Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the storage trays, the scuff panel, the interior side panel, and the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the T-One vehicle wiring harness with a four-pole flat trailer connector. This product fits certain years and models of the Subaru Impreza. To ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the vehicle fit guide at etrailer.com.This unit provides a four-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. This is compatible with five-pole, six-pole and seven-pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It comes with a dust cap for the four-way flat connector.

That way you can cover up your connection points when your plug is not being used. One of the things I like about this harness is the dust cap is tethered to the plug housing, so you don't have to worry about misplacing that or losing it. The black box is the included ModuLite. This is a power converter that ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The power module connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Now, this is designed to connect quickly and easily. All you've got to do is locate the connection points behind your taillights.

One of the plugs goes to the driver's side of the vehicle. The other one goes to the passengers side. The plugs on this harness are custom-fit for your vehicle, so they match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle and they snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit.Once you have those plugged in, you'll need to make a ground connection. The ground wire is your white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location using the included grounding screw.

Then you need to mount your converter box to a safe, out-of-the-way location and you can do that using the included double-sided adhesive foam tape.Once you have that done, you'll need to run your hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is the short black wire coming out of the box. This gets connected to one end of the bundle with one of the included butt connectors. The other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle battery, gets another butt connector attached to it and connects to one half of the fuse holder. The other half of the fuse holder gets a ring terminal attached to it and connects to the positive post of the vehicle battery.

It does come with your 15-amp fuse, which goes directly into the fuse holder and it has the cap that goes over it to keep it safe and protected.Once your installation is complete, the four-way connector is going to be stowed in your rear cargo area. It also comes with plenty of cable ties. That way if you have any excess or slack in your wiring, you can secure any of that up and out of the way. It is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four-pole connector itself. That grease is specifically designed to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. It is sold separately and available at etrailer.com.When it comes to the maximum amperage, for the stop and turn lights we're looking at 5 amps per circuit, and for the taillights 7.5 amps per circuit. That's going to do it for today's look at the T-One vehicle wiring harness with the four-pole flat trailer connector.

The wiring harness snaps in with oem style connectors to the taillights, which I was impressed by. I wrapped my wiring in plastic conduit so it wouldn’t be exposed to the elements behind the bumper cover or chafe against any sharp or rough edges. The provided butt connectors have plastic sheathing which made creating a watertight seal difficult. I used regular metal connectors with quality heatshrink with glue on the inside for a perfect seal. The instructions say to run the wire to the battery underneath the car, but I would never do that on any vehicle I intend to own for a long time. Exposing a power wire to the elements and debris under the car is a bit how any engineer would prefer. Luckily, it is not exceedingly difficult to run it inside the car. I went through a grommet on the panel behind the rear driver side seat above the spare tire well, and then followed the washer hose all the way to the engine bay. Piercing the grommet on the upper left side of the firewall took a few tries to get the routing just right, but now all the wiring is protected in the car, will never be seen and will not cause an issues down the road. Perhaps easy to install, but not so simple to install in the safest, close to factory standards manner. Picture is how I routed wiring from front left fender behind strut tower to battery terminal. 603257

Product arrived on time and in good condition. Product is of high quality and the instructions were good but you better have some experience installing things like this or you could get in real trouble, a video would have been helpful. 666752

Do you have a question about this Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring?

  • Towing Capacity and Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon
  • I looked up the towing capacity for your 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon and it looks to have a capacity of 1,164 to 1,325 lbs depending on how it's equipped. But you need to verify that in your owners manual. For a hitch then you'd want the Draw Tite hitch part # 76209 for a great hitch at a great price, or for a hitch that will be mostly out of plain sight we have the EcoHitch part # 306-X7350 which is also a fit. It only has the hitch opening visible below the rear bumper. The install is more...

