Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Subaru Crosstrek

Today on our 2019 Subaru Crosstrack, we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install draw-tight class three max range inaudible 00:00:07 hitch receiver, part number 76209. This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed, you can see the cross-tube is visible, however, it's nice and tucked up to the bottom of our fascia and it has a round tube design so it fits real nicely with the contour of the vehicle. It's going to be a class three hitch, it's going to be two inch by two inch, it's gonna have a reinforced collar, give you a little bit of extra stability on your receiver tube. This hole here is gonna be for your hitch vent, it's gonna be five eighths inch in diameter. Now the hitch vent equip does not come with this hitch, however you can find one here at etrailor.com. This hole here is gonna be for a j-pin stabilization device only.

Also, that does not come with the hitch but you can find one of those here at etrailor.com. What that's gonna be used for, it's gonna take the shake and play out of any of your hitch mount accessories, like your bike rakes or your cargo carriers. We're gonna have plate style safety chain inaudible 00:01:01, as you can see we have plenty of room for different size hooks, another thing that's really nice about this hitch is we're gonna have a pre-bolted bracket or plate here, that's gonna be for any of your wiring accessories that you may want to add later on. This hitch is gonna have a nice, black powder coat finish. It's really gonna help resist any rust or corrosion. As far as weight capacities go, you're gonna have a 675 pound max tongue weight, which is a downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube.

You're gonna have a 4500 pound max trail weight, which is the trailer plus load included. I always recommend checking the owner's manual of the Subaru to make sure the vehicle can withstand that amount of weight. You wanna go with the lowest number between the vehicle and the hitch. Now let's give you a few measurements to help you when deciding on any hitch mount accessories you may need, such as a bike rack, wall mount, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch vent hole to the outer most part of the bumper, it's about three inches. This number's important for any hitch mount accessories that may fold up against your vehicle.

From the ground to the top innermost part of the receiver tube, it's gonna be about 14 and a quarter inches. Now I'm gonna show you how to get this installed. First thing we're gonna do to start our installation, we're gonna take a strap, we're gonna hang it from our rear axle, we're gonna go underneath to the other side. We're gonna pull that tight up against our exhaust pipe here, because we're gonna be removing our exhaust for lowering it. We're gonna be removing four hangers, you're gonna have one on your passenger side, you're gonna have two on the driver's side of your muffler, and you're gonna have one in front of your axle. You take some silicon spray, we'll spray down each hanger.

We'll take a pry bar, we're gonna pry off one end of our hanger. It doesn't really matter because the top of the bar, you get one side off, like that. You're gonna do that with the remaining three. Once you get all your hangers loose, go ahead and lower your exhaust down a little bit. Just make sure it's supported by your strap. Now just take a flat head screw driver, we're gonna remove the three plugs on each frame rail. Next we're gonna have our pull wire, spring side. We're gonna have just a slight bend on the end of it, like that. We've got to take all of our hardware through this hole. So we're gonna take the spring in, we'll go through this very back hole, bring it out that hole. Spring in first, just like that, then we're gonna take our inaudible 00:03:32, you're gonna have a inaudible 00:03:35 block, you're actually gonna have four of these. You're gonna take one of the smaller ones here, we're gonna put it on a pull wire first, and then we're gonna thread on our bolt.Take your spacer blocks, go ahead and push it up in the hole. Don't let go of the wire because if you add the weight of the bolt on it, we're gonna pull it out like that. Next one, we're gonna be coming out of this hole. Same combination of hardware except we're gonna be doing it a little bit different. Put on your spacer block, thread on your bolt, we're gonna do a reverse bolt. This time, put our bolt in first, spacer block, then pull it out. You're gonna repeat that same thing on the other side of the vehicle. Next, we got a large spacer block like this, got a round hole in it. We're gonna take a piece of tape and stick in on that piece of tape. We're actually gonna be taping it onto our hitch, this forward inaudible 00:04:37. We wanna make sure that the long part is facing the front of the hitch and the back of the hitch, so we're gonna put it on like this, not like this. Stick that into place like that. You're gonna repeat the same thing on the other side. Now, with an extra set of hands, we'll go up over top of our exhaust here on our back side, we'll feed our pull wire through the course mounting holes, raise our hitch into position. We're gonna put on mechanical tooth washer, follow it up with a nut. Once you get it lined up, go ahead and remove your pull wire. We'll get one end on each side to hold the hitch into place while we install our remaining hardware. Next, we take a 17 millimeter socket and tighten all of our hardware. For this most rear one on the passenger side, it will require a swivel and a short socket because we're right about the hingle 00:05:40 of the hitch. Next, we're gonna torque all the hardware to the inaudible 00:05:44.We're gonna repeat that for all remaining hardware. Once you've got your hardware tightened torque down, you'll reinstall your exhaust. Once your exhaust is reinstalled, you can remove your strap, and you're ready to go. That'll do it for a look at an installation on a draw-tight class three max range inaudible 00:06:14 hitch receiver, part number 76209, on our 2019 Subaru Crosstrack.

