Today, we're going to be taking a look at Carr's line of their Hoop II Step. These are custom-fit for your vehicle, so you want to make sure you use our fit guide to get the correct one for your particular vehicle. They're available in either a black or silver powder-coat finish or with a polished aluminum finish. These are available in either a two-pack like we've got installed today, with one on each side, or you can get it as just a quantity of one if maybe say, it's just your work truck and you just need one for you so you can get in and out.Having a step on your trucks is going to have many benefits. It's not only going to make it easier to get in and out, but over the life of your truck, as you're constantly using it and getting in and out a lot, it's going to help reduce the fatigue that you're going to get, especially on your joints and knees. So it can definitely save you in the long run, because if you're stepping all the way up here every time, and you're really bending it, you're just putting a lot of effort on your joints and muscles getting in, this can really wear you down over a long day.
Why don't you make things easier on yourself and just make it a lot less work to get in and out Your body is going to pay in the long run if you're constantly working it harder than you should. Our step surface has a studded surface. It's cast right into the aluminum, and you can really feel the grooves in there. They're going to dig into the soles of your shoes, ensuring you get traction when getting in and out so we can minimize the amount of accidents that can occur. And on your rainy, muddy days or snowy time of the year, it's going to help save you as you're getting in and out, so you don't have to worry about any slips or twisted ankles. And if you do have a bunch of muck on your shoes, you don't want to track that inside your vehicle.
With its nice textured surface, you can just scrape your shoes right off on it. It's not going to cause any damage to it. And when you get home, you can just hit it with a hose and it's back to clean once again. If you have any roof-mounted accessories or a ladder rack, maybe with a cantilever that goes over the roof of your vehicle, it can also make it a lot easier to load and unload any items off of that, get the things you need. You can also get another set for the rear passengers to make things easier for them as well, getting in and out. It also makes it easier to get up on the roof here.
And it also works as a great step, if you've got one here in the back to help you get into the bed.Our step surface is plenty wide. I wear a size 13 shoe and you can see how that would fit here on our step. It does have a length of seven inches with a depth of three and a half inches, and drops down five inches to make it easier to get in. And with its 500-pound weight capacity, it's going to be great for all of your passengers. No one's going to be excluded on this one.
And it's also going to help out with that extra weight, if you're lifting anything heavy up onto your roof accessories, you could easily put those on there and not have to worry about overloading and breaking your step. Now, if you're in the market for a step to get into your truck, you've probably been looking at a few different options out there. One of the biggest options is tube steps that run down the side of your truck. This is going to be a much smaller footprint than your tube steps are. As you can see, it's considerably smaller. Your tube steps normally run from the entire length of your truck here, from the front of your door to the back of the door there. And that's great if you have a of passengers that's often riding with you because each one's got their own step when you get that kit. But with this one, you've got more options because if it's just normally just maybe two passengers, you could do one on each side, and if you happen to have more people that ride with you, maybe you add an addition to your family down the road, you can always add another set. These are usually a more cost-effective option than your tube steps are. And one of the things that I really like about these is that they're constructed of a cast aluminum, so you don't have to worry about it rusting out over time. A lot of tube steps out there, you've probably seen a bunch going down the road. 5, 10 years down the line, they've got some water in them, they're starting to rust out. You don't ever have to worry about that with the cast aluminum.Pretty much have just a set position they go in. They have some minor adjustments, so you can fine-tune their final positioning. But this one here can fold. The bolts that go in it through here, you can take those bolts out and you can pull up or down to change the positioning of your step, and then you can reinsert that bolt. This is nice if maybe you want to fold the step up.If you find that you need the extra clearance, maybe you're going to do some off-roading and you don't want that step hanging down, you could reposition it and put it up. And you could easily take these off, unlike tube steps. It's a pretty big job to get back under there and take that hardware out. And some of that hardware, the way it's fed in, can be very difficult to get it back out without accidentally dropping it inside of the channels of your frame, and then it's lost. With these here, it's extremely easy. Just two bolts, take it out on each leg, and this guy's going to come off of there, and then you can go out in the fields and run off the road to your heart's content. And that completes our look at Carr's line of their Hoop II Step.

Get into and out of your vehicle with ease by using these sturdy, durable steps. Multi-mount system ensures a precise, stable fit. Wide, flat, non-slip surfaces provide sure footing, and the polished finish offers a hint of style. My order arrived in less than a week and it took about a hour or so to install. Instructions were clear and easy for most any fitment. For my Chevy it could not have been any easier. This truck is for my daughter who has spina bifada so it enables her to climb in easier. The steps look great and I'd highly recommend them and etrailer. I've used etrailer a few times now and will continue as they have quality parts at some of the best prices!
