Just purchased for an 05 VR6 Touareg. Quick shipping, hitch looks great, and at a good price. I have purchased other Curt products and been very happy. I will install it this weekend if the freezing rain stops.

I recently purchased a tow hitch and wiring harness from e trailer for my vehicle, i was extremely happy with the service, prompt updates on shipping, which was spot on and the quality of the equipment was excellent.
I would use and recommend e trailer to anyone.

Thanks guys
I just have to install now!

I must say I looked at the how to video and said, that looks to easy. I just completed installation and was just as easy as the video. That is a first for me in any do it yourself project. Thank you so much for the great service and quick shipping

We bought a trailer hitch for a VW Toureg and the shipping was 3 to 5 days faster at no additional charge. The installation video was very helpful and the installation went without a "hitch". No pun intended. We will use etrailer again as we have needs.

Toureg Trailer HitchThe service, product and direction that I received from this company was phenomenal. Really, exceptional. In this day and age there are not too many companies that come even close to what etrailer.com delivered on.
I had hesitation on a DIY install of a trailer hitch on my 2008 Touareg. I submitted a request for info. and received detail response to my questions in addition to instructions for the install.
Turned out to be a breeze, no problems whatsoever.
Thanks to everyone at etrailer. Awesome

Not only is this hitch a great product, etrailer.com is a great company. I work in customer support and I must say this is the best customer support I have ever seen. I ordered this hitch Friday night and it shipped Saturday. I received an email from etrailer.com literally an hour after the hitch arrived with a link to an installation video which made installation a breeze. The video was very detailed. Do not hesitate to order any of your towing products from this company.
Thank you etrailer.com,
Travis

Very good product but the fit wasn't perfect. It bolted up no issues, and installation was pretty much like the video. However when putting the bumper cover back on the 2" hitch receiver hits the fascia a bit. That made it very difficult to re-screw in the lower 4 bolts of the bumper fascia without bending the metal support (sheet metal) that the lower fascia bolts back into.

by:
2004 PorscheCayenne

Fitment was perfect on a 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The bolts provided did not fit (wrong thread size), but the OEM bolts were fine. The bumper cover required trimming, I used a die-cutter air tool. The finished product came out looking extremely clean, like a factory fit... and was significantly more affordable than the OEM Porsche hitch.

2011 Audi Q7

Great Hitch, fit perfectly as advertised. Did it at night with my friend and it took us 2 hours to install . Perhaps in the light of day it would have been easier. Instructions need to be updated as there were screws we and nuts that we ended up figuring out ourselves. Better instructions would have allowed us to install even faster because part of the time was spend looking for the reason bumper wasn't coming off.

Can't wait to use my newly installed hitch. Thanks etrailer.com!!!

2012 Audi Q7

I installed the unit on my 2012 Audi Q7 TDI - with Regards to the Trailer Hitch itself = A+. If you plan to install this yourself - pay attention to the 10 out of 10 on the difficulty scale when given the lack of details within the instructions. It took me a good 4 hours to complete, as I kept second guessing the basic instructions provided and searched the blog/youtube etc.. for needed details. The Q7 has 4 screws within each wheel well and 4- 10mm nuts that need to be removed from within the spare tire well. Once all these are removed you have to be very aggressive in order to pull away the Fascia from its wheel well clips/retainers. You must pull away from the vehicle (out to the side with a loud POP) and then towards the rear. There is a plastic support that holds the Fascia to the vehicle at the rear of the wheel wells - the bumper Fascia both clips in and has the screws attached that get removed -it is a tight fit and you cant be gentle. This is where a second pair of hands will help - the wiring harnesses (3 in total -rt side of vehicle) need to be disconnected while you hold the Fascia in the air - not quite long enough to set on ground without pulling things too tight. After the Bumper Fascia "Pops" off - everything is clear from then on.

I then trimmed the Access door/plate with a Dremel and Grinder to fill in all of the extra space (see Picture) - take your time with this = measure twice and cut once because you are on your own as there is no stencil provided.

