Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Traverse - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Traverse we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Draw-Tite Custom Fit Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver. It offers the two inch by two inch opening. Its part number is 75528. All right. Now here is what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see, it remains completely hidden behind the rear fascia.

This allows us to maintain our factory look from the rear of the vehicle. When we're ready to use our hitch we'll just turn the two little knobs there. That holds it in place and that releases it. Set that aside. There you will see your hitch. This is a Class 3 hitch so it's going to be very, very versatile.

Bike racks, cargo carriers, ball mounts. It's going to have our two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. You can see that's got the rounded style reinforcement collar on the end. It kind of gives it a clean look. You're going to have a rolled steel style safety chain connection point with plenty of room there for connecting your safety chains whether they be big or small, shouldn't have any issues. Then you'll see here on the side of the receiver tube, there are going to be two holes.

Now the one located closer to the front of the vehicle is the larger hole. That's going to be the one we use to hold all of our items in place and get those secured. There's plenty of room on each side there, in front and back, so whatever style of anti-rattle device, locking hitch, fender standard hitch, pin and clip you might decide on should work well. You just want to be sure it's rated for Class 3 use. The smaller pinhole, a little bit closer to the rear, that for use of the J-pin stabilization system. Another nice feature, you'll see there's been a tab welded on right here.

This will allow you to connect four-pull or seven-pull wiring. Now when it comes to weight ratings for our hitch it's going to offer a 750-pound towing tongue weight capacity. That's the maximum downward force that we could put here at the receiver tube opening and the hitch is going to give us a 5,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. That would be the total weight of your trailer plus anything that you we're to load up on it. We move into a weight distribution setup and our tongue weight rating is going to stay the same at 750 pounds. However, the gross trailer weight rating, it's going to go up to 7,500 pounds. We will of course want to take a look at the Traverse's owner manual. We need to see what it's rated for and we'll go off of whichever of those numbers are the lowest. Now a couple of measurements that are going to be helpful in selecting your ball-mount bike rack or hitch cargo carrier. It will be from the ground to the top edge of the receiver tube opening. We've got about 18-1/2 inches. Then from the center of our hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of our bumper it's about 6 inches. To begin our installation, we're going to take the appearance panel that's here on the back of the Traverse. There are just two little keepers. We turn those, pull down and it will come right off. Sometimes if it hangs up you'll have to pull one of those little tabs out up there on the top. You've just got to push in and pull down on it. We'll be re-installing that later so we'll set that aside. We're also going to lower down the exhaust to give us room to get to our access points. Before we lower it down, let's use a support strap to go underneath it. Just a regular cam buckle strap is what we're using here. That's going to give it something to rest on so it doesn't hang down too far. Now we're going to grab a little bit of spray lubricant and we're going to be removing the hangar that's located right here. We go directly on the other side of the tailpipe and we've got one right there, then if we follow this forward it's going to be another one located right up here in front of this cross member. We use a little spray lubricant on these. It usually helps them slide off there a little bit easier. We'll just use a large screwdriver or a pry bar and get those slid off. Now as you take this one off the exhaust is gong to drop down a little bit so you'll want to support it. Then we'll let it come down and rest on that strap. That will give us plenty of room to get to the two weld nuts that are in the rear of the frame here. We've got one right here and one right here. Those are going to act as our outside attachment points. Those are going to be in the same spots on both sides. In the middle, see the two rounded holes One here and one here. That's where we're going to put our plate nuts right up over top of that. We'll show you that in a few minutes. Now it's a good idea before you lift your hitch up into position to use a little spray lubricant and a tube brush to get out any dirt or debris that might be in those weld nuts. If you don't have a tube brush at home, this is Part Number 814092. We'll do that on both sides and then get our hitch put into place. Now we can raise our hitch into position and we're going to secure it with the provided hardware. We're going to use a conical tooth washer. We want to make sure the teeth of that washer are facing up toward the hitch and we'll align the holes in our hitch with the weld nuts. Once we have 4-5 good turns on one side, we'll get the one installed on the other side. We'll let our hitch rest there while we get our rear fasteners installed here on the outside. All right. That takes care of our outside fasteners. Now let's get our interior fasteners taken care of. Now you can see these are just blank holes. There's nothing behind them. If you do have weld nuts behind them, then you can just use the same type of hardware we used on the outside of the frame, conical tooth washer and thread it right up and in. Since we don't have weld nuts, we're going to have to place a handle nut right in and over that. You'll want to put just a little bit of a bend in that handle nut, just like that, and bring in one of our spacer blocks, place our bolt up and through, handle nut above it, and then we'll just get it threaded. Got that one started and we'll do the same thing for the other side right here. Now we just want to find the center line of the vehicle and make sure we've got our hitch centered with it and we'll start snugging down that hardware. Now, for our bolts in the middle here, we're going to use a 3/4 incher and 19mm socket. The ones on the outside, we'll use an 18mm socket for. Now it's time to look at our instructions where we'll find our torque specifications and we'll go around and torque each bolt down appropriately. Now our hitch is installed at this point. Let's just get our exhaust put back into position. I'm just going to raise it up and slide those hangars right back over where they came off of. Then we'll pull down that strap. Now we can take our cover and pop it right back on there. Maintain our factory look here at the rear of the vehicle and we can easily pop that cover off anytime we need to use our hitch. With everything back in place that's going to complete our installation of the Draw-Tite Custom Fit Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver, Part Number 75528 on our 2017 Chevrolet Traverse.

