Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Uplander - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2008 Chevy Uplander well be installing the Draw-Tite hitch part #: 75278. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements that will assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 5 1/5 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 14 inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a drawbar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier.

Now lets go ahead with the installation. Before we can install our hitch well first need to remove multiple fasteners on the passenger side. Well go ahead and loosen the outside bracket fastener and remove the bracket fastener that goes through the bracket into the frame weld nut. This will allow us to rotate it out of the way as we install the hitch. Next, well remove the two fasteners that are, again, secured by weld nuts in the frame that hold the exhaust hanger bracket.

Now with those out of the way well be using the 10mm bolts to install our hitch. Its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold it in place while you install these fasteners. Well be using the three weld nuts on the passenger side and the two existing weld nuts on the driver side. As we install our 10mm bolts on the passenger side we will re-secure the frame support so our bolt will go through the bracket, through the hitch and into the frame. Same procedure will be for the exhaust hanger bracket.

Our new hardware will go through the hanger, through the hitch and into the weld nut into the frame. Now with all five of our 10mm bolts in place well go ahead and tighten them down. Next, using the hitch as a template well need to drill out the rearmost attachment points on both sides. Using a half inch bit well simply use it to center up so we can drill a pilot hole through each of these attachment points. Then well enlarge it to a half inch size so that itll fit our half inch bolts.

Now with both holes drilled out we can go ahead and take our half inch bolt and half inch loch washer, feed it in through the hitch and through the frame and secure it using the handle nut. The easiest way to thread our bolt into the handle nut is to bend it so that we can feed it through the frame and the access slot here on the outboard side of the frame. Now with the passenger side done Ill go ahead and repeat the same process on the drivers side. Now with both half inch bolts in place well go ahead and tighten them down and then torque all of our fasteners to specifications as indicated in the instructions. And that does it for the installation of our Draw-Tite hitch part #: 75278 on our 2008 Chevrolet Uplander.

Well built and finished hitch. Everything lined up to bolt on and compressor and exhaust re-attached. Additional two holes drilled and additional bolts fished through easily. Perhaps about little more than an hour to install. 569161

We received our hitch quickly. We were not expecting it to arrive so quickly. The hitch was exactly what we needed at a much lower cost than what the local dealers were quoting us. We had our dealership install the hitch for us and all went smoothly. The instructions were easy to understand. We also watched a video on how to install on our vehicle which also helped. Kudos to etrailer Corporation! 513033

We bought the hitch and wiring kit. Being older we had our regular garage man install. No problem installing and it has been working great this whole year. I would definitely recommend this product and company for your needs.

Awesome hitch, receiver opening is pretty much the only thing noticeable once installed. Using basic homeowner type tools and lying on the ground on my back it took me about 2 hours to install, and that's including a few short breaks. Hardest part was drilling the required holes with a 3/8" drill, had to step up in drill size a few times. By the way, I'm 68 years young, and the temperature here in Florida was about 90 degrees when I installed it so needless to say I didn't move too fast. 414512

If you don't have an air compressor for shocks, it should take no more than an hour including finding tools. If you have an air compressor give yourself at least another hour or more. With the wiring kit and making everything look factory installed it took me about 4 hours. 745392

The installation fit like a glove for my 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette van. Looks great exactly like the 2001 Montana video you have on your site. It is truly as easy as it looks on the video. I am guessing the two of us took about 45 minutes to install it. The bolts on the driver side fit very well with the leveling compressor and drilling only one hole in the compressor mounting plate and the bolts on the passenger side were perfect to remove and use the kit provided bolts that also served as the mounting bolts for the exhaust pipe installation on top of the hitch. Couldn't be happier with the installation and the cost. Thank you very much. We will be towing a pop up tent trailer so we should no issues what so ever. 540476

Product is perfect. Did not take very long to bolt up. My only other comment is I wish the slots were slightly longer to allow for better alignment with the vehilcle. Had some problems with one of the bolt holes lining up on the passenger side. Manage to make it work. Looks great. Now I will need to hooks a trailer up and see how it works. I would buy this product again. 539495

Hitch assembly is a great value. Only advise is watch the installation video. The video is well done and very detailed. Also if your vehicle is older, spend the extra time ahead of installation and WD40 nuts that haven’t had bolts in them. Mine were rusted and I spent 40 mins using old bolts to break rust free. Would buy from etrailer again without hesitation. 521739

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver to Fit a 2017 Nissan Quest
The Draw-Tite hitch you were looking at, part # 75278, fits GM vans of the late 1990's and early 2000's. Trailer hitch receivers are custom designed for specific vehicles so that they install in the best possible location. The correct hitch for your 2017 Nissan Quest is the Curt part # C13078. It bolts onto existing mouting locations on your van so there's no drilling. I've linked an install video on a 2016 Quest which is the same generation so the process is the same. If you're...

  • Hitch, Wiring and Ball Mount Kit for 2007 Chevrolet Uplander Towing Multiple Trailers
If your 2007 Chevrolet Uplander has the 121-inch wheel base then the easiest hitch install will come with the Curt 2-inch Class III hitch # 13336 since this option is a no-drill install. This hitch and the 1-1/4-inch Curt # C12336 are the only such no-drill hitches offered. If your Uplander does not have this 121-inch wheel base then the option I suggest is the Draw-Tite # 75278 which does require drilling but costs less than others. Written instructions for all referenced hitches are...

  • Will Trailer Hitch Fit with Full Size Spare Tire on 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette

The hitch may still fit with the full size spare, but neither we nor the manufacturer have tested this to know if it is a fit. • Setting Up a 2004 Chevrolet Venture to Tow a 2,500 Pound Camper with Trailer Brakes
Suspension supplements like the Timbren kits we carry may or may not be needed. At 2,500 pounds dry you should be within the tow capacity of the Venture. If your total trailer weight is close to the limit of the van, then I would suggest a suspension supplement. Since you will be towing a camper that will have pretty much the same load each time, I would suggest the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System as it will not need to be adjusted for varying loads. You would use part # TGMRREN if...