Warning - The Curt Hitch Receiver does not replace the original/allow for the use of the original Audi Tow eye tool to be used. The tow eye access caps become useless - there are the 2 cap/flaps in the bumper.

This product is still the best purchase ever for my vehicle. People ask about it all the time and I tell them that I purchased it from etrailer and even installed it myself after watching the video on etrailers site. Even my auto dealer complimented my hitch even though I didnt purchase from them. Ive connected a simple bike rack to a more sturdier bike rack to haul 4 bikes. Love this hitch.

Took me half a day to install, but I'm in no hurry. The cutout for the plastic fascia on my 2005 Porsche Cayenne needed to be 4 x 8 inches.

I ordered this Curt hitch for the mighty Touareg (2010 V6 gasser). Shipping & delivery were great. I took an afternoon to install it using the great directions from Curt and from etrailer.com. The hitch is exactly what you expect, looks great, and doesn't stick out too far from the Touareg. We've used it for our 4-bike Hollywood rack (also bought here on etrailer) and it's been awesome!

My husband install this product on our 2004 Touareg in less than 1 hour by himself. We are very pleased with this product considering the dealer wanted a $1000 and they were not sure if they could do it. We ordered the product for standard delivery but the company upgraded are shipping for free and we received the product in two days. It was great to acutally receive something free during hard economic times. We received emails right after to let us know our order was received and additional email letting us know the product was shipped. Thanks etrailer!!!

2005 Porsche Cayenne S - Easy bolt on solution, did it in 2 hours, nothing particularly tricky.. used a cutting wheel on the plastic to trim around hitch area while the bumper was off. other than that, it was totally straight forward. instructions are adequate, shipping was fast, and most importantly, i save $2200 by not taking it to the dealer. what a joke what they try to to charge.

by:

Nicely made and heavy duty. But pushing the bumper up like 1/4 inch. So make a dent on the bumper.
And a chain hookup is to deep. And sticking out on the side like big ears. So hard to mount the wiring harness.
Bottom line. It is BAD design.
I end to buy a use oem.

by:

I like the product. Josh from etrailer was very helpful! I install it myself and save a couple hundred if I bring it to a shop for install. It was installed on a 2006 Cayenne. You would have to trim your bumper to get the hitch to stick out. Overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase. I have not connected the wiring for the tail/turn/brake lights module yet. It’s going to be use for bike rack for now anyway.

Product arrived in a timely manner, great price point. This is the third hitch and wiring kit I have purchased form etrailer.com. The help videos made it clear how to install hitch and wiring kits. I am a very satisfied customer and will returning here for the next one.

  • Can Volkswagen Touareg Use Weight Distribution When Towing
You will need to check your owners manual to see what the trailer towing capacity is for your Touareg. Many times the construction of a vehicle will restrict the amount of weight the vehicle can tow. I looked at a 2010 Touareg and the trailer hitch we have that is designed for the 2010 is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13220. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. A technical note states that you cannot use weight distribution with this hitch. You will want...

  • Weight Distribution and Brake Controller for a 2007 Audi Q7
The hitch for the Audi Q7 does not have a weight distribution rating because the Curt hitch will not increase the weight capacity by adding the system as some hitches do. So you can install the weight distribution, however the weight capacity will stay at 6,000 lbs which is plenty for your application. As far as the brake controller, you will not have a controller installed in the vehicle, but you may have the vehicle pre-wired for a controller. This means there may be a harness from the...

  • Why Does Curt Trailer Hitch Have Lower Rating Than Towing Capacity of 2006 Porsche Cayenne
Usually when a trailer hitch capacity doesn't quite match up to the limits of the vehicle it's designed to fit, it's because it's also a fit for other vehicles that have a different tow rating. I wish I had a better answer for you, but the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # 13220 does list a 6,000 pound towing capacity and I can't recommend going over this limit. These hitches do likely have a safety margin in place with regards to their listed ratings (which I think you alluded to), but...
