Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Super fast shipping and the mount was a perfect match to the bolt hole locations on our Rav4.

Took me about an hour to do as I had to deal with some of the northern MN rusty filled holes.

With this hidden mount there is some plastic that needs to be trimmed. Simple to do, I used a Dremel and it took about 15mins to do the 2 spots.

Very happy with the way this mount is tucked up out of site.

A year later and no issues since install. Super happy with the way the receiver hitch is tucked up and basically unseen when it is being used!

I want to confirm that this hitch fits on my 2007 RAV4. I took a chance on ordering this hitch because it had not been confirmed to fit this year and I preferred the hidden bar version. As it turns out I don't think it is probably any tougher to install on this model year than any of the newer confirmed years. That being said, I did remove the bumper cover as I wanted analyze every step to make sure it was going to work. It did take most of a day to install but half of that time was spent cleaning up the threads of the previously unused holes required for the hitch attachment. A word of advice here is that if you don't have access to a tap to clean up the threads, take your time before actually installing the hitch to make sure that the bolts will thread all of the way. It took a lot WD-40 and multiple (maybe 10 to 15) attempts to get further and further. You only want to go so far and then back off (or out) and then spray and go again. This process would have been required for my situation no matter which hitch I was installing. After that, the installation went fairly smooth. To me it was worth the effort as it looks as good as a factory installation. Oh yeah, I did this review because I have the V6 which pulls my 18ft boat effortlessly and thought there would be others wanting to use this hitch.

After a year all is good. Use it to pull my 18 ft boat approx. 2500 lbs.

Excellent hitch for wife's 2015 Rav 4. We like that the bar is hidden beneath the bumper cover which also gives extra ground clearance. Has a nice factory look when installed. A little extra work to clearance trim the bumper cover & factory splash guards after installation but well worth the extra effort. Etrailer is excellent, best prices, had hitch in less than 48hrs. & their installation videos & customer service made this a very straight forward installation. I will be doing business with Etrailer again!!!

Hitch still looks as new after a Chicago winter &amp is working flawlessly!

2017 Toyota RAV4

Just bought the hitch not long ago so haven't fully tested it yet other then put a bike rack on it. This will be the main use.The hitch looks really good on the car. It also sits up really high, so really helpful when you back up from a steep driveway. Instillation look some time for me. The instillation video is rally helpful. Just make sure that you have a "Nylon or metal tube brush" for cleaning the dust in nuts that are already pre-drilled in the car. In my case I needed a metal tube brush because of the rust. You can purchase these for around $5 - $6 at a local hardware store. Great hitch though, that looks really good.

This Draw Tite for the Rav4 (mine is 2018 without auto/foot-operated hatch) is a really nice product. However, the instructions are all wrong. You basically have to remove the entire bumper and the other body parts described in the instructions. You also have to relocate a sensor not described in the instructions. Once you get past that, it's a nice looking installation; very low profile and unobtrusive.

The installation of the hitch does require careful removal of appearance panels and some fascia trimming. In our video on a 2017 Toyota Rav 4 you can see at mark 2:22 how we removed the panels and at mark 5:45 where we are able to install the hitch by pulling back on the bumper fascia versus completely removing it.

Weve used the hitch multiple times this past year. It and the wiring harness are working fine. The low profile is worth the installation effort.

I just finished installing 76134 Hitch on a 2018 Toyota RAV4 LE Hybrid. I really appreciated the video (red 2017 Toyota RAV4 LE) and other comments. That guy in the video is impressive. I had three differences from the video 1st) The tie down bracket required my torque wrench to loosen. It was on there and my drill would not cut it. 2nd) The keyless entry antenna was in the way. It is right under the bumper on the passenger side middle. The instructions talk about it but the video doesn't. Maybe some cars don't have it. Either way I removed it with a 10mm wrench. I also removed the bracket that attaches to it and when I was done reattached it with tie downs provided and according to the instructions. I did not have to remove the bumper fascia See photos. 3rd) The largest trim panel on the driver side, I had to trim a touch more than in the video to get it to fit. Overall I'm thrilled with this product and the look.

2015 Toyota RAV4

The 76134 receiver is well made. All weld beads are continuous and consistent and the material is sized right for adequate strength and minimum weight. Mounting bolt hole pattern is right on. Paint is good and consistent with no dings or scratches. Installation was straight forward. It was necessary to procure a M12 X 1.25 tap to run through the mounting weld nuts in the frame in order to get the bolts to thread in; not a fault of the receiver but the effects of four years of over the road use of the 2015 RAV4. Also the small amount of extra money for this hidden crossbar version of a receiver was worth it when looking at the final installation.
The 118578 T-One harness kit installation was also straight forward and it works as it should. Installation was made a little less difficult with the use of the ALL648544 trim pad remover that was purchased with this order.

