Features to know about

Power in the Dark: Nite-Glow LED Casing

When connecting your trailer in low-light conditions, visibility often becomes a challenge. Thanks to the innovative Nite-Glow LED casing, this 7-way RV-style trailer connector illuminates upon activation of your vehicle's tail lights. This feature allows you to swiftly verify a proper connection, giving you an immediate visual confirmation that power is flowing from your tow vehicle to your trailer, even in the darkest environments.

Maintain Strong Connections: Easy-to-Grip Tabs

Constantly struggling with plugging and unplugging your trailer connector? The easy-to-grip tabs on this Hopkins trailer connector are designed for simplicity and efficiency. These tabs allow you to quickly establish or disengage a connection without hassle, ensuring you spend less time fumbling and more time on the road.

Handle the Elements: Corrosion-Resistant Terminals

Towing often exposes connectors to harsh weather conditions, but the terminals on this connector are built to last. The corrosion-resistant design ensures that the connection points withstand the elements, safeguarding your trailer's wiring integrity and providing reliable performance across various driving conditions.

Ultimate Trailer Safety: Wiring Configuration Included

Wiring your trailer can feel like a guessing game if you’re unsure about the color-coded functions. This 7-way connector simplifies the process by providing a clear wiring configuration: Green for right turn signal, Yellow for left, White for ground, Brown for tail and side marker lights, Blue for electric brake, Red for auxiliary, and Purple for backup lights. This pre-defined setup ensures precise installations for safer travels.

Built to Last: Impact-Resistant Plastic Construction

Rough roads and travel demands call for durable gear, and this trailer connector takes it on with an impact-resistant plastic construction. It's designed to endure bumps and knocks without compromising its structural integrity, making it perfect for both everyday use and more adventurous towing missions.

It has been well used and has never gave me any problems I see it working for many years to come it is one of many great products I have purchased from e etrailer keep up the good work keep america rolling thanks Erich Clasen

by:

Horrible product, the plastic is weak. After tightening the screws the thin red plastic cover cracked. This definitely would not hold up in a camping environment. If the plug were to hit the ground from a fall or be dropped inadvertently the thin red shell would crack. I decided to replace the 8ft section of cord from the junction box on the trailer. With a Bargman molded 7 way trailer cable.

I am very grateful to etrailer for always providing excellent service. Orders are received in a timely and accurate fashion. The quality of their products is superb. All items ordered function as described with no malfunctions. The trailer and vehicle wiring connectors I have ordered were a great replacement for old existing equipment that was constantly failing.
Very professional company. Very high quality products. I look forward to continued business with them.

I had a double blow out and one of my rims cracked. So I ordered these and they look great. I plan on installing them on my gooseneck this weekend. The four lighted 7 way plugs are awesome. I am slowly changing all 15 of my trailers over to these plugs. In the daytime it's hard to tell if everything is working or that a fuse hasn't blown, so these lighted plugs help you trust your connection. Thanks for the great pricing and prompt shipping.

by:

My first one of these I purchased at an auto parts store and paid a lot more for. I installed in on my tandem enclosed trailer and absolutely love it because its solid and when installed the LED light inside indicates a good connection.

by:

The led light was held by a single strand of wire, which promptly broke while wiring the plug. Suggest removing it before starting installation.

by:

Works good but you need to be sure to cut the wires to the plug clean and at the proper length

by:

Good product, one improvement would be to include directions on LED lighting. You need one wire of the LED on a positive and one on ground. I moved mine according to the purpose I needed.

by:

Designed well. Better electrical contacts than the displaced plug.

by:

This connector was just what I needed to renew my trailer/TV connection.

by:

A great addition to towing safety at night with my trailer.

by:

very good product....works well and with led light can tell is power is on

fine

by:

red plastic is more brittle than the black style, cracks if set screw is tightened too much

by:

Product works great, would've prefered if it lit up brighter but no issue. Unfortunately immediately after purchase I lost the screw that holds it together and it's very difficult to find a replacement being its a specialty screw. Would buy again

by:

Good product, it's good quality. Was better than the factory installed plug that Bigtex put on.

by:

Easy to hook trailer wires to. However, the wire for the led light is flimsy and broke during the wire connection process eliminating the benefit of a lighted plug.

by:

Continues to work as advertised/promise d.

by:

Better than expected...works great.

by:

Works great and not junky

by:

Great product

by:

Good prices and fast shipping. Strongly recommend

  • Diagram to Use When Wiring 7-way in Place of 6-Way on Horse Trailer
Your best option is going to be to use the wiring diagram I attached for 6-ways to identify the functions of the wires from the picture you sent in and then wire them according to the labelled pins on the new 7-way similar to the # HM48502 and you'd be set. Use the set screw that you see in your picture as the "top" when comparing what you have to the wiring diagram. The center pin is the 12 volt circuit on the 6-way and if you have no use for it (it has nothing to do with brake controller)...

  • Installing 7 Blade Trailer Side Connector
The Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector with Nite-Glow - Trailer End # HM48502 will connect to your trailer wiring based on the function and pin locations of the attached photo. I've also attached an article to further assist with the trailer wiring.

  • Does The Tekonsha T-One Wiring Harness 118291 Have a 7-Way Blade Or Pin Connector?
Yes, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118291 for your 2020 Honda Passport will accept the Hopkins 7-way blade connector 48505. As we do not currently carry the 48505, the # HM48502 is the same connector with a glow feature to show the connector is powered. You will need a Mounting Bracket # PK12711U for the 7-way connector. If using on a trailer with electric brakes I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 be installed with the Wiring Adapter # 3070-P for...

  • How to Wire the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector HM48502
Not sure which LED lights you mean Wayne. There's four different terminals that control the lighting functions on 7-way connectors like the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector item # HM48502, you were looking at. I have linked a diagram below that will show you exactly how to get this 7-way connector set up. What kind of trailer do you have?

  • Is Brake Output Circuit of Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector with Nite-Glow # HM48502 Active
Yes, the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector with Nite-Glow # HM48502 that you referenced can be used with the brake output circuit as that pin is active in the connector.

  • Replacing 6-Way of Trailer with 7-Way Wiring Diagram
6-way and 7-way wiring typically use different wire colors by function so there isn't going to be a way to use the color of your wires to install the part # HM48502. So the best solution I can give you is to use a jumper wire from a 12 volt battery positive post to put voltage on all of the wires on the trailer's wiring so that you can identify all of the circuits and then use the attached diagram by function.

  • 7-Way Tester Recommendation that Plugs in And Test All Lighting Functions
If you are looking for a 7-way tester that plugs into a vehicle's 7-way and allows you to test all of the functions what you'd want is the part # C73NR. The part # HM48502 isn't really a "tester" it does light up when the running or headlights are activated though.

  • Trailer Connector That Lights Up for use With 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500
We do have an option for a 7-way trailer end connector that has lights but plugging in the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ LED Test Lights # HM48503 upside down would not allow you to see the LED function as it would face the ground. Instead I recommend checking out the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector with Nite-Glow # HM48502 because it will illuminate when plugged in. I have added a link to a video review of this connector for you to check out which shows how the...
