Get a brake controller in your truck that looks like it's supposed to be there. This sleek knob blends right into your dash and makes your settings simple and convenient to adjust.
Features:
Specs:
Note: The main unit must be mounted horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees.
Power output: To get more power output - the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes - rotate the knob clockwise. To decrease the power output, rotate it counterclockwise.
Manual override: To engage manual override, simply press the knob. This will activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights independent of your tow vehicle, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in an emergency. The Voyager iD will reach the maximum set power in half a second.
The Voyager comes in 2 pieces: the main unit and the control knob.
The control knob can be installed in any convenient spot that's easy for you to see and access. This can be a blank switch panel, an open spot on your center console, or wherever there's space on your dashboard. Before you do any drilling, be sure there's enough clearance behind the dash for the entire knob to install!
Once you've decided where you want to put the control knob, you'll need to find a good place to install the main unit. It needs to be horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees. A mounting kit with hardware is included.
This kit comes with a vehicle-specific wiring harness that plugs right into the factory port beneath the dash of your vehicle. That means no hardwiring!
You will also need a circuit breaker kit to complete your installation:
Note: If you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7- and 4-way brake-control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately).
Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.
The Voyager iD uses an internal inertia sensor to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to slow at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for trailer brake controllers. This plug-in wiring adapter allows for quick, simple installation of your electric trailer brake controller. There's no cutting or splicing required. You have the custom connector end that plugs into the built-in port beneath the dash of your vehicle. The other end plugs into the back of your electric brake controller. This is compatible with time-delayed and proportional brake controllers from TrailerMate, Draw-Tite, and Tekonsha.Just keep in mind that your brake controller must have a built-in plug for the adapter to connect.
This will not work on controllers with pigtail wiring harnesses. The wires also have a really nice mesh jacket that goes around them. It keeps your wires protected and it keeps them grouped together. Then the white wire here that's kind of by itself, has a ring terminal attached to the end of it. This is going to be your ground wire.
That's going to do it for today's look at the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for trailer brake controllers.
Easy install. I used the cable harness that came with my 22 Silverado. Hardest part was just locating a place on the dash for the knob and access from behind for the 2 inches or so length of the switch assembly. Small and looks good on the dash.
I wanted it to look like it belonged. Took a bit of fabrication but I think it turned out pretty good. 2010 Cadillac Escalade EXT
came with everything needed to install, liked the sleek one button control.
Get this cable for a simple, plug-in installation. You’ll spend more time hunting for the junction already wired into the truck harness than installing your brake controller. And after installed, no worries on loosening wire connections or electrical tape wrap unraveling.
The cable fits the desired application on my 2018 Tacoma. A couple of inches longer would have been nice - it was barely long enough for where I mounted the controller. The location shown in the pic was the only location that didn't get in the way of of knees, feet or air bags. By the way, the other item in the cubby is my ham radio faceplate.
Everything came in the package and the product came earlier than I expected. Installing it was fairly easy. However the only thing that proved difficult was Torquing the ball down on the hitch head which luckily [RV dealer] was good enough to do that for me. I am happy With the product and looking forward to using it.
The wiring adapter made the project so easy ! Install was a breeze.
I bought this harness for my Toyota Tacoma 2018 because I installed breack controller Primius IQ and fit very Good. I’m so glad with the product, and etrailer is really fast to delivery.
Easy installation. This unit is the best controller I have ever had. I utilized my existing inset compartment and just cut off the back of the compartment til I had about 2” remaining from the front flange to minimize the amount of space around the P3 controller when installed to have a better appearance.
My Tekonsha P2 & wiring kit 3031-P for my 2017 Tundra Crew Cab arrived timely and installation was SUPER EASY. Connected my 27 foot trailer the same day to test it. Works awesome. Disappointed in Toyota for having a poor Brake Control System, but thankful Tekonsha was able to pick up the slack.
Wiring harness 3031-P on a 2015 Toyota Tundra, doesn't get any easier. I have cut and spliced several brake controller over the years. This is a lot cleaner and very easy.
Day after I ordered this part I was contacted by the company to say that the part wouldn't be shipped for several weeks and they worked to get me a replacement solution. This ultimately did not work out but their customer care was something that has become a rare thing these days. I think the sales agent whose name I do not recall at the moment and a few days later got a notice that the original part I ordered was out for delivery. It arrived today I installed it in my vehicle and everything works perfectly. I would definitely do business with etrailer again for my RV needs. Thank you guys.
Installation facile
Et le site internet tres bien fait
C'est mon 2e achat toujours un bon service
Bravo
Quick and simple, plug and play. No fuss or worries about it being wrong if ordered from another online retailer.
Arrived on time. Worked as advertised. Competitive pricing
I used this to connect a brake controller, ITEM TK63VR, to the brake harness under the dashboard of my husband's 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR5. It worked excellently and was very easy to do because the ends just snap right into the harness and the little ground wire fits right under the grounding screw. eTrailer's instruction videos are great, thats why this ol' grammy was able to do it herself! Thank you etrailer! PS I just wish that it was a foot longer.
The wiring harness is exactly what most folks need for an under dash or dash mount. I found that it was more convenient to access the brake controller emergency handle and see the brake controller if I took your metal mounting bracket and turned it upside down and mounted the controller on the left hand side of the steering wheel on top of the dash with a magnet taped to the dash. This allow me to remove the controller and move it between my Tacoma and Ford F150 easily. But in order to do this you need a longer wiring adapter, so you either cut the original wiring harness and splice in longer wires or buy two harnesses and cut off one end of each and splice that together. Very happy with both the harnesses and the Tekonsha P3 brake controller.
I bought this adapter to prove that my factory brake controller was not functioning properly. I am now using my old Prodigy P2 controller I was using on my previous truck n trailer, bypassed the factory unit on my current truck. Needless to say, it worked perfectly. My factory controller would not engage the travel trailer brakes no matter how I adjusted it. The P2 works with electric and electro over hydraulic brake systems. My truck has a button to select. My problem is in electric mode. If I switched to elec over hyd, the brakes lock up. I am going to the dealer to have him check the factory control and hear what they have to say.
received it in great time Had no problem with the installation as it worked out well Pulled the kick panel off and there it was just plugged it in , was so easy , put it in the pocket hole on the dash just had to drill a hole in the back of the pocket and run the wire thur , works Great and so easy
thanks
etrailer information and delivery was great
to be honest I bought this harness to modify it. I needed the plug that goes into the OEM port on the truck so I would not have to T Tap power to run accessories I simply would tie in my switches to this port to use for what I want. I still have not completed the install.
Easy fit and install. The surprise was that the harness provides full time power to the brake controller. The controller (P3) shuts itself off after 15 minutes, but I would rather have this tied to the accessory power that goes off with the key. This may be because the factory harness only provides "always on" power, but I have not confirmed yet. I will likely modify this harness to grab switched power at some point in the future
Great product. Used with Tekonsha Prodigy P3. Installed on a 2017 Tacoma to tow our 2020 T@B 400 teardrop camper.
Not quite a year ago I purchased a new 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road. I believe all the Tacomas come stock with a trailering package, 2" receiver hitch and a wired standard flat 4 pin and 7 pin for those using electric trailer brakes. I had a Tekonsha brake controller installed and bought the wiring harness,Item #3031-P and it plugged directly into the factory wired harness provided by Toyota. A very straight forward easy installation in my case.
