Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario. Technical Support

2017 Toyota RAV4

Just bought the hitch not long ago so haven't fully tested it yet other then put a bike rack on it. This will be the main use.The hitch looks really good on the car. It also sits up really high, so really helpful when you back up from a steep driveway. Instillation look some time for me. The instillation video is rally helpful. Just make sure that you have a "Nylon or metal tube brush" for cleaning the dust in nuts that are already pre-drilled in the car. In my case I needed a metal tube brush because of the rust. You can purchase these for around $5 - $6 at a local hardware store. Great hitch though, that looks really good.

The hitch has been great after the first year of use!
Endri J - 07/24/2021

Worst packing I've ever experienced. Literally just tossed the hitch in an over sized box with zero packing material. So it bounced around for 5 days while making it to my house. Paint is chipped off everywhere. Multiple areas where it looks like it was dragged across concrete.

Customer service offered a whooping $xx refund to buy a can of spray paint. So now I have to spend a day driving around to get materials, sand this thing down, and properly coat it. Had I not been in a time crunch, I'd open a return.

The hitch itself will likely work, (although the coating and welds look amateur), but I'd order it from somewhere else. $x in bubble wrap would have prevented a majority of these issues. Last time I order from etrailer.

I see that your hitch has received some scratches on it due to shipping. This does tend to happen and when it does, we recommend using a Rust-oleum type paint to cover up any scratches and prevent corrosion in the future during use. I have a link below for your reference.

Excellent hitch for wife's 2015 Rav 4. We like that the bar is hidden beneath the bumper cover which also gives extra ground clearance. Has a nice factory look when installed. A little extra work to clearance trim the bumper cover & factory splash guards after installation but well worth the extra effort. Etrailer is excellent, best prices, had hitch in less than 48hrs. & their installation videos & customer service made this a very straight forward installation. I will be doing business with Etrailer again!!!

Hitch still looks as new after a Chicago winter & is working flawlessly!

Chevrolet Spark

Great hitch. Everything needed was included and installation was easy as the instructions were clearly written. On this particular order, I ordered three hitches and three wiring harnesses for my Spark, Rav and CX-5. All three were excellent fit and quality.
etrailer is the BEST and has never let me down with shoddy or less than excellent products. Everything I have ordered from them is top quality and fits without adjustment or compromise!

2010 Toyota RAV4

I want to confirm that this hitch fits on my 2007 RAV4. I took a chance on ordering this hitch because it had not been confirmed to fit this year and I preferred the hidden bar version. As it turns out I don't think it is probably any tougher to install on this model year than any of the newer confirmed years. That being said, I did remove the bumper cover as I wanted analyze every step to make sure it was going to work. It did take most of a day to install but half of that time was spent cleaning up the threads of the previously unused holes required for the hitch attachment. A word of advice here is that if you don't have access to a tap to clean up the threads, take your time before actually installing the hitch to make sure that the bolts will thread all of the way. It took a lot WD-40 and multiple (maybe 10 to 15) attempts to get further and further. You only want to go so far and then back off (or out) and then spray and go again. This process would have been required for my situation no matter which hitch I was installing. After that, the installation went fairly smooth. To me it was worth the effort as it looks as good as a factory installation. Oh yeah, I did this review because I have the V6 which pulls my 18ft boat effortlessly and thought there would be others wanting to use this hitch.

After a year all is good. Use it to pull my 18 ft boat approx. 2500 lbs.
Philip C - 07/19/2018

Looks to work as it should paint quality was sub par and it did not come with good installation instructions

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. I would recommend touching up the hitch with a rust resistant paint which you would then have on hand for hitch maintenance. I would also like to recommend watching the video installation video link below on a 2015 Toyota Rav 4. It will be the same install as on your 2014 Toyota Rav 4.

This hitch is so much better than many I’ve installed on my vehicles mostly because it is hidden behind my bumper cover. The 2 inch receiver is only visible. It sticks out a little farther than I’d like but that’s okay. It was easy to install with only a little bit of trimming on the bumper cover. Not bad. I did not have to remove the bumper cover like I’ve done on some cars, just bend it out of the way a bit.

