the hitch receiver was a custom fit for the equinox.
Why doesn't the tube extend the 2" or 3". You have to use the extender to use a simple bike rack
The video with step-by-step instructions worked out perfectly with no hiccups everything was as described in the description before purchase and installing the hitch and wiring harness was very easy and done in a timely manner highly recommended!
After reading instructions and watching the video it took about 1hour to install the hitch and trailer hitch

Easy to install but it did take two people because it was to heavy for one person.

My hitch arrived within a few days of placing order. Was very easy to install. Watched a very good YouTube video on the install. This is on a 2019 Equinox. The hitch is a bit lower than the one I had on a 2017 Equinox, but works with my bicycle rack fine.

etrailer ROCKS! They have great products at an even better price, a super website and fast shipping. I purchased my previous hitch from them and knew not to bother looking anywhere else. Being a visual learner I LOVE their video tutorials. The hitch and wiring harness were easy to install, though it always seems to take me longer than their estimate given I am not using air tools, etc.
I ordered and installed the 1 1/4 inch trailer hitch on my 2018 Equnox mainly to tow my 16 ft. Bass boat. I did this because I have had several cars in the past and have always used a 1 1/4 inch hitch and have never had any trouble. All of my inserts are 1 1/4 inch. Now I am reading all the specs for the hitch I installed and find that it is barely heavy enough to fit my towing needs. For the same price I could have installed a 2 inch hitch and not had the light towing restrictions. My only option is to purchase and install the heavier hitch and try to resell my present one.
Trailer hitch was just what I needed. This is the second hitch purchased from etrailer. The first one I installed. This one I had a mechanic install as I had health issues. It works well with my bike rack. The kit was complete and easy to install. Best done with a helper to hold it in place while you get the bolts started.
I bought this hitch for a new vehicle to use with a bike rack I already owned. I bought that from you, also. When the hitch was delivered I called because the box was open. Someone stayed on the line with me while I checked to make sure nothing was missing. Great service. When my friends asked where I got my bike rack and hitch, I always tell them trailer.
The tow package arrived in a timely manner and in good condition. Installation went well thanks to the videos the company provided. The only issue I had was that the muffler rattled against the hitch no matter what I did. I rechecked my installation and followed suggestions from the retailer. I ended up using a universal muffler hanger that allowed me to lower the exhaust 1/2". This solved the problem, and the hitch has performed well over the last year and still looks great. I have bought from this company before and will buy from them again in the future.
This is a very solid trailer hitch. It fit my 2018 Equinox perfectly and it was easy to install. It only took about 45 minutes to do the complete job and its hidden profile easily keeps the receiver away from obstructions. After one year, it's still in prime condition.
Easy installed and I’ve not had a problem out of it yet. I pull a trailer a lot and I questioned it but with the price it was worth a shot and it turned out great. I had to get a insert to get it away from my number it was to close for my likening.
Shipping was quick and the package arrived in good condition. Installation took approximately 45 minutes. The directions were easy to follow, I used the youtube videos as a backup as well, only because this was my first hitch installation. I would absolutely purchase from this company again.
I recently purchased a new car which did not include a hitch. When I called to place the order the sales person was extremely helpful in guiding me to the exact one I needed. I am using the hitch to carry a bike rack. The hitch is excellent quality and easy to install. I was happy to see the hardware included hole wires which is an important part of the installation. The instructions are also very thorough. I would not hesitate to order from etrailer again, or to recommend it to a friend.
Shipping was fast, product fitup great, but it looked used or slid around during or before shipping. Powder coating flaked off, and weld beads were very poor.

The design of the draw-tite hitch part 36642 is a bit recessed under the vehicle. An extender will cut your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. If you do not want to cut your tongue weight the best solution is to get a bike rack with a longer shank. The Thule hitching post pro is designed with 13-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole and the closest part of the carrier. This will give you enough clearance to use it on your GMC Terrain without an extender.