It has been fine, no issues. Ive only used it once to pull a utility trailer with a small motorcycle on it for about 200 miles so it hasnt had a lot of use. I am still very pleased with it.

Worth the extra work!
This hitch looks
so much more clean then any other hitch. I bought a curt brand hitch for my rav at first and it showed so bad. This one all the hardware except the tongue is hidden in the bumper! The biggest pain was cutting the panels. Which is optional except for the base of the bumper. I used some door edge moulding I had left over the clean up the spots i had to cut on the bumper and it looks so much better that way. Also if you have a limited model you have to unscrew the keyless entry antenna and the instructions say you need a 12mm ITS WRONG you need an 11mm it took me forever to get that off struggling to find the right size and it's in a tight spot to get it off. It's worth the hard work for the clean look! I put the curt brand plug and curt wire mount on it and they both work great!

Still works absolutely fantastic! I towed my tear trailer with it this summer and it had no issues with it! I plan on buying the equipment to install trailer brakes into my tear that are made by etrailer here shortly as I am thoroughly impressed with the quality!

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. I would recommend touching up the hitch with a rust resistant paint which you would then have on hand for hitch maintenance. I would also like to recommend watching the video installation video link below on a 2015 Toyota Rav 4. It will be the same install as on your 2014 Toyota Rav 4.

Very happy with purchase , love the idea it was hidden within the rear bumper. Great price and hook- up was well wrote and easy to follow. Wiring the hitch was also easy to follow.
Two thumbs up

Best product bought still looking good it’s anchor points gives full support . It is hidden up underneath the bumper so it is protected. Would buy again if needed.

2017 Toyota RAV4

Excellent fit on our 2017 Toyota Rav4 AWD, all bolts lined up to the frame, but it required a lot of time trimming the plastic under body panels.
I made a tool to reinstall the trim panel clips, this helped to avoid removing the bumper.
Package arrived with the top torn open, UPS driver handed the box to me and I feared the worst, but all of the hardware was there.
Thanks to (Gorge J.) and the crew at "etrailer.com" for protecting the contents!
The 76134 hidden hitch looks nice on our new Rav4, we are ready to hit the road!

2016 Toyota RAV4

I wanted a Class III trailer hitch for our bike rack for our 2016 RAV4 and it was extremely easy to search for the available hitches and see the reviews. What I really like about etrailer are the videos that review the different types of hitches and options for particular makes/models of cars and there are pictures to view. I went with the Draw-Tite because we have the same brand on our other car and the one I bought tucks under the rear bumper so it has a very clean look and you only see the hitch. I had our mechanic install it so I can't comment on that, but the mechanic said it was pretty easy to install and he did not have to lower or remove the rear bumper (there are a lot of sensors on cars attached to bumpers these days...) so he charged me an hour of labor. The etrailer price and cost of installation was much cheaper than buying from a dealer. Very happy with etrailer and the purchasing process.

2013 Toyota RAV4

Hitch fits our 2013 RAV4 nicely. Only the box receiver shows below the bumper. Easy install. Have only used it for a bike rack so far.
Outstanding service from etrailer.com though. UPS lost the first hitch and I was up against a time crunch before leaving on a trip. Emily at etrailer rushed another hitch to me that arrived in time for me to install before our trip.

2018 Toyota RAV4

I really like the Draw Tite class III 2" custom fit hitch for our 2018 Toyota RAV4 XLE. It looks like it was factory installed. You only see the reciever, not the cross beams. I installed the hitch by myself using jack stands to prop it up while I bolted it on. I had to cut the rear fascia on bottom of vehicle 1 1/2” deep by about 3" wide. Instructions said 1" x 2", but it would have been too small.
I did have to remove the rear keyless entry antenna under the rear fascia per instructions with hitch. It was just 2 screws and came with 2 zip ties to re-attach to hitch cross beams. (The 2017 installation video on etrailer did not mention this. But I have a 2018.)
I am only using the hitch for a bike rack, no towing. (Glad I went with this hitch as opposed to Curt class II 1 1/4" which requires you to strap bikes and bike rack to the rear hatch of vehicle.)
The box looked like it was hit by a train all torn and ripped and open. The UPS guy helped me remove the hitch to make sure it was okay. Only a few minor scuffs on the cross beam of hitch which can't be seen.
Very happy with the hitch. You won't be sorry if you purchase this hitch!

by:

Love it -- especially how it's mostly hidden. I borrowed a torque wrench and installed it myself without too much trouble. Definitely get a friend to help. I had no friends that day but was able to do it alone with the help of some cinder blocks and books used to support the weight of the hitch while getting it in place.