2017 Ford Edge

Worth the extra work!
This hitch looks
so much more clean then any other hitch. I bought a curt brand hitch for my rav at first and it showed so bad. This one all the hardware except the tongue is hidden in the bumper! The biggest pain was cutting the panels. Which is optional except for the base of the bumper. I used some door edge moulding I had left over the clean up the spots i had to cut on the bumper and it looks so much better that way. Also if you have a limited model you have to unscrew the keyless entry antenna and the instructions say you need a 12mm ITS WRONG you need an 11mm it took me forever to get that off struggling to find the right size and it's in a tight spot to get it off. It's worth the hard work for the clean look! I put the curt brand plug and curt wire mount on it and they both work great!

Still works absolutely fantastic! I towed my tear trailer with it this summer and it had no issues with it! I plan on buying the equipment to install trailer brakes into my tear that are made by etrailer here shortly as I am thoroughly impressed with the quality!

2018 Toyota RAV4

This Draw Tite for the Rav4 (mine is 2018 without auto/foot-operated hatch) is a really nice product. However, the instructions are all wrong. You basically have to remove the entire bumper and the other body parts described in the instructions. You also have to relocate a sensor not described in the instructions. Once you get past that, it's a nice looking installation; very low profile and unobtrusive.

The installation of the hitch does require careful removal of appearance panels and some fascia trimming. In our video on a 2017 Toyota Rav 4 you can see at mark 2:22 how we removed the panels and at mark 5:45 where we are able to install the hitch by pulling back on the bumper fascia versus completely removing it.

It took an evening of work with more modifications than I'm used to with receiver installations, but it all went in well. The receiver sleeve itself seems to be a little twisted. It works fine, but when looking at the vehicle from the back, my bike rack is definitely tilted, which is not the case with the rack when it's on my other vehicle.

The hitch looks great and works great. It was "fairly" easy to install, although the instructions weren't the clearest (graphics are poor). The instructions indicated to remove more material from the drivers side "protection panel" than was really required - leaving a large opening for sand, water and salt to enter. If I had waited until after installing the hitch to make any changes, I could have made the adjustment, but I stupidly believed the instructions.

2017 Toyota RAV4

Excellent fit on our 2017 Toyota Rav4 AWD, all bolts lined up to the frame, but it required a lot of time trimming the plastic under body panels.
I made a tool to reinstall the trim panel clips, this helped to avoid removing the bumper.
Package arrived with the top torn open, UPS driver handed the box to me and I feared the worst, but all of the hardware was there.
Thanks to (Gorge J.) and the crew at "" for protecting the contents!
The 76134 hidden hitch looks nice on our new Rav4, we are ready to hit the road!

2016 Toyota RAV4

I wanted a Class III trailer hitch for our bike rack for our 2016 RAV4 and it was extremely easy to search for the available hitches and see the reviews. What I really like about etrailer are the videos that review the different types of hitches and options for particular makes/models of cars and there are pictures to view. I went with the Draw-Tite because we have the same brand on our other car and the one I bought tucks under the rear bumper so it has a very clean look and you only see the hitch. I had our mechanic install it so I can't comment on that, but the mechanic said it was pretty easy to install and he did not have to lower or remove the rear bumper (there are a lot of sensors on cars attached to bumpers these days...) so he charged me an hour of labor. The etrailer price and cost of installation was much cheaper than buying from a dealer. Very happy with etrailer and the purchasing process.

2018 Toyota RAV4

This was my second hitch install and it went well. If you are at all handy, you can do this yourself and save money.

2013 Toyota RAV4

Hitch fits our 2013 RAV4 nicely. Only the box receiver shows below the bumper. Easy install. Have only used it for a bike rack so far.
Outstanding service from though. UPS lost the first hitch and I was up against a time crunch before leaving on a trip. Emily at etrailer rushed another hitch to me that arrived in time for me to install before our trip.

Toyota RAV4

I love my Draw Tite Max Frame Trailer Hitch. I didn't even know that you could add a hitch to a vehicle until someone at work told me you could. I like to bike and I was tired of laying down my seats down in my Rav4 and lifting my bike in. He told me about adding a hitch to your car. I went online and in less than 1/2 hour I had ordered a hitch and a 2 bike rack. My son installed it without any trouble and I was ready to go. I was very happy. It was just what I needed and I thought the price was great.

Still love my hitch. It does what it is suppose to do and I have no problems with it. I am so glad that I added it to my Rav4.