Installed it on my 2019 Impreza and it looks great took me 1hour to install. If I have the proper tools probably take me 20 min. I did not have to shave the hole to make it bigger to install the mounts...great hitch!!!! 600299

I would not recommend this hitch for impreza. The hitch is to low and if you hit a small bump it bottoms out and hits the bump. Another thing if you use a bike rack the angle of the hits makes it even lower when you get in parking lots that is angled you will bottom out. For impreza owners I would not recommend it. Its been a year for me and I removed my bike rack because I cant use it because it is to low. I wish the sales rep when I talked to him would have recommend another 2” rack than this one.

Easy to install. First time installing. Took about an hour to 2 for me. No drilling/hole enlarging required like the other trailer hitch. Perfect fit for my crosstrek 2018. Highly recommended. Notes: 2 people recommended to lift and hold the hitch in place. Was able to install without removing muffler. Only removed the bushings. For people having trouble removing the MUFFLER HANGER BUSHINGS, mix dish soap and water in a spray bottle, spray bushing and let it soak for a minute. Didn't had the right tools, so I used Gooseneck Wrecking Bar to pry off the bushing. Came right off. 721289

I received the trailer hitch sooner than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. All the hardware was present and the instructions were mostly clear. I had a little "stop and think" moment when it came to the reverse threading part of installing the forward most bolts into the frame, but it finally came to me :-o Once the bolts were in place, the installation was straight forward. I managed to get it installed with the car on the ground. I recommend using a lift or jack with jack stands, but it can be done on the ground. I installed it on a 2018 Subaru Imprezza hatchback. I got the class III hitch, although it's a little overkill since it'll used mostly for a bike rack, but you never know what else you might need it for. I got a 4-bike rack to use with it, and although the bikes and rack would never come close to the 650lb tongue weight limit, I'd rather have too much capacity than not enough. Overall, I'm very happy with the hitch...easy to install, looks good and feels very sturdy. 460375

2019 Subaru Crosstrek

Hi guys!! I live in Windsor Conn, and yesterday afternoon I decided to install the hitch! There was freezing rain storm in the forecast for the evening, (that means I don’t have a garage) but that didn’t stop my wife and i to install it! It was cold and wet but we wanted ready for the weekend and spring break week, it took us 1 1/2 hour because one of the bolts went back in when we were pushing in place, we struggle a bit to get it out and finish the job! It looks great and strong! Cant wait to use it!! 617736

Hitch arrived pretty darn quick and I loved the email updates and follow-up! There was some marring to the stickers on the hitch so I opted to remove them (except for the safe load sticker of course!) I installed the hitch on a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. I installed this hitch by myself, with no jack, on a dirt road, with limited lighting in about 1.5 hours- it wasn't' easy but as someone who turns wrenches frequently, its do-able. I didn't have to lower/adjust the muffler in any way but if I had the Crosstrek on a lift I can see how this would make the install easier (but would have taken a bit longer.) A 2nd set of hands would have made the job easier, but that wasn't an option. What proved incredibly valuable was having a prop/bucket to place the opposite end of the hitch on while fastening one end. The weight of the hitch isn't as much heavy as it is awkward with only one person. Using temporary line to suspend the hitch in places would have made the fastening go a little quicker. The install videos are well made and thought out! 708075

This hitch sits *very* low to the ground when installed on an Impreza. I saw the photos and the video, but didn't believe it would be as low as it is. The clearance is about the same as the midpoint of the car, but having the lower clearance outboard from the wheels significantly reduces the acceptable approach angle. I've got a rolled-curb driveway, and this hitch prevents me from backing in -- the whole crossbar and receiver point were skimming the driveway when my wheels touched the curb; the suspension bounce on exiting my driveway turned this into a scrape. I love the Draw-Tite hitch I've got on my outback, but this one on the Impreza feels like such a liability that I'm having my mechanic take it off, even though I can't return it now. I bought this over the EcoHitch because I didn't want to mess with disassembling the bumper structure on a new car and I don't mind seeing the crossbar, but the reduced functionality of the bar placement makes it very much not work for me. 705693