Researched the product as well as the company. I was satisfied with my decision and also reviewed videos for installation and additional items I may need to purchase. Made the purchase and I was immediately contacted to inform me my order was being processed and shortly after, I was notified the items had shipped. I was told when to expect the shipment. From the first keystroke of the order until the final turn of the installation, everything was first class and exactly as advertised. Items arrived on time, the fit was right on and would recommend etrailer and Draw-Tite to all. 568541

This was an amazing deal and an amazing product. I received my package on time and installed it the next day. The hitch installed very easy. I was impressed with the fact that the install videos were linked with my receipt and I used them to install the hitch from my cell phone under the vehicle. The hitch fit like it was supposed to and tucks up inside the bumper like a factory hitch. Very pleased with the whole process from buying, to receiving and to installing. Would buy from these guys again and again. Thank you for a great experience 571218

This is was the first towing hitch I have installed. Installation was easier than I thought, took about an hour and a half including, gathering of tools and exhaust system cooling time and a single set of hands. What I liked about the hitch receiver were the tolerances to which it was made, it had very little movement at the time of adjustment for final torquing of bolts. Also, once the factory hitch cover goes back on, there is no way to tell if one is on. The only problem is that if you have a cargo carrier to use like mine, it is difficult to insert a keyed locking pin as there were only about 5 inches to work with, still recommend. This was installed on a 2014 Traverse. The videos on Etrailer are extremely helpful, I felt more comfortable doing the install by myself. Saved me at least $200. 144395

Unbelievable service/support!. Let's start with shipping...2 1/2 days, delivered a whole day ahead of estimated arrival date. Product - superb. Didn't make the 1/2 install time on the hitch as I was working by myself (that sucker is heavy!) and when I went to lower the dual exhaust, got one of the hangers but not the other. Found this out when I went back to put the one I took off back on. My bad. So I was still able to install the hitch but couldn't get my torque wrench in there to do it proper. Will have to go back and do again but I was still able to install tightly to tow a little 4' X 7' utility trailer no sweat. Will probably have the hitch welded to the frame since its hidden when not in use. Electrical Install....another piece of cake with one minor exception. The directions indicated to attach the black wire coming from the battery to the RED wire coming out of the module. There is no RED wire coming out of the module, it's black also. My knowledge of DC wiring told me to go with it. I did, everything worked great. As previously reported, the green wire going to the passenger side was a little short (probably due to my routing) but the black wire going to the battery was about a foot long (I liked that)! I'm not real happy about my routing so I will go back and redo when I get the hitch welded. I want a really good job and the initial install I was under to gun to rush the job so I had to take a couple of harmless shortcuts. When I do the redo, I'll document for etrailer.com, they are most deserving in my book! I most strongly recommend these folks at etrailer.com. In fact, I need to go back to them for the 4 wire flat connector bracket and their 2" ball. Was in too much of a rush this go-around. . 148764

Ordering from Etrailer was easy and with free shipping, can't go wrong. This trailer hitch was easily installed and works great. Installed in less than 15min on a 2014 Traverse. I do not know about other hitches, but what is nice about this one, is the hitch sits well up under the vehicle, so the same plastic hitch cover that came with the vehicle can still be used. I was somewhat expecting to have to purchase the alternate cover which has extension for the hitch receiver or leave the hitch visible. The wife was pleased, that the hitch was not visible. 141031

Keith, which hitch did you buy and what model Traverse do you have? Where does one buy the alternative cover?

