This combo is built for serious towing. The Convert-A-Ball PH4 handles up to 10,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 1,000 lbs tongue weight. Whether you’re pulling utility trailers or equipment haulers, the strength of its steel shank and stainless-steel hitch balls gives you dependable performance every time you hitch up.
Towing different trailers doesn’t have to mean swapping mounts. The built-in pintle hook converts quickly and easily from a standard ball mount to a pintle setup—no tools needed. Just slip the stainless pintle sleeve over the 1" ball shank when you’re using a lunette ring, or remove it and pop on one of the included hitch balls when you need a regular coupler.
You get 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" stainless-steel hitch balls in the box, so you’re set for multiple trailer coupler sizes. Each ball locks securely onto the shank using Convert-A-Ball’s integrated pin system—simple, solid, and quick to change out. The smaller 1-7/8" ball handles up to 3,500 lbs, while the 2" and 2-5/16" sizes both rate at 10,000 lbs.
When towing with a lunette ring, the PH4’s double-engagement locking system secures the connection for a strong, reliable hold. The handle locks automatically onto the pintle sleeve and backs it up with a manual safety pin for extra peace of mind. It’s certified to V-5 by the Trailer Hitch Manufacturers Association and meets SAE J-847 performance standards, so you can count on it to stay locked in and steady on every trip.
The PH4 combines stainless components with a black powder-coated steel base plate for lasting durability. The finish resists rust and road wear, keeping your setup looking clean and towing smooth season after season.

Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, well be test fitting Covert-A-Ball Cushioned weight distribution shank for 2-inch hitches part number AMAC1. This weight distribution shank helps to eliminate the push and pull feeling and clank often experienced when towing heavy trailers. The multiple attachment holes allow you to level your weight distribution head. This shank rated at 10,000lbs. This shank is also compatible with Convert-A-Ball accessories including the Pintle Hook combo with balls part number PH4, the ball mount adapter part number BA1 and the Clevis pin adapter part number CA1. The accessories attached with a 5/8-inch hitch pin.
Now to begin the installation, well need to get the hitch height. To do this, well measure from the ground to the top of the receiver tube opening. In this case, its 18 inches. Now this measurement can vary to the tire size, style of hitch or any other accessories that maybe on the truck. So its a good idea to go ahead and measure yours.
Now the shank can be used in both the drop and rise positions. In the drop position, the bottom of the mount sits 9 inches from the ground. When using the ball mount adapter, part number BA1, the ball will sit at 10 inches from the ground. When used in the rise position, its maximum rise is 23 inches from the ground. Now keep in mind, this is using a hitch that is 18 inches from the top of the receiver tube to the ground.
Now the adapter heights can be changed by 1 inches depending on which holes you use on the ball mount. That does it for the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned weight distribution shank for 2-inch hitches part number AMAC1 in conjunction with the Convert-A-Ball ball mount adapter part number BA1 on our 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. .