I ordered a trailer hitch for my Subaru Crosstrek so I could attach a Kuat bike rack. The trailer hitch I ordered from etrailer arrived quickly with no issues. My generous dad was able to install it himself (wires and all) without complications. One year and many mountain bike miles later I could not be more pleased. I’m most impressed with etrailer’s attention to following up with their customers to ensure a positive experience. Thank you!! 679845

Product shipped very quickly. Installation was very easy after watching the video for my '19 Subaru Crosstrek. I did need an extra set of hands to help hold things in place as I started the bolts, but all in all, much easier to install than i ever expected. Hitch seems very high quality. Installation took approximately 30 minutes, start to finish, after the car was up on the lift. 665067

The hitch was installed without...wait for it...a hitch! A second set of hands is a must unless you're quite creative with jacks and the like. For my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek I decided to remove the muffler completely rather than trying to work around it (only had the car on a set of ramps), a choice I stand by. Looks great and indeed is tucked up under the bumper nicely. etrailer's videos were incredibly useful. 572899

We purchased this trailer hitch for our 2019 Subaru Crosstrex. The hitch fit perfectly. The instructions for installation were available on line and are very clear with several photos. The instructions state that a professional can install the hitch in one hour. We had the installation done at a U-Haul store and they did it in one hour. I am very pleased with the hitch. 634950

The hitch itself is of very nice construction and goes on relatively easy with an extra set of hands it does look very ugly and looks very low to the ground which I should have expected with a car but it will serve its purpose. 453389

The product, the purchasing process, and delivery were 5 stars. My issue is with the installation instructions, both on your site and in the written directions. With this Draw-Tite Max-Frame hitch, it is casually mentioned that you need to remove the muffler in order to install the hitch. In order to do this however, you really need to have a very specialized exhaust hanger removal tool. Without it, it's nearly impossible to remove the muffler from the exhaust hangers. Fortunately, the tool can be purchased online for about $20. Like most projects, it's all about having the right tools. 504822

If some spray lubricant or soapy water is sprayed on the muffler hanger, the hanger can be pretty easily pried off the rubber isolator. You can see the process in the video Ive linked for you.

Great hitch, about two hours start to finish. The hitch is very strong but the car is not. DO NOT TRY TO PULL ANYTHING!!! Great as a bicycle or cargo rack receiver but again this is not the vehicle to use for towing anything as the unibody frame the hitch bolts up to is very thin and I fear it will just break free if you stress it to much. Again a great hitch if you are not going to pull a trailer. Only used a handful of wrenches 14mm X 2 and 11/16" for the main bolts. I removed the muffler altogether rather than do it the way shown in the video of lowering it on a ratchet strap. Only two bolts and three rubber hangers. I did not use ant type of lube on the rubber muffler hangers as oil and rubber are not a good mix. With just a little effort the muffler came loose. The other thing that makes this hitch stand out from the other options is that you do not have to drill or enlarge any of the original holes in the cars frame. VERY GOOD FOR A BICYCLE OR CARGO RACK BUT DO NOT TRY TO PULL ANYTHING BUT A VERY LIGHT TRAILER!!!! THE CAR IS NOT MADE FOR IT. 666803

According to Subaru, the Crosstrek has a 1500 lb towing capacity. Although the hitch has a higher capacity, youll be limited to the capacity of the lowest rated component which is the vehicle in this case.

After shopping around went with the Draw-Tite hitch based on reviews and great price from etrailer.com. Hitch arrived earlier than estimated and installation was simple with the provided instructions. The installation videos were key in making the install go smoothly with a couple tips that came in handy. Couldn't be happier with the finished product which is providing more than enough support/security for a 2" Yakima Holdup bike rack 473313

Put this hitch on my new 2019 Crosstrek, I will confirm that it fits the 2019 model year. Liked that I did not have to expand holes in frame. Dropping muffler wasn't hard, was going to remove muffler like shown in video, but bolts where super tight and wouldn't budge. Definitely need 2 people to install or need something to lift hitch into place. Hitch is too heavy to do it by yourself. My 24 year old son bench pressed it into position while I put nuts on bolts. I kept wires on each bolt to make lining up them up with hitch holes easier, then removed them slowly as I installed each bolt. I did have to go out and buy a deep socket for one of the back nuts. For the other back nut next to the exhaust pipe I was able to use 1/2" drive socket along with my Harbor Freight 1/2" drive torque wrench, tightening this nut is the challenge as there isn't that much room. I used a 3/8" drive socket and torque wrench for the front nuts. I got this hitch for the new Yakima Singlespeed bike rack that just got. This is the third hitch that I have bought from etrailer.com, great pricing and service. 562415