Keith ordered the Draw-Tite Max-Frame hitch, part # 75528 from us for his 2014 Traverse. There are alternate covers from GM, but whether you'd need one would be dependent on year and which model. This hitch fits Traverse, Outlook, Enclave and Acadia.

2017 Chevy Traverse Super easy installation. I was able to install it myself. There were a few issues I had to overcome however: 1. Getting the plug into the wire harness underneath the vehicle took quite a bit of time as it is very hard to get to. I ended up having my wife help me by pulling the plastic body piece out so I could get my arm in to reach it better. 2. The YouTube video is very helpful for the most part however, There is a discrepancy between the directions that came with the wiring harness and the fuses/relays that were included. Follow the instructions that come with the harness and it will be alright. Do not rely on the Youtube video for this portion of the install. 3. The plug connector that attaches to the hitch itself needs a mounting bracket that IS NOT included with the hitch. The bracket is easily found at an automotive parts store but take the connector with you to make sure it fits properly onto the bracket. Other than these minor (and somewhat confusing) issues this tow package was easy to install and it is VERY well built. 572927

The the 4-pole wiring bracket you need to attach to the existing bracket on this hitch is part Item # 18144. If you need a bracket for a 7 way plug I recommend part # PK12711U.

I was impressed with the quality of the product. I was dreading trying to get the nuts in place for the bumper bolts. I was surprised to see two nuts with metal straps included in the hardware. It was very easy to place the nuts into their proper place and complete the process. That was a perfect solution. Installation took a little longer because i had to clean up the rusted frame threads. Too bad GM doesn't put plastic caps into the threads to keep them from rusting beyond use. Otherwise I am thoroughly pleased with the hitch, mounting instructions and the ease of installation. 435957

No problem putting on the Hitch our 2012 Enclave. My wife did not want the hitch to show. Done some research and found that GM has a fisacia insert that takes the place of the one you remove. GM part # 25775358. A little pricey but worth it. 107818

Just got a 2014 Enclave. Thinking to buy the same hitch. Based on the video, it seems the orig. rear fascia door can be re-installed back. Why did you not put back the orig. one? Its not possible or you dont like the orig. fascia style? Or, only 20132014 enclave fascia door can be reinstalled? Thanks.

Tom, I think part of your response got cut off. The Enclave received a bit of a facelift for the 2013 model year and the changes to rear bumper cover allow for the original cover to be re-installed over a hitch on 2013 and newer. 2012 and older models require a different panel to accommodate a hitch.

You are correct, or at least that was my understanding from Pecks Trailer Hlitch installation. I just know my fascia would not go back on, the hitch is very hard to see anyway Just my wifes car and she did not want the hitch to show.

Like many others stated, super easy installation of the hitch. Only took me about 30 min by myself. It took me about an hour for the wiring harness and bracket since I had to find another bolt and nut since it only came with 3. The thing that gave me the most trouble was the wiring harness. I couldn't bring the cannon plug down towards me at all so I had to do it all by feel. The mounting bracket for the wiring harness I chose to flip upside down and bend towards the rear of the car and down so I could hide the wiring and hitch completely. The other reason was because I didn't want the bracket to catch on anything because it was lower than the bumper. I ordered the supplies on Fri and they were here mid day the following Tuesday. With all the great videos, a job that might have taken me 4-5 hours only took 2 hours plus knowing where the cannon plug was helped tremendously. If I hadn't known where it was I would have prob had to do a splice job. This job, in my opinion, looks professional. Thanks ETRAILER. 399633

One of my key concerns was that several vendors apparently ship these trailer hitches unwrapped and without a box. I was pleased to find that the hitch was nicely packaged with the parts nicely secured. I found the video very helpful, and I completed the installation in less than an hour. Using a ratchet strap to secure the mufflers made the job quite simple. I did have help holding up one side of the hitch while I started the bolts, but other than that it was largely a solo effort. My Enclave has only been through one winter, and the bolts threaded in after minimal cleaning the threads with a shot of WD40. The four rubber muffler hangers popped off without use of lubricant or a pry bar. Oh, by the way I took advantage of the low price guarantee. Etrailer provided the price difference plus 10% before the item even shipped. I almost felt guilty about getting a credit when I found a lower price from a lesser vendor. Etrailer has been extremely responsive, and I couldn't be happier with the whole experience. 202383

I went back and refreshed my memory last years review, and I am still satisfied today. The hitch looks the same as when I installed it a year ago.It was a great value and buying experience, and if I am in the market for trailer accessories, I will be back.I think that the etrailer business model of including customer comments and informative installation videos would translate well to other parts markets.