  • Availability of 2 Trailer Hitch to Carry Thule Bike Rack with a 2017 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
  • We do have a 2" trailer hitch for your 2017 Subaru Impreza Hatchback. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7350 is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver just like what you are looking for. One of the best features of the EcoHitch brand is their commitment to designing hitches where the receiver opening and safety chain loops are the only things visible. It will give you a nice, clean look on your Impreza. This will work great with a Thule bike rack that fits a 2" receiver...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza
  • If you have the 5-door wagon 2018 Subaru Impreza you would want the part # 76209. If you have the Sedan instead you would want the part # 24960. For trailer wiring you would want the part # 118629 for the Sedan or part # 118744 for the wagon.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon
  • For your 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver- 2" # 76209 for the price point, but if you want a cleaner look and better ground clearance from the hidden crossbar then you will want the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch # 306-X7350. Both of these options offer a 2 inch receiver for your ball mount or accessory. If you will be towing, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS10035B which will allow you to adjust the ball height for...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza Towing Trailer
  • You'll need a few things to tow a small trailer with your 2018 Subaru Impreza including a hitch like you mentioned. You'll also need wiring to operate the trailer lights, a ball mount to hold the hitch ball that the trailer connects to and a hitch ball that the coupler of the trailer attaches to. For a hitch I recommend the Draw Tite hitch part # 76209, which is a custom fit for your vehicle, because it has a 2 inch hitch opening which means it has great towing capacities and because it...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza to Tow Motorcycle Trailer
  • We have hitches available for your 2018 Subaru Impreza that would be able to handle the weight of a 500-600 lb motorcycle carrier like the Draw Tite part # 76209 as it has a 675 lb tongue weight capacity, but from the research I did on your vehicle it looks like it's limited to only 350 lbs of tongue weight so this wouldn't be ideal with a motorcycle carrier. Your best option would be a small trailer for carrying the motorcycle. For that you'd need wiring part # 118629 for if you have...

  • Class II Ball Mount with Highest Rise Available for a 2018 Subaru Impreza
  • The Class II ball mount we carry that's closest to the 7 inch rise you need is part # C45014. However, it only offers 5 inches of rise. I've also attached our article on determining the amount of rise you need. You want to measure from the ground to the top of inside of your hitch receiver on your Subaru. Then compare that measurement with the distance from the ground to the underside of your trailer's coupler. The difference is the amount of rise you need. Just make sure both are...

  • Trailer Hitch Compatible with 2017 Subaru Impreza 5 Door Hatchback Wagon
  • I reached out to the manufacturers and the Curt # C11465 is a fit for your 2017 Subaru Imprezza as well as the 2018 model year. See attached installation details. The Draw-Tite # DT24959 is also a confirmed fit and fits 2008 to 2018 models (see installation details) as well as some Crosstrek models. This hitch mounts in a slightly different location than the Curt hitch and does not require the security strap # 18050. I personally would go with the Draw-Tite Hitch and avoid that...

  • What is the Highest Rated Hitch for a 2018 Subaru Impreza for Towing and Accessories?
  • The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76209 is a two inch trailer hitch receiver rated for 675 lb tongue weight and up to 4500 lbs towing capacity. There is no drilling required for this hitch installation. This receiver will work especially well with accessories like a bike rack or cargo carriers. The hitch pin hole is 3 inches recessed from the outermost part of the bumper which will be compatible with almost all 2 inch accessories. For your trailer hitch if you want trailer...

  • Troubleshooting a Trailer That Only the Right Turn Signal Works On
  • I would first start off by inspecting inside of both the vehicle and trailer side connector for corrosion or buildup. Make sure to clean out both sides of the connector before reattaching. Once this is done you will need to check for a proper ground at the connector and at each light. Some tail lights are grounded through the mounting bolts. I have included a video that explains how to test for a proper ground. If you cannot find a ground problem, you can move on to the wiring. First,...

  • Installing Trailer Wiring Connector on 2018 Subaru Impreza
  • The T-One # 118744 installs on your 2018 Subaru Impreza by teeing into your vehicle wiring behind the turn signals. It receives power via the black wire that is routed to the battery on your Impreza. If you fail to connect the power wire then your trailer lights won't be able to draw enough power to function. Some people also ask about connecting the power to a 12V source at the rear of the vehicle since a lot of newer vehicles have a 12V socket in the rear hatch area. While this seems...

  • 2017 Subaru Impreza Wagon Trailer Wiring Recommendation
  • Since not everyone that installs a trailer hitch needs wiring we offer the wiring separate from the hitches like the Draw Tite part # DT24959 that you referenced. For trailer wiring you'd then want the part # 118744 which is also a confirmed fit for your 2017 Subaru Impreza wagon. For a ball mount you'd then want the part # 3593, and for hitch balls part # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.

  • The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit part # 306-X7350 for the 2019 Subaru Impreza 5-Door Wagon with Single Exhaust allows for easy hitch pin access. There were some older model Imprezas that required the hitch pin to be added and removed from underneath the bumper with the EcoHitch installed because the hitch was behind a knock out panel in the fascia.
