Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Product better than expected and very happy with ordering system.
Word on package the internal box was destroyed. Product a ok

First off, the shipping was very fast. It was delivered sooner then promised. And now the product. On my hitch, the forward right mounting tab looked slightly bent, but after closer examination it appears the tab was welded on an angle at the factory and didn’t have any effect on where the hitch mounted to the frame. The product itself when put together was very heavy, but I still was able to install it myself with a floor jack that has a rubber pad, (kept the hitch from sliding around.). I’m not sure if the frames on K models or 3/4 tons on up have the holes in the same spot, but mine has 6 holes which do not lineup with each other. You’ll have to drill a minimum of 4 holes. My frame has two holes that matched up with the two center holes on the hitch, which worked out perfect. I just enlarged the holes a little for slight adjustment. I bolted it down, marked the frame for the remaining four holes. This puts the receiver hole of the hitch right at the end of my license plate mounting bracket. I used a shime on the center and rear mounting holes to lower the hitch just a little so I didn’t have to grind the license plate mounting bracket to fit around the end of the hitch. The forward two mounting tabs are touching the frame with no shimes. BTW, the paint kinda scuffs easy. This is my second Draw-Tite hitch. My first one is still doing great. I also added a couple of photos. The photo of the hole is the one that the center mounting tab of the hitch mounts to. That’s the only spot on the frame that has that curve.

This is a very nice hitch. Follow the instructions and take your time. Make this installation easier and Do Not tighten the cross bar until after you have drilled your new mounting holes. It mounted up to my 84 Chevy 8ft bed truck frame really well. I used the last slot in my fame and drilled four new holes. It cleared my step bumper by 1/2 inch.

1985 Dodge Ramcharger

Can fit a Ramcharger with gas tank skid plate. Good universal fit. Some suggestions for easier install. Use jb weld, or epoxy, and attach a small nut or washer to the carriage bolt that is difficult to fish. (See video)(I weld, so it was easier & faster for me to weld the small nut on, see pics) makes it much easier! Also this item CAN be used with a skid plate, you just have to modify the skid plate slightly to reinstall. (See pics)

Great ! Been towing a towable lift bucket

I ordered this on Friday last week and it arrived Monday the following week. I am very pleased and a little surprised at how fast it got here. I installed it last night and it was for the most part a smooth installation. It is a little time consuming to install (I think it took right at 3 1/2 hours) however there is nothing to be done about that. It is a great looking product. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, however the welds are good and the hardware is of good quality. I would say all and all I would absolutely recommend this product from this company. If I had to install another hitch I would buy this product again. I don’t have any pictures at the moment but I will say I have a 94 bronco, and I ordered it for that, and it fit extremely well.

So it’s been a year since I put this hitch on my truck. This thing is great! I just pulled my camper 8800 lbs, quite heavy for my bronco and it couldn’t have gone better. All the hardware is in great shape. I will say the attach loops for the trailer chains are kinda a pain to get to, however I have gotten use to it and it works great. I couldn’t be happier with this product.

by:

Installed this on my 1970chevy c10. Have pulled large trailers several times with no issues at all. Very well built trailer hitch. Etrailer is a great company to do business with. I would definitely buy from them again.

Still have no issues with my hitch. I will be rechecking the torque on the bolts to help insure that I dont have any problems. It is a very solid and well mounted hitch and I intend to keep it that way.

1995 Ford F-150

Instruction book torn up........ Had to piece and tape together. Bolts for cross tube assemble....9/16-18x 1-1/2 were way to long. Had to use 4-5 extra washers for each bolt because the flange locknut wouldn't make up on the bolt far enough to tighten........hence all the extra washers. You'd think you guys would have at least tried to assemble one for a trial test. Luckily I had the extra washers as going to town is 45 mi. Each way.

Thanks for the feedback Gary. This hitch is a multi-fit hitch, and is designed to work with a variety of vehicles so the hardware that is included may vary by what is needed depending on the configuration of the vehicle. Here is a link to the installation instructions for your reference.

Not only do you have to drill six new holes right next to a bunch of unused existing holes but you also have to remount your spare tire. I should have bought one of the other, better engineered options. 1993 D250

All of the hitch receivers that we have that fit your 1993 Dodge Ram Pickup require drilling and most require the spare tire to be repositioned.

