Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2nd one purchased - Ford Flex (1st) and most recently for a Buick Enclave. Sturdy!! Will buy from etrailer for my hitch needs. Customer Service was great and quickly matched up wire harness to my receiver.

PS - my uncle is a mechanic so I had help attaching it to my vehicles. I recommend having someone with underbody experience help attach the hitch. Less hassle and simply easier. Once it is installed correctly, never have to mess with again.

Comments
Hitch STILL works great! Hardly any wear and tear on it sturdy! No issues and as my first review attests, I will buy from etrailer again for my hauling needs.

2012 GMC Acadia

I received this Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" back in December and just installed it yesterday.
The hitch came with all mounting hardware including instructions. I went online to review the install video which I recommend to any DIY's it was very helpful. It took more than the 45 minutes that was quoted but that was because of the factory frame nuts were rusted and trying to tap them was difficult because the exhaust would only drop a few inches. All in all it was a fairly easy project for a 68 year old to accomplish.
I would recommend this product.

2014 Buick Enclave

One of my key concerns was that several vendors apparently ship these trailer hitches unwrapped and without a box. I was pleased to find that the hitch was nicely packaged with the parts nicely secured.

I found the video very helpful, and I completed the installation in less than an hour. Using a ratchet strap to secure the mufflers made the job quite simple. I did have help holding up one side of the hitch while I started the bolts, but other than that it was largely a solo effort. My Enclave has only been through one winter, and the bolts threaded in after minimal cleaning the threads with a shot of WD40. The four rubber muffler hangers popped off without use of lubricant or a pry bar.

Oh, by the way I took advantage of the low price guarantee. Etrailer provided the price difference plus 10% before the item even shipped. I almost felt guilty about getting a credit when I found a lower price from a lesser vendor. Etrailer has been extremely responsive, and I couldn't be happier with the whole experience.

I went back and refreshed my memory last years review, and I am still satisfied today. The hitch looks the same as when I installed it a year ago.It was a great value and buying experience, and if I am in the market for trailer accessories, I will be back.I think that the etrailer business model of including customer comments and informative installation videos would translate well to other parts markets.

2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Ordering from Etrailer was easy and with free shipping, can't go wrong. This trailer hitch was easily installed and works great. Installed in less than 15min on a 2014 Traverse. I do not know about other hitches, but what is nice about this one, is the hitch sits well up under the vehicle, so the same plastic hitch cover that came with the vehicle can still be used. I was somewhat expecting to have to purchase the alternate cover which has extension for the hitch receiver or leave the hitch visible. The wife was pleased, that the hitch was not visible.

Comments
Keith, which hitch did you buy and what model Traverse do you have? Where does one buy the alternative cover?

2010 Chevrolet Traverse

This hitch was a great fit for my 2010 Traverse. It was an easy install and came with everything needed, and I can still use my bumper cover. I use it for a landscape trailer and for a bike rack.

by:
2016 Buick Enclave

On the Buick Enclave, you just need to unplug the rubber bracket that holds one side of the duel muffler to the frame. That allows the wiggle room for the muffler to move over enough to get the hitch attached to the frame. That can be difficult for someone that hasn't done it previously. After that, installation is absolutely fantastic, couldn't be better.

I bought this trailer hitch last summer. Immediately at receiving, i noticed the receiver was slight tilted (to the right). I thought it would be fine once installed. But i was wrong, the receiver was not leveled, and my bike racker was always tilted to the right. It used OK, but I couldn't stand it anymore. I didn't return it last summer only because we needed it for trips and returning meant a long wait.

No problem putting on the Hitch our 2012 Enclave. My wife did not want the hitch to show. Done some research and found that GM has a fisacia insert that takes the place of the one you remove. GM part # 25775358. A little pricey but worth it.

Just got a 2014 Enclave. Thinking to buy the same hitch. Based on the video, it seems the orig. rear fascia door can be re-installed back. Why did you not put back the orig. one? Its not possible or you dont like the orig. fascia style? Or, only 20132014 enclave fascia door can be reinstalled? Thanks.

You are correct, or at least that was my understanding from Pecks Trailer Hlitch installation. I just know my fascia would not go back on, the hitch is very hard to see anyway Just my wifes car and she did not want the hitch to show.

First, thank you etrailer for your excellent Customer Service!
Install was for a 2017 Buick Enclave. Shade tree mechanic here, so I have a pair of jack stands and a small hydraulic floor jack, which I would argue are the minimal prerequisites for DIY garage/driveway install. Watch and re-watch the etrailer videos — they provide outstanding guidance that the written instructions cannot. Really clean out those weld nuts; order the tube brush if you don’t have one, and run the bolts all the way down and out before positioning the hitch to ensure no cross-threading. Finally, only tighten the 4 weld nut bolts above the mufflers about half way down during hitch install — you will need the ‘slack’, or looseness of fit in order to properly seat the 2 bolts + spacers by the bumper. The remaining bolts will seat the hitch just right. And remember to always pull, never push, your wrenches!!!

