Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The hidden hitch and wiring harness looks to be of high quality. Hitch looks great on our 2013 Ford Edge.
I sold my truck so any trailer pulling will now be done by the Edge. I only pull a light trailer with a garden tractor etc.

2007 Ford Edge

Fit PERFECT, bolts need a trimI just finished installing the unit on our 2007 Edge.
All the parts were there, but on my ford access to the rear frame openings were plugged, so i fished the bolts n from the outer side frames rails. The bolts included needed a tweak to shave one side of the head flange down so it would fit through the access hole.
Total time as 1 hr and 20 minutes. It was 20F outside so worked slow
I could have enlarged the frame hole, but it only took a minute to grind off a 1/8" off one side of the bolt.

by:

Product was just as expected. The super fast service from these guys is what will bring me back to them for my automotive needs again.Good job guys keep up the good work!!!!!!

Honda Pilot

My husband precut the heat shields before hand. When the hitch was delivered, he started installing it without hesitation. He did'nt even lower the exhaust.Just manuovered it into position, held the hitch up with precut pieces of wood on each side of hitch. Used the pilot wire and installed the bolts and nuts as per the installation video and was done in little over an hour.It was easy and fit perfect. I would reccomend these hitches to all my friends and to other people without hesitation

I recently placed an order for a Swagman Bike Carrier (XC S64650). Your service is excellent and the product is exactly as stated. Note that your reviews of this product and comparable products was most helpful in accquiring the better Carrier. Now that I have installed it the issues by comparison are evident. I would highly recommend this product.Thank you for the prompt and curtious service. Brady D. Kadunce

Thank you etrailer! Shipped fast and the installation went great thanks to your videos. They were the reason I chose to purchase from you. Once I started it was like I had done it before no surprises. I would definitely buy from you again.

Was very easy to install! Was pleased with my whole experience from ordering to delivery! The video demo was exactly the way you have to install the hitch! This was my 1st time installing a hitch and was very simple and straight forward. Very happy!

Lincoln MKX

I recently purchased this Hitch for our Lincoln MKX and installed it in my shop. The product is well built, the hardware was correct, instructions were ample, but the collar at the hitch had to be ground out due to the dimension of the collar being too small to accept a standard 2" reciever bar. The manufacturer should make corrective actions accordingly. Your customer service was excellent though.
Thank you, Brady K.

The box got to the house on a Friday and I was putting it together on Saturday morning. The video was very valuable and the written instructions were clear as well. It only took me 15 minutes longer than the suggested time mostly because I was taking my time. Great product and advise.

by:

The product is excellent and the installation videos on their website took all of the guesswork out of it for this "do it yourself-er". Ordering from etrailer.com could not have been easier. They shipped it out the very same day of my online order. I am very satisfied with every aspect of my purchase.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation On A 2011 Ford Edge SEL
We have two Class III hitch receivers available for your 2011 Ford Edge SEL, Curt part # C13067 and Draw-Tite part # 75992. In order to tow a trailer with 2 jet skis, you will need the weight capacity a Class III hitch offers. I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver as this hitch will not be as visible from above in comparison to the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver. The Draw-Tite Class III hitch is rated for 4000 lbs. of gross trailer weight (GTW) and 400 lbs. of tongue...

I have attached a review video of the bike rack for you to check out. The Draw-Tite hitch, # 75992, is a Class III hitch that is made specific for the 2007 Ford Edge. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Ford Edge
You will need a new for your 2013 Ford Edge as there isn't a way to install a hitch from an older Escape on it. The vehicles are quite a bit different. One of the best heavy duty racks available is the Saris Freedom EX, part # SA4412B. This rack can carry bikes up to 60 pounds, giving you ample weight for your Electra Townie. This is a frame mount rack that is fully adjustable to the shape of the Townie, and also allows for you to position the bikes so they don't impact each other while driving with their handlebars. • Do All Trailer Hitches For 2014 Ford Edge SEL Require Drilling
I can understand not wanting to drill holes to mount a hitch, though the Draw-Tite # 75728 is only a fit the Sport model and will be unable to fit your 2014 Ford Edge SEL. I did double check with the manufacturer for you just to be certain. So to add a hitch to your '14 Edge SEL you will need to drill 17/32" holes in your frame rails for installation. • What Is the Difference Between the Curt Hitch and the Draw-Tite Hitch on a 2010 Ford Edge
Both the Curt Hitch # C13067 and the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75992 are custom fit hitches that are designed to be mounted on to your 2010 Ford Edge. Both hitches are Class III rated and have the 2 inch opening at the hitch. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitches have a gross trailer weight rating of 4,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitch have limited life lifetime warranties. Of these two, I recommend the Draw-Tite hitch over the Curt for two reasons....

  • Class III Hitch For 2008 Ford Edge To Tow A Trailer With Weight Distribution
I recommend to switch the existing hitch to the Draw-Tite instead of using an adapter because adapters cannot be used with weight distribution and they cut the tongue weight rating of the hitch in half. The only Class III hitch available for the 2008 Ford Edge that is designed for the use of a weight distribution system is Draw-Tite hitch part # 75992. You will need to hardwire in a connector, but it'll be super-easy. You'll just need to run one wire from the rear of the vehicle up to the positive battery terminal via a 40A circuit breaker. We have a kit set up just for this situation, the part number is # ETBC7L. The kit includes an adapter to convert the existing 4-pin to a 7-way. The adapter will have 4 additional wires. • Does the Power Wire Need Run On Trailer Wiring Harness for 2012 Lincoln MKX
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118519 is a great option for a 2012 Lincoln MKX. It is a powered harness as are all the options for this vehicle therefore you'd need to run a power wire to the battery in order for the trailer lights to work. This takes the strain off the factory lighting circuits. Dry weight is the weight of your vehicle when completely empty with no passengers or cargo loaded. The gross trailer weight is total weight of the trailer plus the cargo loaded on it. The main two things you need to look at are your vehicle's max towing capacity and the trailer's gross weight. My research tells me that your 2010 Ford Edge has a max towing capacity of 2,000lbs, but you can verify in your owner's manual. This means you should not pull a trailer that exceeds 2,000lbs. If...

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75992 does state to use a 7/16 inch drill bit in the instructions. This is engineers helping with installation instructions for precision but you are correct most people will use a 1/2 inch bit or use a Dremel tool to slightly enlarge it.