Simple ordering precise & quick. Nice Email response from etrailer. Easy instructions right out of the box & on to the truck. Easy in & easy out of the vehicle, nice & sturdy you cannot go wrong with a reputable name to back it up. I am a satisfied consumer.
why are they called Nerf bars? none of my other Nerf stuff looks like that.....

Haha, they definitely do not look like the nerf bullets left all over the house. To be clear, the steps are not considered a "nerf bar" or "running board" however we lump them into the same category since they provide a step on the side of a vehicle.
Great product for the price. Fit nicely on my '99 Expedition. Pretty painless installation. Great functionality.
It looks just as I expected, and it seems to be easy to install. I have not installed it yet, so this is a best guess. In any case, I think it will do what I wanted and the cost makes it a best way to add a step. I didn't realize I would need to drill holes but that should be no problem.
Twas an easy install using normal tools, drill, wrenches, etc. The item looks good and does the job very well!!
Great fit. Still look good. Hardware could be a bit more durable. Zinc plating only lasts a couple months. I replaced with stainless. Good stuff though!!!
I cannot believe how fast it got here. I am so happy with them and they are going to look amazing on my truck.
Installed 5 months ago and so far so go od!
Great company to work with. Fast delivery, quality product. Thank you.
Easy to install,looks great!
It's a nice install and nice-looking product.
You always deliver a quality product fast.
I bought these Carr steps to dress up my 2019 Ram 2500. I’m going for the ‘utilitarian minimalist chic’ look and these nailed it far better than the factory running boards.
What I liked -
- Heavy duty- steps and hardware feel substantial
- Mounting kit made specifically for my truck
- Straightforward instructions
- Super solid and stable
- Look far better than nerf bar steps
- Brackets came slightly expanded which made fitment easier. They bent in to a tight fit once the bolts were torqued down
What I have mixed opinions on -
- I had a tough time getting just the right fit, as the lip on the truck isn’t that big, perhaps 3/4”. Some holes I drilled using the “hold up the bracket and mark with a sharpie” method were too low, leaving not quite enough material beneath the hole. Other holes that were a little on the high side made for a tough fit of the bracket. So be patient, measure twice, drill once
- There was a whole bunch of extra hardware! Sort it all out on the counter beforehand to see which jives with the instructions and set the others aside
- Had some bad washers in the hardware kit
I purchased "Carr" steps for our "new" 1989 Ford F150. The hardware supplied with the steps was excellent compared to some imported products. There were good instructions and everything fit. This will help by spouse get in and out safely and with a bit more dignity.
Originally ordered these as a replacement for the front. Did not check size before ordering.
Decided to put them under the rear doors instead.
Since I already had them on the front and was able to see how they were mounted, it made the install was a piece of cake.
The instructions were clearly understood for my Silverado and only took me about 15 minutes per side to install.
I have since ordered the larger pair for the front and will use the same brackets to replace.
Only gripe is the finish on the ones that were originally on the truck (8 years old) has chipped off due to mag chloride on the road and frozen ice being knocked off.
Since I was not the original purchaser, I cannot claim warranty issues as they are guaranteed for life.
Hopefully with the new ones Carr perfected their coating, we will find out in another 8 years!
These were a perfect choice for our 2016 Winnebago Travato 59G. Not a lots of skill required and they look great. Very nice product. Thank you for the fast service.
Great product but I couldn’t use your directions because I mounted it on my Ford 8n tractor. In fact I only used the four bolts that connect mounting brackets to step. I cut two pieces of flat stock welded it on frame and drilled 2 1/4” holes 2 on each mount and viola the job is finished and now my wife can get one and off tractor with ease. Great product and it was the only one I found that fitted my needs for mounting flat on top of stock and stair is adjustable. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality piece at a great price. Thank you etrailer for creating this outstanding step.
Awesome customer service. Answered all of my questions to help me get an account setup and to get the correct part.
It fit well and does what it is intended to do. Was easy to install...after the holes were drilled. If you would like more adjustability to where the step can be located, I'd recommend a longer step. On a 2024 2500HD Sierra crew cab, the frame cross member allows for only one attachment point (+/- maybe 1/2") for the front step. It would have been nice if solid carbide drill bits were included instead of twice as much hardware as I needed (each step came with enough nuts/bolts for 2 steps). Cobalt and Titanium bits worked, but took a while and I could only get about 2 holes drilled before bit was shot. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.
it went together easy have an issue with 2 of the bolts will not tighten up like it ran out of threads just spins went to parts house and replaced but that is the only negative
It helps me to climb into my truck, with adding an extra step. Very happy with it.
Still very happy with the steps. Instructions were useful and the product has held up well. It doesn't have a lift kit or muddier tires, but my old F250 is still pretty tall. The steps make entry and exit much easier for and old guy and his short wife.
