Get a brake controller in your truck that looks like it's supposed to be there. This sleek knob blends right into your dash and makes your settings simple and convenient to adjust.
Features:
Specs:
Note: The main unit must be mounted horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees.
Power output: To get more power output - the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes - rotate the knob clockwise. To decrease the power output, rotate it counterclockwise.
Manual override: To engage manual override, simply press the knob. This will activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights independent of your tow vehicle, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in an emergency. The Voyager iD will reach the maximum set power in half a second.
The Voyager comes in 2 pieces: the main unit and the control knob.
The control knob can be installed in any convenient spot that's easy for you to see and access. This can be a blank switch panel, an open spot on your center console, or wherever there's space on your dashboard. Before you do any drilling, be sure there's enough clearance behind the dash for the entire knob to install!
Once you've decided where you want to put the control knob, you'll need to find a good place to install the main unit. It needs to be horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees. A mounting kit with hardware is included.
This kit comes with a vehicle-specific wiring harness that plugs right into the factory port beneath the dash of your vehicle. That means no hardwiring!
You will also need a circuit breaker kit to complete your installation:
Note: If you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7- and 4-way brake-control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately).
Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.
The Voyager iD uses an internal inertia sensor to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to slow at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

Today with this 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, we're going to be installing the Tekonsha P3 brake controller, part number 90195 and the custom fit brake control harness for this vehicle, part number 3023-P. The first thing we need to do is set our mounting bracket for our controller. Pick a suitable location that won't be in the way of the driver's knees, but will allow easy access to the manual override switch on the bottom of the controller. Once you've found a location for the bracket, make sure that there are no electrical components behind it before you secure it with the included screws. With our controller in place, we'll move on to the brake control harness. The next thing we need to do is find the electrical connections up underneath the dash of our Ram pickup. The first connection we need to make is the large square connector on the harness.
This connection will provide our ground, brake controller output, and our power. This connector on our vehicle is located directly above the gas pedal on the inside of the dash, just on the other side of the plastic about where your knee would be. You may also find this connector in the old location like where you used to in the 2012 and previous models and that's located up above the emergency brake pedal equipment. Well make this connection and then we'll move on to the brake signal connection. That's the single red wire with the small square connector.
If we go up directly above the brake pedal, we'll find this connector taped to a wire harness up high underneath the dash. We'll make this connection and all of our connections under the dash will be complete. Now there's a bit of access wire on the red connector. What we'll do is take a couple of zip-ties to secure it up and out of the way so we don't get it tangled in our feet or any of the pedals. We'll use a zip-tie here and another zip-tie here to secure the access and keep it out of the way.Now we'll take the black four-pin rectangular connector and fit it into the back of our prodigy break controller.
Once we make the connection to our brake control, we'll take any access left on the harness, coil it together and zip-tie it out of the way. That's it for our install of the Tekonsha P3 brake controller, part number 90195 with the custom fit harness, part number 3023-P, on our 2013 Dodge Ram 1500.
Easy install simple setup
Everything worked as it should! Very happy with the look as well
The install was pretty simple. It took some time to modify the knock out plug to conceal the adjustment knob but after a bit of work it fit nicely and looks like it’s supposed to be there. I missed a photo of the final mont of the control unit but I was able to install the supplied clip for the module just above the airbag. There is a clip that holds the wire for the computer input so I removed it for extra space and secured the wire with a zip tie.
Easy install. I used the cable harness that came with my 22 Silverado. Hardest part was just locating a place on the dash for the knob and access from behind for the 2 inches or so length of the switch assembly. Small and looks good on the dash.
I chose this Tekonsha Voyager ID for installation in my Audi SQ7 ecause Tekonsha has a great reputation for brake controllers when used with Airstreams. The brakes are easy to dial in and once you get it, the control at both high and low speed is perfect. A Redarc controller I used on a previous tow vehicle struggled to find a good balance. Tekonsha has this nailed. I love that I don’t have to mount a box beneath the dash and that the control is easy to reach, not ever in my way and easy to adjust. Perfect!