Ok, now down to the meat of my install. After carefully chasing the four weld nuts and fighting an exhaust system that would not cooperate, my son and I got this bad boy up in no time. Despite the fact that it was 98 degrees that day! It fit perfectly. The only issue was finding the torque specs which we found printed on the back of what appeared to be the French version of the install instructions. Still give five stars! The help I received ordering all my parts over the phone was second to none! Even considering it was a Saturday! Thanks to everyone involved!!! 567385

Perfect fit on GMC acadia 2008. Easy to install, thanks to the instructional videos. Distance from center of 5/8 pinhole to farthest part of bumber is around 5 inches. There is also a 1/2 hole. Arrived on time. Perfect fit with mounting bracket 18144. Wiring harness 118451 was also easy to install. 39220

2012 Chevrolet Traverse

I bought the Draw-Tite Class III 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver for my '12 Chevy Traverse. I got it for one main reason, a new hitch mounted bike carrier. I was a little nervous about ordering it, because I was worried about the fit, and I don't have any experience with trailer hitches. Prior to ordering it, I did a little research on the website. I plugged in the year, make and model of my car, and the site gave me a few options for custom fit hitch receivers. I picked the one that I wanted, and then I looked over the instructions, Q&A, and watched the installation video. The video is what really swayed me, it looked really simple! I was right. When the hitch receiver arrived, I was surprised at how light it was, it was lighter than my bike carrier! I will say that the included instructions are a bit lacking. I think some larger and more clear pictures with the appropriate step would be helpful. Thankfully, the website does a fantastic job with the installation instructions, and again, the video was a HUGE help! When I first tried to install it, I couldn't get the appropriate bolts into the weld nuts. I had cleaned them with some WD-40 and a wire brush, or so I thought. I thought that I was sent the wrong size bolt because the teeth would not even grab into the weld nut, and it just kept spinning; I was aggravated at the thought of waiting for replacement parts. But, I went back to the website and looked a little further into the Q&A section, and I found another video on cleaning the weld nuts. In the video, it described my exact issue, and even explained that despite one's belief that the bolts would not fit the weld nuts, 99% of the time the weld nuts were not thoroughly cleaned out. Well, guess what? I went back to cleaning the weld nuts, and after a total of roughly 4hrs and some serious elbow grease and a full can of WD-40, I had cleaned out the weld nuts enough so that the bolts fit with ease! My '12 Traverse has about 37K miles on it, so there was a lot of rust and grime in there. After getting the weld nuts clean, the actual installation of the hitch receiver took me maybe 45mins. And I had no issues with installing it by myself. I did have to lower my spare tire in order to get my torque wrench in there, but other than that there were no major issues. I can't imagine paying a couple hundred $$ extra to have a professional install this. Even if someone had absolutely no mechanical ability whatsoever, they could install this themselves; just watch the video and follow the instructions. Honestly, I think I've had more difficulty in helping my kids build their LEGO sets, than I did installing this hitch! I would highly recommend etrailer.com to anyone looking for a hitch, and I am extremely pleased with the ease of the entire process, from finding the right product to delivery to installation. Although I didn't deal directly with customer service, I'm sure that if you can't find an answer to your question on the website itself, someone from customer service would certainly be able to help you. Thank you etrailer! 261694

I ordered the hitch at 6pm on a Monday and it arrived at 2pm on a Thursday via standard UPS delivery. This installation was a snap. I set my laptop up in the back of our 2011 Traverse, watched the installation video and had it on in about 30 minutes. We also purchased the 118450 wiring harness. My wife and I had a great time installing it together; again in about 45 minutes. Thanks "etrailer" for getting me the correct parts (so quickly) and for producing the fantastic install videos! 54619