I like the 2 inch hitch. It's well built. I installed it the same day once I received it. I have a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. Used jack stands to help with the installation as I was doing it by myself because I was impatient. I did remove the muffler as I tried to install it with the muffler. I quickly realize there wasn't enough space to try to install the hitch while the car was on the ground. Plus I was doing the work at night; really took my time. I do want to mention that if you do remove the muffler, there is a metal gasket that sits between the main exhaust pipe and the muffler. Make sure that's installed. I found the ring on the ground only to realize it was the gasket. 469173

Very pleased with this hitch. Construction and quality are terrific. I will be using it mostly with a Yakima “Dr. Tray” bicycle carrier and occasionally with a small utility trailer. Installation of the hitch was relatively easy and took about 1Hr and 30 min. ETrailer’s video was a great help. Removing the muffler as recommended really helped give ease of access. The one part that proved to be a bit difficult was the rear most mounting bolt and nut on the passenger side of the Crosstrek (the mounting bolt without the spacer block). The length of that bolt required me to use a deep socket and that made it very difficult to fit the torque wrench in place. The other three bolts were quite easy to get at. The wiring harness installation was super easy and took only about 10 min. 529442

This hitch was even easier to install than even the instructional video made it out to be. It is possible to do the install without jacking up the Crosstrek or removing the muffler. It will take an extra set of hands and a keen eye for spatial relationships though. I also like that this particular hitch doesn’t require any drilling or cutting to accommodate the hardware. The hitch, wiring harness, and the bracket for the plug all went together beautifully. I’m super happy with it and super happy that I was able to install it in my own driveway. 514870

Because the Class III has a much larger selection of hitch mounted accessories available, I'll recommend going that route especially because the cost difference between a Class II and III usually isn't very much. Essentially, we have three different hitch styles available for your Crosstrek. Fully exposed, partially exposed and fully concealed. If you want a good hitch, and don't particularly care whether the hitch...

  • Recommendation to Convert 2 inch Hitch to 1-1/4 inch with Draw Tite Hitch # 76209
When adapting a 2 inch hitch like the part # 76209 to a 1-1/4 inch hitch there are adapters like the sleeve adapter # HT02 which will work great for nearly all applications. If it's a bike rack there might be a brand specific adapter for that rack that would give you a better fit.

  • Difference Between Curt and Dra-Tite Hitches for 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
Yes, the biggest difference between the Curt trailer hitch # C13382 and the Draw-Tite Max-Frame hitch # 76209 is that cross-tube on the Curt hitch is hidden behind the bumper, whereas on the Draw-Tite it's fully visible as shown in the comparison photos on a 2019 Crosstrek I've attached. For this reason, I recommend the # C13382. The installation on both hitches is pretty straight forward, requiring only to lower the muffler, insert the hardware in the frame and raise the hitch in place...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
The 2018 Cresstrek models required a brand new hitch fit so a 2016 hitch would not carry over to it. The Draw Tite part # 76209 would be a great option confirmed as a fit. It has a 2 inch opening and is a Class III. For trailer wiring you'd need the part # 118467 which is also a confirmed fit. I attached an install video for this and the hitch as well. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with...

  • Comparing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch and EcoHitch for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
There are two main differences between the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76209 and EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch # 306-X7365 that fits your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The biggest difference, as you can see by the accompanying photo of both of these hitches installed on an '18 Crosstrek, is that the Draw-Tite has a visible crossmember (the hitch tube) while the EcoHitch is totally hidden except for the actual receiver. This is important to many people because they want their car to look as clean...

  • Best Trailer Hitch Capacity for 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76209 is rated as the strongest capacity for your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. This hitch is rated for tongue weights up to 675 lbs and towing capacity of 4,500 lbs. This will be rated above your vehicle based on the manufacturer specs so you will want to stay within their limits for your vehicle, but you definitely will not be limited by this hitch.

  • Installation of Curt Trailer Hitch C13382 on 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
The Draw Tite # 76209 and Curt # C13382 are 2-inch Class III hitches both confirmed to fit your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. You are correct that the Draw-Tite includes four 7/16-inch carriage bolts while the Curt hitch includes 1/2-inch diameter bolts. I cannot recommend using anything other than the included hardware to mount either hitch. Doing so will void the hitch warranty. It may not be necessary to enlarge the access holes on your Crosstrek. If this step is needed to gain access to...

  • Distance from Ground to Hitch Opening of Draw Tite Hitch for 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon
When we installed the Draw Tite Hitch part # 76209 on a 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon just like yours we found the height from the top of the trailer hitch opening to the ground measured 10 inches. So what you'll need to do is measure from the bottom of your trailer coupler lip down the ground when it's sitting level and whatever the difference is what rise/drop you need. I also attached a help article that details how to determine the needed rise/drop as well for you to check out.