by:
Chevrolet Traverse

Overall fitment was great, installation was not too bad, and the factory plastic hitch cover still fits over the hitch (2010 Chevy Traverse).

by:

Perfect fit. Hardest part was cleaning pre drilled holes in frame. Round wire bushes worked well. I just lowered the exhaust enough to clean the holes and install the hitch.

by:

The hitch is great but wish the factory bumper cover would still fit with the hitch installed.

by:
2017 Buick Enclave

The Max Frame Trailer Hitch receiver custom fit Class III was as advertised. All of the parts came at the same time and the installation was very easy. I would recommend watching the installation video as well as following the instructions. The nice advantage was the molded cover on our 2017 Buick Enclave fit directly over the receiver so it was perfect fit. I would recommend this type of hitch to anyone thinking of paying a high price to have one installed.

2011 Chevrolet Traverse

I ordered the hitch at 6pm on a Monday and it arrived at 2pm on a Thursday via standard UPS delivery. This installation was a snap. I set my laptop up in the back of our 2011 Traverse, watched the installation video and had it on in about 30 minutes. We also purchased the 118450 wiring harness. My wife and I had a great time installing it together; again in about 45 minutes. Thanks "etrailer" for getting me the correct parts (so quickly) and for producing the fantastic install videos!

by:

Wow! Received my tow hitch package in record time. Watched installation video and had it installed on my Chevy Traverse in under an hour. Clean, works well and is hidden when not in use. This plus my new bike and rack are going to make fun this summer. Thanks etrailer.

by:

Ok, now down to the meat of my install. After carefully chasing the four weld nuts and fighting an exhaust system that would not cooperate, my son and I got this bad boy up in no time. Despite the fact that it was 98 degrees that day! It fit perfectly.
The only issue was finding the torque specs which we found printed on the back of what appeared to be the French version of the install instructions. Still give five stars!
The help I received ordering all my parts over the phone was second to none! Even considering it was a Saturday!
Thanks to everyone involved!!!

2015 GMC Acadia

It has been a year since I installed the receiver and wiring harness on my 2015 GMC Acadia. I am very pleased. They have gotten used a lot. I do lawn care and use it to pull my trailer. I drove my trailer with my Harley Davidson on it all the way to Tennessee. I would recommend the little wiring harness support bracket that I purchased on every order. It is great and makes the 4 flat plug look tidy bu not dangling down or being tied up. No issues at all. Thank you E-Trailer for inquiring about it after it has been installed for a year.

by:

I will know better after the hitch is installed, but at this time it looks great. viewed install videos, and it should be a great asset for my use.

Easy install. Took less then 45 minutes to put on including wire harness kit. Would be nice if it had included a 1/2 inch hitch pin with the hitch.

I bought this hitch after watching the installation video on the Etrailer website. It was easy to install! I installed this in my driveway and it took me about 45 minutes. Etrailer provides great installation videos and product information so you can make an informed decision. If you can work a ratchet and socket, you can install a hitch! Great information! Great product! Great company! Thanks!

2012 GMC Acadia

I received the hitch, ball mount and wiring for my 2012 Acadia within just a couple of days after placing the order. The entire order was well packed in very heavy cardboard and was still in good condition upon arrival. I finally got around to putting it on today and as some others have indicated taking loose the muffler hangers and reinstalling them is probably the worst part of the job. I used some of my wifes vegetable spray and that helped a great deal. I did need my wife to help hold up on the hitch as I got the bolts started so we made a family project out of it.

Yes, we still like that the hitch has the capability of being hidden withthe optional cover that we purchased for our 2012 Acadia. We will be using it again shortly to trailer our golf cart up to the campgrounds.

Perfect fit on GMC acadia 2008. Easy to install, thanks to the instructional videos. Distance from center of 5/8 pinhole to farthest part of bumber is around 5 inches. There is also a 1/2 hole. Arrived on time. Perfect fit with mounting bracket 18144. Wiring harness 118451 was also easy to install.

2009 Saturn Outlook

Everything went great with our purchase of a hitch for my 2009 Saturn Outlook except that my car had almost 200,000 miles on it and we live on a dirt road. The preset bolt threads in the frame were so dirty that we had to buy a new tap to clean them out to get the supplied bolts to fit. After that we put on a hitch hauler, loaded it with luggage for vacation, and drove over 2,500 miles without incident.

Comments
We have traveled each year using this hitch and have had no problems! I would recommend!

I mounted the hitch to the back of my 07 buick enclave. It fits perfectly and is very sturdy looking. Now I can mount my bike rack on the back so I can carry my two ebikes where ever we decide to go. My two ebikes will probably weigh in at about 110 pounds. I have no doubt that this hitch will be able to handle the load.

I've never installed a hitch prior to putting this one on. Guided by the YouTube video that walked me though each step, it went about as smoothly as can be. It was a perfect fit on my Traverse.

I've had no issues with the hitch since then. I don't tow something every day, but I've used it a handful of times, and it has not failed me.