2010 Saturn Outlook

I purchased this hitch for my 2010 Saturn Outlook to haul our Boy Scout Troop's trailer for an upcoming campout. I watched the video associated with the product a few times before the hitch came so that I knew how to install it. The suggested install time said 45 minutes, but it took me over 3 hours. However, this was not the fault of the hitch, it was due to me not realizing there were 2 gaskets instead of 1 to lower my 2 mufflers, installing this by myself (it got heavy holding it up by myself), and mainly to having 7 years worth of rust, dirt and debris in the bolt holes under my vehicle. It took me a long time to get the bolts started in the holes. I ended up going to an auto parts store to get some rust removal and more spray lubricant. After I had ordered the hitch, I saw a recommendation for a wire brush. I REALLY wish I had ordered it. The auto parts store I went to did not have one. After a lot of trying to muscle the bolts on, what finally worked was spray a lot of rust removal in the hole. Then I sprayed a lot of spray lubricant in the hole and on the bolt. Once I got the bolt started, I tightened the bolt until it stopped moving. I then removed the bolt, wiped off all the rust on the bolt, re-lubricated the bolt and put it on again going further than the previous time. I repeated this step many times for each of the 4 bolts. It took me 2 hours to figure out this procedure. As soon as I did, the hitch went on easily. It fit the mountings perfectly and looks great. Once I figured out how to clean out the rust and get a good thread going, it went on easily. The directions and video were excellent. I would recommend this hitch to anyone looking for one and tell them to buy the recommended wire brush, take their time to work through the rust, and use a lot of spray lubricant. 409035

This product is exactly what it advertises. Extremely easy to install. This is on a 2015 GMC Acadia. Solid piece. There are pre-drilled holes in the Acadia, so it takes the guess work away. You just have to move the 1 rubber piece holding the muffler for easier access. Other then that, it's easy. Highly recommended this product. 512340

2012 GMC Acadia

I received the hitch, ball mount and wiring for my 2012 Acadia within just a couple of days after placing the order. The entire order was well packed in very heavy cardboard and was still in good condition upon arrival. I finally got around to putting it on today and as some others have indicated taking loose the muffler hangers and reinstalling them is probably the worst part of the job. I used some of my wifes vegetable spray and that helped a great deal. I did need my wife to help hold up on the hitch as I got the bolts started so we made a family project out of it. 74966

Yes, we still like that the hitch has the capability of being hidden withthe optional cover that we purchased for our 2012 Acadia. We will be using it again shortly to trailer our golf cart up to the campgrounds.

2012 GMC Acadia

I received the hitch in the mail a few days ago, and I must first say that the packaging was very good. The hitch was well protected and boxed up nicely, with no loose parts anywhere. The instructions were fairly easy to follow and installation took about 1 hour. It could have taken less time if I had a lower profile torque wrench. The distance between the top of the muffler and the bolt was less than 2" and the height of my torque wrench and socket were more than that. So, in my case, it took me hanging on the muffler to make enough room to get the wrench in between to tighten the bolts to specification. As I said before, I didn't have the proper tool so I used what I had. For the 2012 GMC Acadia, the installation used 6 bolts, 6 cone washers, 2 spacers, and 2 handle nuts. The plastic bumper cover and the rubber muffler vibration mounts are the only things that need to be removed for the installation. Overall, it seems like a well-built trailer hitch. I look forward to many years of use! 70641

2014 Buick Enclave

Installed on a 14' Buick Enclave. etrailer has fantastic instructions and support I knee what had to be done before hitch arrived. No surprises and was able to tow from TX to WI with no issues. Took about an hr to install by myself without lifting car. Also took pictures to document process. I did have one minor issue when I arrived at the trailer rental place and running lights didn't work. A fuse blew after 1st trip with it. Replaced and haven't had issues since. Very minor and don't think reflects any negativity onto quality of product. I also highly suggest purchasing plug clip mount with this hitch. If not the plug is dangling and it's not expensive to add the mount. Glad I did and it looks nice. 514224

i bought the hitch package, hitch, harness and ball mount. the materials are first rate and well made. installing the hitch took less than 30 minutes. instructions said to drop the muffler on the passenger side rear for access to the holes, but on the 2009 traverse i had room without dropping the muffler. the wire harness took a couple hours thru no fault of the product. i had trouble getting one of the taillight assemblies out. very happy and recommend the product to anyone. thanks much!!!!!! 183277

