Question:
I just ordered the curt hitch for my Touareg and noticed on several technical forums that there are issues with the bolt holes lining up with the factory location on the Curt hitches. Is this a common problem? See two comments from buyers of the same hitch for my application and advise if I will also need the thinner than 14mm bolts.

The only issue that I am aware of with this hitch is the relative complexity of the installation. The install actually is not very difficult, but the rear bumper cover and taillight assemblies need to be removed which tends to frighten some folks.
The hitch includes the 12mm bolts, if your Touareg requires the 14mm bolts, it is perfectly acceptable to use the existing bolts that held the bumper beam in place.
