I have only towed my trailer once with this, but it worked perfectly. The parts all arrived very quickly, they were very easy to install, the wiring worked the first time (I followed the enclosed instructions), and it looks great. I would definitely go this route again if we need to put a hitch on a different vehicle. The price was right and the ease of installation made it absolutely worth it. I highly recommend this product from etrailer.com.
Great product. Installed in 15-20 min. Without dropping the rear exhaust brackets. Fit perfectly.
I have 2 Jeep Patriots (2008 and 2010). I put one of these on both of them. It was an easy installation as my older son helped me bolt them on. We use them to haul a bike rack (3 bike platform rack). They work great for that. It also gives a little extra metal at the back of the car in case someone was to bump the rear of your car at a stop light.
I needed a hitch to pull my motorcycle trailer without having to use my gas guzzling 4X4 V8 pickup truck.This hitch was very easy to install on my 2008 Jeep Compass. It simply bolted in place with no problems and I didn't even detach the muffler like the instructions suggested to do. The wiring harness was an easy install also. Hardest part was running the power wire to the battery. I just followed the brake lines forward and that worked great to keep it away from anything that could damage it. I would recommend both of these products to anyone.
I purchased a trailer hitch receiver and wiring harness for my daughter's 2010 Jeep Patriot. I had planned on spending Saturday installing it for her. Unfortunately, when I crawled under the Jeep, I experienced my first case of Vertigo. I was unable to lie on my back and could not install the receiver. However, I was able to read the instructions and coach my daughter through the installation. In less than one and a half hours, she installed her wiring harness and hitch receiver. The instructions were straight forward and every part was a perfect fit! I would highly recommend this product. The team at etrailer provided outstanding service and I am planning on purchasing a receiver for my Wrangler from them in the future.
VERY NICE, well made, great price, fit perfect 2 inch hitch assembly! Super fast shipping! Received item 2 days after ordering. Took less than half an hour to actually install the hitch with the help of my floor jack to hold it in place. Did not need to jack the car up or cut any body pieces or loosen exhaust on my JEEP COMPASS like some videos show. VERY PLEASED which is hard to say now-a-days. THANKS

Hitch still working like new after a year, will order in the future.
Too easy to install, no joke! Out of the box and on our 2010 Patriot in 15 minutes, no exhaust removal needed. Free shipping took one week to arrive but it was free. Wiring package took about 2 hours, I was not comfortable running power wire as shown in video. I chose to run parallel with rear brake line instead, which took longer. Dealer wanted $500 to install, did it myself for $200 and 2.25 hours of my time and use of my torque wrench...
It took about 30 minutes to install. Im not a mechanic, but I do have some manual skills. E-trailer site mentions I would have to widen holes for the bolts to fit. But the bolts went straight through. The instructions booklet was a bit confusing too. It said I would need do do a cut-out in my rear bumper plastic. This was not mentioned on e-trailer site. It turned out they were right. Not cutting, no drilling. Perfect fit. Those were actually good news, but still a tad confusing. Otherwise, it looks pretty sturdy. Time will tell for rusting issues.
The product was exactly as described. Fit my 2009 Jeep Patriot Limited 4x4 perfectly. Took me about 30 min to install. Even a beginner could do this install with minimal headache.
Did a little homework and found this to be the top choice. Seemed to be a great compromise between the most rugged hitch with the lowest price. The ease of installation, and the installation video as a reference, had me sold!

This trailer hitch was so easy to install. I thought I would need help but I didn't. I didnt even have to lower the exhaust as the instructions say. I simply lifted the hitch, held it with one hand and installed a bolt with the other. Aligning the bolts was easy. Had some difficulty installing the nuts but after manning up, it went on. There is little wiggle room but was able to tighten the bolts. Instructions say to torque the nuts 115 ft. lbs ( not much). I do not have a torque wrench and did not want to spend money for a one time use, so I used elbow grease. Tightened it down till I lifted my self off the ground. The hitch will not move at all after that. Very . Gonna put my 3 bicycle rack on it. can't wait.
This product worked out perfectly. We just needed a receiver, so we could attach a bike rack. I ordered this one on a Sunday. It came on Wednesday. I installed alone in my driveway, with just a straight wrench and a socket wrench, following the video instructions on the etrailer website. Easy.
Installation took me about 30 minutes to do by myself, with no lift. Also in the dark with a flash light. If i would have know this was this easy i would have done it a long time ago A+ product. Just wish they would give you a bundle deal, Hitch, receiver and wiring harness would be a plus.

solid product , quality!I have installed this on my 2009 Patriot.I chose this one for the added 500lbs tow capacity compared to the other matches for my vehicle and not being worried about the extra work, dificulty and time in installation -since I'm a professional when it commes to mechanics.I will never tow a 4000lbs trailer with this vehicle(far exceeds what the little jeep could do :)) so now I'll probably save time and choose the other stile without the drilling required and without the exhaust lowering requirement.
Overall a solid built hitch good fit for this car and hope to get good use for the life of the car!
This product was remarkably easy to attach to our 2009 Patriot. It was helpful to have my daughter help me, but it might have only taken me a bit longer to do myself. We didn't need to adjust the exhaust system at all to enable installation, though some of the nuts/bolts are a bit cramped to get access when tightening. However, after a few attempts with my wrenches (use a ratchet for one) to find the best reach approach, I was able to cycle through the tightening process. We also didn't have to enlarge holes; bolts fit through cleanly. Total installaiton time about 40 minutes. This product is a great deal, easy to install, and works well. We are pleased.
Blazing fast delivery. Ordered on Sunday afternoon and it was on my doorstep by the time I got home from work on Tuesday. The hitch was a direct fit onto our 2008 Patriot.

The hitch for my Jeep was a perfect fit. The installation was incredibly easy minus working the exhaust hangers off so that the exhaust could be lowered prior to installing the hitch itself.
I installed this hitch receiver on my Jeep Patriot in less than 30 minutes. I did not need to lower the muffler, cut the fascia or drill any holes. It was very easy, I used a floor jack to support one side while I rotated the receiver around the muffler and tail pipe.
Easier to install than what isI was able to install this hitch on my 2009 patriot without having to lower the exhaust, you should insert the passenger side first then the drivers side last. The drilling of the hole and fishing the bolt thru was the most difficult part. I chose this hitch for the price and added mounitng bolts. It was on sale so it was a good fit for my budget!
Great fit! Easy installation. This is the second hitch receiver I've bought from etrailer. Both installed with no problems. The installation videos on-line are great!