2016 GMC Acadia

The online purchasing process could not be any easier through etrailer. I also received emails from etrailer when the product was shipped and they even sent me an email once they were informed that the product had been delivered to my house. Pretty impressive. The packaging of the product was exactly what I would expect. Many reviews from others had mentioned suppliers that have shipped their product without any boxing material and the product showing up being damaged and parts missing. etrailer packages their products in a very durable packing box, the product is mobilized with additional packing material inside to prevent dings and damage, and all of the mounting hardware and instructions are sealed in a bag. Assembly could not be easier. eTrailer has created a great You Tube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEqrluxIw5o which made installation a breeze after watching this. I had my 4 yr old daughter help me with the installation (She held up one side of the hitch while I started the bolts on the other side), I dropped the muffler for easier access to the vehicle’s frame mounting holes on one side, and I used the handle nuts that were provide by etrailer to install the bolts through the predrilled holes in my Acadia which made the rear bolt install quite easy. The hitch fit perfectly without any interference and the 2016 Acadia's cover also fits back on my vehicle to hide everything while the hitch is not in use. I timed the entire installation process and it only took me 16 minutes and 10 seconds. etrailer provided clearance measurements for the mounting of accessories which gave me confidence that my cargo carrier would fit. My cargo carrier fits into the hitch perfectly, there is ample clearance between my carrier and my vehicle, and there is enough clearance around the hitch to use a locking hitch pin. You really cannot beat the quality of this product, the easy of ordering from etrailer, the efficient and professional shipping process that etrailer has created, and the ease of installation for this product. 400626

I put this hitch on in about 45 minutes single-handedly -- no, really, I am 7 weeks out from rotator cuff surgery and I found it easy to install using mostly my non-dominant arm. It's that easy! On the Traverse, it is truly a "hidden hitch" -- see pics. I used this hitch in conjunction with the Curt C56245 wiring harness and TrailerMate TM76470 mounting bracket. Each of those products work perfectly with this hitch. I would not change anything, this is a perfect setup. 206111

This was a very easy installation. The videos and the written procedures were exellent! I've used this now for hauling a 4-place bike rack and a utility trailer and it works as advertised. The product is very beefy and sturdy! You can feel very secure with the load you are carrying or towing! Thank you e-trailer! Simply the best place in the states for your towing and trailering needs! You can't go wrong with them! 644271

I found the workmanship(welding, layout, machining) to be of excellent quality. I’m 66 years old and installed this hitch by myself with 2 jack stands and a ratchet strap in less than an hour. Everything lined up perfectly and the instructions were clear and concise. I would definitely recommend this product. 642346

I ordered the Draw-Tite hitch for my Buick Enclave. Three or four business days later it arrived at my home. I was pleasantly surprised by the heavy duty gauge of the metal and craftsmanship. It's hard for me to imagine that the sort of work I will do with this hitch will ever test its strength. I installed the hitch in approximately one hour. It took me longer, by far, to get the car on ramps and drop the exhaust than it took to install the hitch. Literally, the installation requires six bolts. Easy. I saved approximately 50% on this project by ordering from etrailer and self installing. 641659

Hitch and wiring harness arrived well packed and complete. The installation went great, exactly like the instructions and completed in less than an hour! Used it the next day with no problems. This is a great addition for my Buick Enclave allowing us to do minor hauling around home and added storage space on trips. The quality of the hitch exceeded expectations, good work! 642651

I’m not sure how the item works. Unfortunately the contact points for the bolts are rusted out on my 2014 Acadia. I asked my brother if he wanted it for his 2014 Enclave but those are also rusted out. Of the four people I know with a similar GMC vehicle they are all rusted out. I would like to believe that the product is useful but may never know. If anybody have overcome this same issue please let me know. 640807

What you describe is a pretty common problem. Our customers have had excellent luck soaking each nut thats welded up into the frame with spray lubricant, then giving them a good scrub with a wire brush like what youd see on a battery terminal cleaner. Do this a few times, then use a M12x1.75 thread tap to clean the threads. You should be able to find one of these at your favorite hardware store or auto parts store. This is the method that the hitch manufacturers recommended, and it works like a charm.

Easy install. My Traverse only has a muffler on one side, so I was able to complete the install without lowering the exhaust, which sped things up. Not sure if you could do that with a double muffler. The hitch cover can be put back on after installation, which is nice. Recommended! 628545

This matched my ‘15 Enclave very well. The install is straight forward. It was a little difficult installing solo to hold the hitch in place and start the bolts. I was using jack stands a lift looks much easier to reach everything. The hitch looks natural on the Enclave and worked well for my bike rack and basket. I haven’t tried towing anything yet. 628382
