Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I used the cross tube to build my own custom hitch behind a hitch. This is a quality product and worked well for my custom build. Closest to my RV, in the main receiver, I carry my motorcycle. I used this to mount a bike rack behind the motorcycle carrier. For custom builds like this, the cross tube is a perfect product to build around. I mounted this to my support rails using grade 8 bolts, this way I can break it down easily and store it at camp or at home. The cross tube is quality steel and has good welds. Class V was more than I needed, but this was the best option for my project.

by:

I cut and installed this hitch on my 2002 E450 with bolts and welded as well. Very pleased with it.

by:

Bought this hitch for a custom application. WAY OVERKILL for what I needed but better to over engineer it than under. This baby is capable of towing 16000 lbs with a tongue weight of 1600 lbs. I will never tow more than the 5000 lbs my coach is rated for but I needed it to extend out and be a bit lower than the standard hitch to carry my KLR 650 on a rack which comes in at about 525 lbs.

by:

This worked perfectly for my school bus.

by:

Excellent product.

by:

Company was great with helping me find the right hitch for our church bus. We have been very pleased with the quality of the hitch! We pull a 12' loaded trailer to south Texas each year and the hitch performs great. Thanks for all your help!

Hitch is still working well! We have had no problems with it and the quality has been great!

by:

Extremely strong and heavy duty hitch

by:

Etrailer's part of this purchase was great. Shipped quickly and well packaged. The problem was with the manufacturer ... Draw-Tite. The hitch is great except for one thing ... the stickers look like a drunk slapped them on. It may sound trivial ... but I have spent countless hours building a custom expedition vehicle I am proud of. I now have to remove them because they look like crap.

Your expedition vehicle sounds awesome! There is one sticker on the hitch that lists the towing and tongue weight capacities. If possible, I recommend leaving that sticker attached for safety reasons.

by:

Exactly what I wanted, heavy duty

by:

The product was in stock, delivered in a timely manner, and exactly as advertised. E-Trailer even upgraded the delivery at no extra charge. The hitch has a Made in Mexico sticker. The welds look good; much better than welds on most Chinese import goods. Very pleased.

by:

Heavy duty, perfect

by:

Product is great, shipping was as expected with a winter storm impacting it. Product arrived hanging outside the box with one end filled with mud from being dropped by the delivery man. Typical for the shippers in this area but the packaging for this heavy of an item could have been better. This is the reason for 4 and not 5 stars. Product deserves 5 stars, shipping probably 2.

by:

This weld-on receiver was the perfect choice for adding a receiver to our tandem dump truck. I couldn't be happier!

by:

Very good product easy installation and prompt shipping. I highly recommend.

by:

Great product. But even better Sevice from etrailer as usual. Always a great buying experience.

  • Width of Ultra Frame Weld On Class IV Hitch Receiver
I called the manufacturer and part # 41990, will accommodate up to a 44 inch frame. We also have part # 41990-07 and 41990-16 which are both 44 inches wide with different size mounting brackets if these would fit your application.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for Ford E-450 Box Truck
I do have an option for you though there aren't custom fit hitches for box trucks. The frame is not really the issue but rather the body the up-fitter adds on which could hang down below the frame where the hitch mounts or actually use the holes in the frame for the hitch. Therefore, you will either need to drill or weld on one like the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41990-16 or part # 41990-07.

The best option I have for you to add a trailer hitch to your shuttle bus is with the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41990-16 which has the Class V rating that you are after. In regards to installation, this will be up to you as it is a universal trailer hitch and there is not a custom fit one available for your application. If you are planning on having a crossmember welded to the frame of your trailer you would be best off just having the part # 41990 welded to the frame as that has the hitch opening already welded to it. Or we have the part # 41990-07 which has the hitch attached to drop brackets.

We have a couple of options that will provide you with a trailer hitch for your 1973 Penn Versatile Van, but they will need to be welded or bolted to the frame as there are not any custom fit hitches for your vehicle. For a hitch with a bit of a drop, you could use the Draw-Tite Class IV Weld-On 44 Inch Wide Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch with 7 Inch Bracket # 41990-07. This hitch is also available with 16 inch brackets, part # 41990-16. The Ultra Frame hitch is designed for service-body and...

  • Why Is The Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Cross Tube # 41990 Not Rated For Weight Distribution?
Since the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Cross Tube # 41990 is a universal part and not vehicle specific it is impossible to rate the amount of torsional force the tube would be capable of supporting without mounts. And as this is generally used on vehicles with much stronger rear suspension components than passenger vehicles they do not generally call for a weight distribution hitch to reduce rear sag.

  • What is the Towing Capacity of a Mitsubishi Fuso FE160
Your Fuso FE160 has a tow rating and whatever that tow rating happens to be is what the capacity is no matter what the hitch is rated for. So for example if the Fuso is rated for 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight then you would be limited to that even though hitch # 41990 is rated higher. The opposite is also true; if the hitch is rated for 16,000 pounds but the vehicle is rated for 20,000 pounds you are limited to 16,000 pounds because it is the lower rated component. From what I...

With the part # 41990 we do not have any zero drop brackets to use when installing it. Due to the universal nature of this cross tube though you could pretty take it to a qualified fab shop and have them fabricate a way to mount it to your trailer in the location you want.

There is nothing wrong with using the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41990-07 with 7" tall mounting brackets or # 41990-16 with 16" tall mounting brackets as a front mount trailer hitch receiver for your 1989 GMC P30 Step Van. You are correct that may need to do some modifications to get the hitch to fit, but as long as your frame is not wider than 44" this should not be a problem. • How To Upgrade the Trailer Hitch On a Class C Thor Motorhome
In order to replace the trailer hitch on a motorhome you will need to go with a universal hitch as they do not offer bolt-on options for this. I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41990-07 or part # 41990-16 which can be bolted/welded to the trailer frame rails. • 1993 Chevrolet P30 Trailer Hitch Option
For an RV application the # 41990-16 is an option as this is a great multi-fit hitch typically used for service body trucks. Since we know that the P30 chassis has 34 inches between the frame rails this hitch should fit just fine since it has 16 inch drop brackets that can weld anywhere on the 44 inch wide crossbeam of the hitch. If you needed a hitch with less drop in the mounting brackets the part # 41990-07 has a bracket height of 7 inches instead.

I do have an option for you, but there is not a custom fit trailer hitch receiver option for your 1991 International 4700 with a low profile chassis. Based on the picture you provided your truck appears to be pretty low to the ground and the 16" tall brackets the Draw-Tite Universal Hitch # 41990-16 has would more than likely put the hitch too low.