It's heavy and definitely drops the suspension a bit on my 2018 Rav4 Hybrid. I bought some air bags for the shocks to fix that; haven't installed those yet.

by:

Shipping was fast, the hitch arrived three days earlier than promised. Installation was straightforward, the on-line videos were excellent help. The hitch fit very well, all the holes lined up and the bolts went in.
These hitches are heavy and awkward. I used my engine hoist to carry most of the weight and still needed another set of hands to swing it up into position so I could start the bolts. I had to get it past the exhaust system, so having someone on the other side was a huge help. Once I had a bolt in each side it went easily from there.
It looks great once installed and works just as expected.

Excellent customer service at eTrailer.com!!! I ordered the hitch, then decided to add a Yakima bike rack to my already completed order. Brenden at eTrailer quickly edited my order, and then shipped it that evening! Very quick turnaround and delivery of my order.

The Draw-Tite Custom Class III hitch fits my 2017 Toyota Rav4 perfectly! The description, installation video, and photos on eTrailer are very accurate to the look and fit of this model.

The Yakima rack is solid, and was easy to assemble in about 15 minutes with all the required tools included in the box. I love that the rack tilts down to allow access to the rear hatch, and has built in security locks for both bikes, and the hitch itself.

2018 Toyota RAV4

Installed on a 2018 Toyota Rav4.

Instructions
were a little tough to understand but if you have some basic mechanical knowledge you can figure it out. There are a couple of steps on the instructions that were not necessary to complete this install. They wanted you to remove a piece of fascia that was not required. I only had to trim one piece of fascia and that was pretty simple, I just used a dremel. I installed this on my own and it was a little difficult trying to lift the hitch in place and start the bolts but I was able to pull it off. It took me about an hour to install this and a some basic tools. I bought this receiver hitch so I can utilize my motorcycle receiver hitch hauler. I chose this hitch due to its hideaway crossbar. I didn't want to look at the back of my vehicle and see this receiver hitch bar hanging down and this product does a good job of hiding that.

2015 Toyota RAV4

Excellent draw tite hitch. Love the way its completely hidden. Installed on Toyota Rav4 2015 XLE AWD. Got a 5X8 Aluma trailer, only weighs 350 lbs so have lots of weight left to haul. Easy installation and excellent video. Also the wiring was fantastic. Etrailer is the only way to go.

by:

This concealed hitch is a little more trouble to install, but worth the effort. Everything fit perfectly and holes aligned. A Video would have helped, as i had trouble understanding what was what in the written instructions, but maybe my pictures will help somebody else.
You remove 2 screws and a bolt from each side and two bolts you can see if you zoom in, on each side in the back( they are hidden by the liftgate until you open it. Then you can easily remove the back panel (we used to call it a bumper??) by gently lifting and pulling. I didn't disconnect the wiring harness, just supported side. I still need to cut out some in the plastic panel underneath, on the passenger side, to fit around the round bar, which is up high due to the "hidden" look. Hope the pics help.

2016 Toyota RAV4

This was installed on my 2016 Rav4. The installation was straightforward and pretty easy. The only issue I had was with installation of the passenger-side bolts. My car is relatively new but I'm in the Northeast and there is NO WAY those bolts were going into any frame bolt holes that didn't have anything in them before. If you're in the same situation, do yourself a favor and run a 12mm tap through the holes before you start the install. I was putting in the hitch by myself so I'm under the car holding up the hitch frame with my leg like a maniac trying to quickly start the bolts so I could let it go, this is not the way to do this. Once I chased the threads out everything installed super easy. If you have a rotary tool trimming the fascia and the undercarriage plastic pieces is a breeze. Once installed this hitch looks great, it's barely there, no visible crossbar looking ugly or getting caught on things.

by:
2010 Toyota RAV4

It fit fine. It was a little awkward getting it all to line up but once I got it into place it all fit fine. To fit this on the 2010 RAV4 I had to cut a square out of the bumper cover. (See picture) I like that it’s tucked up a little higher than the standard hitch. I haven’t had it scrape anywhere unlike previous car/hitch combinations.

I love my Draw Tite Max Frame Trailer Hitch. I didn't even know that you could add a hitch to a vehicle until someone at work told me you could. I like to bike and I was tired of laying down my seats down in my Rav4 and lifting my bike in. He told me about adding a hitch to your car. I went online and in less than 1/2 hour I had ordered a hitch and a 2 bike rack. My son installed it without any trouble and I was ready to go. I was very happy. It was just what I needed and I thought the price was great.

Still love my hitch. It does what it is suppose to do and I have no problems with it. I am so glad that I added it to my Rav4.