I wanted it to look like it belonged. Took a bit of fabrication but I think it turned out pretty good. 2010 Cadillac Escalade EXT
Had to file the bracket down to get it to slide in to the unit. Was able to get the control knob to fit into the dash in the removable card holder. 2022 Chevy, Colorado Z 71.
Was easy(ish) to install in me 2015 Jeep Wrangle Unlimited. Placed the main unit behind the glove compartment using the supplied bracket and the dash knob down near the passenger footwell. There isn't enough length of wire to get the knob to the driver's side in this configuration, but putting the main unit on that side while remaining hidden is a major pain, especially with the upgraded sound system. Used it a few times already, and the adjustability is excellent, it goes from almost imperceptible to locking up the brakes at maximum pretty quickly on the same road. It will serve you well no matter what trailer you are using.
Super easy installation following my viewing the video provided by etrailer!
I'm ready to haul that new boat!!
I plugged it in, just as described on a YouTube video, and all seems perfect. There were no specific instructions in the package for my application (2013 Ram 1500). In defense however, the connectors are not interchangeable so there was really no way to connect it wrong. Plenty of extra length wire to work with.
The worst part was getting under the dash!
came with everything needed to install, liked the sleek one button control.
Very easy plug and play ,worked great.i have it in a ram and my suburban ....with same brake controllers in both.no cut wiring, perfect length...super easy install.
Easy to install and it works great.
Great customer support during the ordering and installation process. Installation was on a 2014 Ram 1500 using an existing controller.
With the purchase of a new Dodge Ram 1500, I had a difficult time finding a wiring harness that adapts to the new Dodge wiring. I found this great plug in adapter on Etrailer.com and ordered it and a new Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller. Etrailer shipped my order quickly. Before I installed the wiring harness and brake controller, I watched the video on Etrailer; very helpful! Installation was easy! I'll definitely use Etrailer again when I need something for our travel trailer towing.
I was very happy with the Tekonsha Custom Wiring adapter I ordered through etrailer. It was good to have the perfect fit for my 2014 Dodge truck. There was no other brake controller in place for reference but the adapter made it easy and it connected to the factory wiring, just as the instructions described. I received quick follow up from etrailer to see if there was any issues. The part arrived promptly and again, was just what I needed. Thanks for the great service and efficiency.
Plugged directly into my 2014 (Dodge) RAM Tradesman wiring and was easy to set up! I was not happy about having to add the 30235-P Brake Control Converter and 7-Way Adapter Kit required due to California law but did so. This greatly increased the work required, and expense, to complete the install. After having completing it however, the P3 worked great and was easy to set up. I never laid hands on the "manual" brake control lever so, the extra 7-way adapter proved to be superfluous.
I bought a Prodigy 2 electric brake controller and cable adapter for my pickup. I read the literature provided and watched the video on the website on how to install it. From the time I opened the box to do the installation until I shut the door on a completed installation was less than 30 minutes. Very satisfied with the product, installation instructions, and fast shipping. etrailer should be everyones first stop for trailer products.
A simple install. The online videos provided by etrailer.com are fantastic. I use them at work a lot and I finally had a job at home where I could buy the parts from etrailer.com and repay them a little! I installed a controller on a 2013 Dodge 1500. The dash panel just above the park brake release pops out and makes a perfect hole for mounting the controller.
Very easy to hook up took about 5 mins I hadn't hooked up to a trailer yet but I will shortly
Controller works fantastic on electric brakes on flat bed as well as Electric Hydraulic hybrid brake system on Airstream trailer. Good product and direct plug and play on 2013 Dodge 2500. I had to unplug the factory trailer brake system but this one took its place.
The Tekonsha plug in wiring harness adapter worked perfectly and took about 3 minutes to install, great product. It let me use the Brake Controller from my previous truck instead of having to buy a complete new unit.
