1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today we're gonna take a look at this Taskmaster Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range E, mounted on this 15 inch Vesper Silver Modular Steel Trailer Wheel with the six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly's ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. Now on this assembly, the tire is match mounted and balanced to the wheel for ride, comfort, durability. And match mounting of tire's and wheels is a process in which the tires installation position on the wheel is specifically selected to minimize the final force of imbalance.
The method of match mounting is to align the tire's lightest spot with the wheel's heaviest spot to eliminate most of the radial force that can cause tire and suspension wear. Then the final balancing is done by applying weights to specific spots on the front. You can see them right here on the front. And if we spin it around onto the back, you'll be able to see it there on the back. This will eliminate any chance of uneven wear vibration.
The wheel itself is a steel wheel. It is a modular design, and by that we mean it has the round holes all the way around. It is sturdy and corrosion resistant. They do use a silver acrylic enamel finish on it, which will resist chipping and other damage better than your powder coat finishes. And the finish is applied after a zinc phosphate pretreatment, and it covers an e-coat primer layer.
Does give the excellent corrosion resistance. Has a salt spray rating of more than a thousand hours. Now the measurement on the wheel, the dimer is 15 inches. The width on just the wheel is six inches wide. Bolt pattern is a six on five and a half inch bolt pattern.
And if you wanna measure that bolt pattern on a wheel like this that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty simple because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So just pick any hole, let's say this one. Measure from the center of the starting hole to the center of the hole right across from it. On this, it'll measure five and a half inches. So that means it's a six on five and a half inch hole pattern. The wheel lug size this uses is a half inch by 20. And the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,835 pounds. Now if you notice, it does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately. You do want to get one that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole, because when you install your cap it'll go through this hole, the diameter of this pilot hole is 4.25 inches. Now the tire that's on it, it is a radial tire. Means it's constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for a nice, long life. It is great for highway use, and they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation. Now we mentioned, this is an ST tire, which is a Special Trailer tire. Has sturdy sidewall so that it can handle heavy loads. It is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall. ST, for Special Trailer, ST225/75R15. The R means it's a radial. So the section width on this is 8.8 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top where it's inflated 28.3. And this is a load range E tire, which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. So it has a maximum load capacity of 2,830 pounds at 80 PSI. Now they do offer a speed rating on this and it is stamped on the sidewall, but it is stamped in a letter designation. And where you'll find that it's right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index. And then you'll see the letter M. Speed rating M will mean this is an 81 mile per hour speed rated tire. This whole assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it will exceed federal motor vehicle safety standards. One last thing is they do offer a two year platinum plus warranty, which will include emergency tire change service and other benefits. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Taskmaster Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range E, mounted on this 15 inch Vesper Silver Modular Steel Trailer Wheel.

I bought this as a spare for the camper and forgot about it until I needed it two months later. Its been on the ground for 9 months with no problems. Again, its something I can forget about until my pressure check before a trip.

I purchased these tires for the higher speed rating 81 compared to the tires I replaced that were only rated to 65. Which is below typical interstate speeds. I year later the tires and rims are fine.

Still holding up as expected. We put a lot of miles on our 6x10 cargo trailer, single axle. Ill wear these out before they dry rot or time out. Seems like a very fair deal, will do it again on my new trailer.