2018 Toyota RAV4

I just finished installing 76134 Hitch on a 2018 Toyota RAV4 LE Hybrid. I really appreciated the video (red 2017 Toyota RAV4 LE) and other comments. That guy in the video is impressive. I had three differences from the video 1st) The tie down bracket required my torque wrench to loosen. It was on there and my drill would not cut it. 2nd) The keyless entry antenna was in the way. It is right under the bumper on the passenger side middle. The instructions talk about it but the video doesn't. Maybe some cars don't have it. Either way I removed it with a 10mm wrench. I also removed the bracket that attaches to it and when I was done reattached it with tie downs provided and according to the instructions. I did not have to remove the bumper fascia See photos. 3rd) The largest trim panel on the driver side, I had to trim a touch more than in the video to get it to fit. Overall I'm thrilled with this product and the look.

This concealed hitch is a little more trouble to install, but worth the effort. Everything fit perfectly and holes aligned. A Video would have helped, as i had trouble understanding what was what in the written instructions, but maybe my pictures will help somebody else.
You remove 2 screws and a bolt from each side and two bolts you can see if you zoom in, on each side in the back( they are hidden by the liftgate until you open it. Then you can easily remove the back panel (we used to call it a bumper??) by gently lifting and pulling. I didn't disconnect the wiring harness, just supported side. I still need to cut out some in the plastic panel underneath, on the passenger side, to fit around the round bar, which is up high due to the "hidden" look. Hope the pics help.

2010 Toyota RAV4

It fit fine. It was a little awkward getting it all to line up but once I got it into place it all fit fine. To fit this on the 2010 RAV4 I had to cut a square out of the bumper cover. (See picture) I like that it’s tucked up a little higher than the standard hitch. I haven’t had it scrape anywhere unlike previous car/hitch combinations.

2018 Toyota RAV4

Installed on a 2018 Toyota Rav4.

were a little tough to understand but if you have some basic mechanical knowledge you can figure it out. There are a couple of steps on the instructions that were not necessary to complete this install. They wanted you to remove a piece of fascia that was not required. I only had to trim one piece of fascia and that was pretty simple, I just used a dremel. I installed this on my own and it was a little difficult trying to lift the hitch in place and start the bolts but I was able to pull it off. It took me about an hour to install this and a some basic tools. I bought this receiver hitch so I can utilize my motorcycle receiver hitch hauler. I chose this hitch due to its hideaway crossbar. I didn't want to look at the back of my vehicle and see this receiver hitch bar hanging down and this product does a good job of hiding that.

2016 Toyota RAV4

This was installed on my 2016 Rav4. The installation was straightforward and pretty easy. The only issue I had was with installation of the passenger-side bolts. My car is relatively new but I'm in the Northeast and there is NO WAY those bolts were going into any frame bolt holes that didn't have anything in them before. If you're in the same situation, do yourself a favor and run a 12mm tap through the holes before you start the install. I was putting in the hitch by myself so I'm under the car holding up the hitch frame with my leg like a maniac trying to quickly start the bolts so I could let it go, this is not the way to do this. Once I chased the threads out everything installed super easy. If you have a rotary tool trimming the fascia and the undercarriage plastic pieces is a breeze. Once installed this hitch looks great, it's barely there, no visible crossbar looking ugly or getting caught on things.

Excellent customer service at!!! I ordered the hitch, then decided to add a Yakima bike rack to my already completed order. Brenden at eTrailer quickly edited my order, and then shipped it that evening! Very quick turnaround and delivery of my order.

The Draw-Tite Custom Class III hitch fits my 2017 Toyota Rav4 perfectly! The description, installation video, and photos on eTrailer are very accurate to the look and fit of this model.

The Yakima rack is solid, and was easy to assemble in about 15 minutes with all the required tools included in the box. I love that the rack tilts down to allow access to the rear hatch, and has built in security locks for both bikes, and the hitch itself.