  • Installation Instructions for Trailer Hitch on 2019 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
Installing the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76209 that fits your 2019 Subaru Impreza hatchback is a straightforward process that won't require any special moves, as you can see by the cut out of the linked installation instructions I added. To put this hitch on your '19 Impreza you are going to need to lower your muffler by removing its rubber hangers, but after you accomplish that it will be smooth sailing. There are a couple of rubber plugs on the bottom of the frame (these will be pretty...

  • What is the Shipping Weight of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Reciever
The shipping weight on the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76209 is 37 lbs. If you are planning on towing or carrying a bike rack, I would be happy to recommend a bike rack, trailer wiring, ball mount, and tow ball if you can let me know how you intend to use your hitch. Included is an installation video for this hitch on a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza to Tow Motorcycle Trailer
We have hitches available for your 2018 Subaru Impreza that would be able to handle the weight of a 500-600 lb motorcycle carrier like the Draw Tite part # 76209 as it has a 675 lb tongue weight capacity, but from the research I did on your vehicle it looks like it's limited to only 350 lbs of tongue weight so this wouldn't be ideal with a motorcycle carrier. Your best option would be a small trailer for carrying the motorcycle. For that you'd need wiring part # 118629 for if you have...

  • Will a Trailer Hitch from a 2008 Subaru Outback Fit a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
The trailer hitches for the 2008 Subaru Outback will not fit the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The vehicles were built on different platforms so they require different hitch designs. For the 2018 Crosstrek the most popular hitch is # C13382. For the 2008 Outback the most popular hitch is # 75560. I have included some links to videos showing example installations of each hitch.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza
If you have the 5-door wagon 2018 Subaru Impreza you would want the part # 76209. If you have the Sedan instead you would want the part # 24960. For trailer wiring you would want the part # 118629 for the Sedan or part # 118744 for the wagon.

  • Does Trailer Hitch for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Require Frame Modification or Drilling
To install the Draw Tite hitch part # 76209 that you referenced on your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek does not require any frame modification or drilling to install on your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. This is especially nice when the vehicle is leased and modifications aren't allowed at all.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon is the Draw Tite part # 76209 because it has a 2 inch opening which most bike racks and accessories are made for, and because it has plenty of tongue weight capacity for your bike racks at 675 lbs. If you are in need of a bike rack I really like the Saris Freedom Superclamp part # SA4025F. This is a platform bike rack that only touches the bike at the tires and only weighs 30 lbs. The biggest drawback to platform bike...

  • Is a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Available for 2018 Subaru Impreza Sedan?
The only hitches available for a 2018 Subaru Impreza sedan have 1-1/4" receivers; there is no option for a 2" hitch on the sedan model of '18 Impreza. The Draw-Tite # 24960 and Curt # C11466 that fit the sedan are each Class I hitches that have a 200 lb tongue weight capacity so if you are using an accessory like a bike rack with either hitch you need to be sure it is Class I rated.

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2019 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
I recommend a 2 inch trailer hitch for your 2019 Subaru Impreza, the Class III Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76209 because a 2 inch receiver is going to give you many more options for a higher quality bike rack (and other accessories if you decide to use them). In regards to the price difference with the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch # 306-X7350, that is really because the EcoHitch is constructed out of an alloy of recycled metals (hence the "Eco" part of the name). Both the Draw-Tite and EcoHitch...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2019 Subaru Impreza
Starting with the trailer hitch for your 2019 Subaru Impreza Wagon I highly recommend the Draw-Tite Class III # 76209 because of its robust weight capacities indicating a stronger unit than the alternatives and its 2" receiver, which opens the door to more accessories (bike racks, cargo carriers, etc) if you ever choose to use the hitch in this way down the line. The hitch itself will line up to existing holes in the Impreza's frame rails for a simple bolt-on (no-drill) installation and...

  • Hitch Recommendation and Wiring For 2020 Subaru Impreza to Tow Small Kayak Trailer
I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76209 to tow the small kayak trailer with the 2020 Subaru Impreza. This will give you a 2" receiver on the back of the Subaru and more than enough weight capacity to tow your lightweight trailer. I have attached an installation video for your reference. You will also need a 4-way to illuminate the trailer lights on your trailer. For that, I recommend Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector...

I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well. For trailer wiring I then recommend the Tekonsha kit part # 118744 as it installs easily and has a very reliable converter box so it will last a long time.