1967 Ford F-100, F-150, F-250, F-350

Initial review: delivery only.
Everything
arrived exactly when promised and exactly as ordered. One of the interior boxes holding the trailer hitch failed and the main crossbar broke through the sidewall, but there was no noticeable damage. The exterior box held fast and contained everything just fine. The package of hardware was missing a single flat washer, but it was easily replaced from my personal stockpile.

Just being honest and thorough. No real problems, to be sure. The three-piece hitch bolted together without a--ahem--hitch. (Couldn't resist...) I sized it up to my truck frame, and when I get another helper, I'll finish the install. It's a two-man job for sure...don't want to get a "hitch" in my side...

Once installed, I'll take some photos and share my results of the completed job.

by:
Ford F-150

A little involved to install but that was because it was a 1992 ford f150. Required me to drill holes into the frame with carbide a drill. Use a smaller drill first then the larger one. Directions were clear. The hitch works great.

My installed trailer hitch

by:
Ford F-250 Super Duty

My first impression was that this hitch is very structurally sound, made with thick gauge tube and sheet metal. It's heavy enough that you'll want a second set of hands to get it fitted and installed. It assembled easily and fit my '66 F-250 styleside. My only real gripe is that the so-called powder coating chips off at the slightest contact with anything metal. It behaves more like really thick paint than a quality hammer-proof powder coating. I barely have it installed and already it looks well used. I hope the E-coat is more than a marketing gimmick and keeps the cross-tube from rusting out. Also made in Mexico FWIW.

I recently ordered a Class III Trailer Hitch for work.
I ordered the hitch late on Monday afternoon and the hitch arrived on Wednesday.
The order arrived quickly and the product was exactly what we were expecting.
Thank you etrailer for getting what we needed and quickly!

1993 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

Hitch was delivered on time. To my surprise, no drilling was necessary. It bolted right up. The unit is beefy and modular which made assembly a snap. Also, it came with ample hardened hardware, enough for whatever your preferred installation requires. Excellent buy, great quality. Strongly recommend it.

by:

Price was fair and received my hitch in a reasonable delivery time . I would use them again when needed .

by:
1966 Ford F-100, F-150, F-250, F-350

Good product, good price, and fast delivery. What more is there? Simple installation and no assistance was needed from etrailer.

by:

Product overall is good quality. The bolts connecting the cross bar are a tad to long not allowing a box wrench to complete the tighten down process.

1972 Ford F-100, F-150, F-250, F-350

Very fast delivery, I was surprised it got here so fast. Arrived in great shape, box wasn't damaged at all. Normally when I order something this heavy it arrives hanging out of the box.

Haven't installed it yet but it looks heavy duty and I expect to be satisfied.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 1964 Chevy C/K 20 4x4 and 2001 Ford F-350 Front Hitch
Although the Draw-Tite # 40050 is only for 1964 Chevy C/K 8 foot bed 2WD as you stated, there are other options available for your 4x4 truck. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" Item # 13028 which is a fit for your truck if you have a standard bumper. If you have a deep drop bumper, then I recommend the # C15511. • Trailer Hitch for a 1966 Chevy Impala
While there aren't any custom hitches that will bolt right up to your 1966 Chevy Impala we do have universal hitches that could work. The best option is going to be # 15903. This is a weld-on hitch so it will need to be installed by a professional welder. It will fit your 50 inch wide frame (it may even have to be trimmed shorter!). I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. We also have a similar hitch from Buyers, # 3371801051, which has shorter brackets.

I do have a trailer hitch option for a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 that will work on models with aftermarket roll pan bumper, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 40050. That said, the receiver tube will come out beneath the roll pan. There aren't any options for the receiver tube to come out behind the license plate. This would require a compete custom application.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 40050 will only fit your 1969 Chevrolet C10 if it has the standard rear bumper which I have attached a photo of for you. If you have a different rear bumper which it sounds like you do then you will want to use the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41504 instead. If you can send me a photo of your rear bumper I would be happy to confirm the correct fit for you as well that way.