2014 Toyota RAV4

The hitch arrived today and I didn’t have any trouble installing it on my 2014 RAV4. I like the fact the support bars are hidden behind the lower fascia and can’t be seen from the rear.. i have the wiring kit also but I will do that at another time. Now I will be able to use my old bike rack for an upcoming trip.

Bought this hitch due to it being a hide-a-hitch only seeing the 2” receiver from the back of our SUV ... It was easy to install with basic tools ... I really like the quality of this hitch... Highly recommend it ...

  • Why are Your 2" Hitches Rated for 3,500 Pounds but My 2013 Toyota RAV4 is Rated for 1,500 Pounds?
As far as the maximum gross towing weight rating of your 2013 Toyota RAV4, you are correct that it is only rated for 1,500 pounds. For the hitch construction, the particular 2" hitches that are available for a 2013 RAV4 also fit newer models of RAV4 that have a 3,500 pound maximum weight rating. This is the reason for the big difference between the hitches and your 1,500 limit. • Correct Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack on a 2016 Toyota RAV4 XLE Hybrid
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2016 Toyota RAV4 XLE Hybrid is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98864. This is also the best trailer hitch you can use on your RAV4 for a bike rack because the receiver tube is not tucked too far back under the bumper which means the list of compatible bike carriers is much greater. The etrailer Trailer Hitch is a custom fit so no drilling is required. I have attached an install video, and review that confirms fit on the XLE Hybrid as well. If...

  • Grille Guard and Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Toyota RAV4
Best option for the front that we offer is a grille guard like part # AA2065 which is a fit for your 2018 Toyota RAV4 as it's designed to protect the front of the vehicle. Then for the rear a trailer hitch like the etrailer part # e98864 would work to some degree but it's not really designed for protection. You could then use a ball mount like # C45155 to give a bit more protection as well.

  • Is Removal of Bumper for Installation of Curt Hitch on 2017 Toyota Rav4 Required?
There are hitches available for your 2017 Toyota Rav4 that will not require fascia removal, the Class III Curt # C13406 or Curt # C13149. The only requirements for these hitches are the trimming of the underbody panel. I've added a link to a video showing installs of both hitches on a 2016 Rav4. If you are going to be towing, the correct wiring to add a 4 flat is # 118578. I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two...

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for a 2018 Toyota RAV4
To add a wiring harness to your 2018 Toyota RAV4, you will want the Curt T-Connector item # C56350. This wiring harness is custom fit and plugs in to existing wiring in your rear cargo area. There are no wiring harnesses for your Toyota that don't require a power wire ran directly to your battery. The converter box on the wiring harness needs a direct power source to operate your trailer's lights. The harness doesn't draw power from where it plugs in at the cargo area, it only gets the...

  • Does 2016 Toyota RAV4 Need Brake Controller to Tow Trailer
If your trailer has brakes then it wouldn't be a bad idea to use them but not all trailer have brakes. Smaller ones that have 4-way connectors do not have brakes so there's no need to install a brake controller. A good portion of trailers with 7-ways do have brakes but that's not always the case. If you see wires running to the backside of the hub that's a pretty easy way to know for sure. If the trailer weighs more than half the tow vehicle then brakes are highly recommended. For a Class...

  • 2017 Toyota RAV4 Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations
Of course! I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76134 and the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56350 for your 2017 Toyota RAV4. The Draw-Tite has a hidden crosstube and is a very reliable trailer hitch while the Curt T-Connector tees in behind your tail lights and draws power directly from your vehicle battery with the included black wire to keep your OEM wring safe. I also recommend picking up the Mounting Brackets # C42CR and # C57202 so your...

  • Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for Two 60 Pound Aventon Level Step-Through Electric Bikes
For a bike rack that will accommodate your 60 lb Aventon Level step-through bikes I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HLY84FR. This will hold two electric bikes up to 80 lbs per bike. Since it mounts to the frame the fenders will not be an issue. Because you have step-through bikes you will also need a bike adapter bar like the Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes # HRBA-PRO....

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2016 Toyota RAV4
I will be happy to help you select a hitch and hitch mount bike rack for your 2016 Toyota RAV4 so you and the family can get out and go biking! Curt trailer hitch # C13406 is an excellent choice. With this hitch installed only the receiver will be visible. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. There are numerous 3-bike racks you can use but I recommend a 4-bike rack because it will be easier to load the bikes and there will be more space. The most popular 4-bike...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Toyota RAV4 for Weight Distribution System
Only solution I can safely recommend is to remove the hitch you have and install the etrailer part # e98864 instead which is rated for use with weight distribution systems. If you use any WD system with the # C13406 the warranty of the hitch would be voided and you could potentially damage the vehicle/hitch. The Reese weight distribution system part # RP66540 would then work well for you as it has a capacity of between 200 and 600 lbs. For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and...
