into the system, it's gonna stay that way. So again, we're just doing it for demonstration purposes, but you will get a QR code with your actual safe that you can actually set that up with. But the way you open it up is just press this button here and turn that dial. And we can get a better look at the inside of this. So we're gonna have this padding here, very soft. So if you have anything that's a little more delicate, like some jewelry, you don't have to worry about it getting scuffed up on some hard surfaces. And at the very back, you're gonna notice there's this center hole, that's gonna be for your handgun to sit in place so it's not flopping around, banging around in the headrest, and we're gonna have two smaller holes below it. That's gonna be for some magazines. And you can put other things in here too. So just for more sites of reference, we are gonna have my phone and wallet in here and I could probably put two other people's belongings in here as well. But if you need more of a frame of reference for size, you can actually check the specs here on our website. Now, the other two ways of locking this up is gonna be with this code. So first, you have to set the biometrics and then you could put a code that you get to pick out to easily access this. Now, let's say you lose access to power, there's two things you can do. So you can quickly charge it up with this USB-C here at the top, but it's not designed for you to continually charge this up, it's only a one time use kind of thing. And what that's gonna do is give power to the AAA batteries in here. So eventually you will need to replace those batteries. And the way you're gonna do that is it's gonna be this little door here. You just loosen up this Philip head screw and then you can put two new AAA batteries in here. Now, the other way to lock this up and unlock it is gonna be with the keys. Now your keys, they're gonna come with two, and they're gonna have this really thin Allen key to 'em. Right now you can't see where that keyhole is, just 'cause this little knob's in the way. So you just loosen up the two little set bolts on either side. Now, I will say this can be a little bit awkward to get to when it's in your headrest, but you're rarely gonna have to do this. But it is still doable since I did it earlier, and now you can actually see where that key is, where that hole is. And just like that, it opens up. One thing you might be thinking about is, it'd be pretty easy just to take the headrest instead of just trying to break into the safe itself. Well this also comes with this anchor point. And the way this anchor point works is when you're installing it, you'll push this into the base of your seat, the sides will push in to allow to fit in there. And when it reaches the base, it will expand. So this will be a permanent modification you're making to your vehicle. With this beam right behind your head, you wanna make sure this is gonna be something that is comfortable. So for the dummy headrest, that feels like any other type of headrest I've seen. Now, with the one with the safe though, I will say, that feels a little bit tougher, even when I press into it. There is some give there for that initial padding, but you definitely will notice a difference in just with how soft it is. But this has been tested in some crashes to make sure if your head does hit against here really hard, it's not gonna hurt you. Overall, I think if you are looking for a safe that's gonna be really easy to use, especially in emergencies where it only takes seconds to open up, it's gonna be concealed, doesn't take up any extra room, and you like that slide out feature, we can take out the safe completely. This is gonna be a great option for you. Now, if you like everything about this but you don't ever plan on taking out the safe, then I'd recommend checking out the Vulcan one. But either way, you can't go wrong. But I can show you how to get this set up inside your vehicle, it doesn't take very long. So lemme show you it now. (air whooshing) So the first thing I like to do is just lay everything out so I know I have everything I'm gonna need. So we're gonna have the headrest right here with the safe inside of it, we're gonna have the legs, and typically these are already gonna be attached to the bracket it sits on, you're gonna have the shims, you'll notice there's a big pile right next to 'em, you're just gonna have to find the right one that fits. I'll go over that here soon. You're gonna have the keys and we're gonna have this anchor point. So I moved over to our car and I wanna make sure we had that old headrest removed. Again, it's gonna be a different process for everyone. When we're looking at the top of this bracket, I wanna be able to adjust these legs. If yours already come pre-tightened down, you're gonna have some Allen keys, just loosen up those bolts a little bit. The reason why we want to have some adjustment here is one, we wanna make sure it's gonna fit into the original holes, right here, but we also wanna make sure it's as even as possible, so I don't want something where both sides are gonna be all the way pushed over. We also wanna test out our shims. We're gonna have a bunch of different sizes. So for example, I have this smaller one, when I bring it over here to this hole, now, that's a lot of movement in here. That's not what I'm looking for. I want something that's gonna be a snug fit, but I'm not putting a lot of pressure to get it inside of here. And in some cases, your legs, since these are universal, might just fit in here from the get-go. So you might not have to mess with those shims at all. My case today, I will. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna grab the one that actually fits. You're gonna notice there's a flat section to it. I'm gonna push this on with that facing the top til it fits like that. You do that for the other side. Right now I'm just doing it for demonstration purposes. We'll adjust this, put it inside of here, and then we'll just adjust our bracket until it is centered. I might as well just tighten these down 'cause it'll save me a couple extra steps. And this will also ensure that this bracket doesn't slide around on me when I'm attaching it to the actual headrest. You just do that for all eight of them. Now let's come back over here to our safe. And what I'm gonna do is we're gonna remove it. So make sure you do open up that door, 'cause that latch on the bottom here will get in your way. Slide that out of here, just like that. And what that's gonna allow us to do is attach our plate on the bottom of here. Now, the reason why we have to do it like this is 'cause we're gonna have some smaller hardware, and that hardware is gonna go through these elongated channels into these threaded sections of the bracket. So gonna just line that up. I just wanna get the first one started because that will allow me to at least hold this in place and make any adjustments if I need to. So again, don't fully tighten it down. You'll see it'll kind of fall down a bit. And this will allow me to move it around some. You can simply just tuck those back underneath the bracket. And that's a good time to do that, once you have one of these in place. And then I'm gonna put the other two bolts on here. Again, we wanna line it up with the threaded section on either side of each leg. This is fully tightened down now, so I'm just gonna grab my actual safe itself, push it back in here, you can wait to do this till later. I just like to do it now, makes it a little bit easy, and that's good to go. And this is gonna be the next step if you're gonna be permanently installing this inside of your vehicle. So we're gonna have that anchor point. The way that installs is it just threads on to the bottom, just like that. And when you push it into those holes, it will push this in until it reaches the bottom and expands back out, so you can't take it out. So since I'm doing it for demonstration purposes today, I am not gonna be installing this. So let's go in the car now. It is really important when you're doing this to make sure you got it in the right orientation, so if you wanna just be safe about it, no pun intended, being safe here, make sure that it is open in this direction. And then make sure I don't lose my shims and drop it into place. And once this is on there all the way and adjusted to the height that you want it to sit at, we'll be good to go. But that pretty much does it for installing it. Now you just have to do the same thing for the driver's side. It's actually gonna be a little bit easier to actually attach that bracket to the bottom.