2015 Toyota RAV4

The 76134 receiver is well made. All weld beads are continuous and consistent and the material is sized right for adequate strength and minimum weight. Mounting bolt hole pattern is right on. Paint is good and consistent with no dings or scratches. Installation was straight forward. It was necessary to procure a M12 X 1.25 tap to run through the mounting weld nuts in the frame in order to get the bolts to thread in; not a fault of the receiver but the effects of four years of over the road use of the 2015 RAV4. Also the small amount of extra money for this hidden crossbar version of a receiver was worth it when looking at the final installation.
The 118578 T-One harness kit installation was also straight forward and it works as it should. Installation was made a little less difficult with the use of the ALL648544 trim pad remover that was purchased with this order.

It has been fine, no issues. Ive only used it once to pull a utility trailer with a small motorcycle on it for about 200 miles so it hasnt had a lot of use. I am still very pleased with it.

Hitch looks pretty solid, trusting the holes will line up alright on a 2018 RAV4. Dinging it for the issue mentioned in other reviews though. It is missing paint in a few spots and will have to hit it up with some spray enamel.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. You have already done what I would recommend in touching up the hitch with a rust resistant paint.

Excellent draw tite hitch. Love the way its completely hidden. Installed on Toyota Rav4 2015 XLE AWD. Got a 5X8 Aluma trailer, only weighs 350 lbs so have lots of weight left to haul. Easy installation and excellent video. Also the wiring was fantastic. Etrailer is the only way to go.

Here's what I would try first. Try torquing the install bolts when the vehicle is sitting on the ground with the full weight of the vehicle on the suspension. If you are torquing the hardware with the vehicle jacked up in the air the hitch will hold the frame in a position where it can be partially flexed and cause the issue you are having. Or it's possible the hitch was bent and when you tighten the hardware it then causes the frame to flex. Does the hitch seem like it was bend possibly?...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
Yes, we do. I recommend the Draw-Tite, part # 76134. It's a fit for all of the 2018 RAV4's including the Hybrid model like you have. I like how the crosstube is hidden behind the RAV4's bumper and all you see is the receiver tube sticking out. Take a look at the picture I attached. I've also linked the install video for you, which isn't on a Hybrid model but the install is the same. The wiring harness # HM11141820 from Hopkins gives you a 4-way to power the trailer lights. It plugs...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Toyota RAV4
The hitch I recommend for your 2018 Toyota RAV4 is the Draw Tite part # 76134. The reason I recommend is because this is a 2 inch hitch that has a concealed crosstube which means you'd only see the hitch opening below the bumper of the vehicle. I attached an install video and picture for this hitch on a similar 2017 Toyota RAV4 for you to check out as well. For trailer wiring the best option is the T-One kit part # 118578 that has the most reliable and longest-lasting converter box we...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Toyota RAV4 That Doesnt Need Stabilizer Strap
Only the Class II Curt hitch part # C12108 for your 2018 Toyota RAV4 would require a stabilizer strap when carrying a bike rack. If you went with a Class III hitch like the Draw Tite part # 76134 you would not have to use a strap. What's also really great about this hitch is that it has a concealed cross tube so it isn't as visible as some of the other hitches.

  • Trimming Fascia on a 2013 Toyota RAV4 to Install a Trailer Hitch
Draw-Tite recommends using a utility knife or die grinder to trim the fascia. A rotary tool works as well. I included a picture showing the area to be trimmed. I have also included a link to the installation instructions which additional information. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball,...

  • 2017 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid Trailer Hitch Recommendation that is Hidden
Your best option is the Draw Tite hitch part # 76134 for your 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. This is a 2 inch trailer hitch confirmed to fit your vehicle that has a concealed crosstube so it will be the least visible option you can find. I attached a picture that shows just how hidden the hitch is. For trailer wiring you'd then want the part # 118578 which is a confirmed fit as well. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with...

There is no drilling or trimming required to install Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 76134 on your 2017 Toyota RAV4. There is an appearance panel that will be removed (though it can be trimmed if you want to keep it on). I have included a link to the installation instructions and a video showing an example installation for you. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. • Is There Trailer Hitch That Will Not Interfere With Hands-Free Liftgate on 2018 Toyota RAV4?
A trailer hitch may cause some interference with the hands-free liftgate on your wife's 2018 Toyota RAV4 because it is partially in front of the motion sensor but it will still work as normal. For example, the Draw-Tite # 76134 will allow full functionality of the liftgate, but your wife will just need to activate it with her foot on either side of the hitch receiver instead of the middle. Otherwise, everything will be the same in regards to the liftgate. I recommend going with the Draw-Tite...
