  • Can I Use a 4 Way Vehicle Connector with 7 Way Adapter and the Curt Echo Brake Controller?
It sounds like you may already have a 4 way connector on your vehicle, which is half of the battle. In order to operate the Curt Echo Mobile Wireless Brake Controller # C51180 you will need an almost fully functional 7 way connector; using something like the Hopkins # 37185 adapter from the answer you were looking at would work, but it doesn't come with all of the wiring you'll need so I don't recommend using that and you will need to run a power wire to your battery (not included). Instead,...

  • Installing 7-way Blade Trailer Connector on 2013 Toyota Highlander
To wire your 2013 Highlander with a 7-way and 4 pole connector, you'd first need a functional 4-pole trailer connector. If your Highlander doesn't already have one, you can install it using part # 118449. With the 4-pole in place, there's two different alternatives, depending on if your trailer with the 7-way has brakes. If it does NOT, you can use the Hopkins # 37185 (same as the 47185 you mentioned). The 37185 would plug directly into the 4-pole, with 4 remaining wires. The white wire...

  • Installing a 7-Way Connector at the Rear of a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 4-Pole Connector
To get a functioning 7-Way at the rear of your 5th wheel trailer that has a 4-Pole you will want to install the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 which can be mounted to your bumper using the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18140. To get the 12V Power and Brake Controller signal from your Chevy Duramax you will then need to run Jacketed 2 Wire (Brake Wire) # 12-2-1 up to the 7-Way on your Duramax and splice it in. If Butt Connectors are needed use part # DW05745-5. If the Auxiliary pin...

  • Wiring and Brake Controller Needed for 1996 Ford F-150 with 4-Way Flat
Hey John, thanks for reaching out! If the 4-Way on your 1996 Ford F-150 is from the factory then the only wire splicing you'll need to do is with the Adapter # 37185, which plugs into your 4-Way and then you'll connect the rest of the wires to the wire bundle at the back of your truck. Once that's connected all you'll do is plug in a pigtail adapter and your brake controller under the driver's side dash of your truck! If you don't already have the brake controller, then I recommend the...

  • Parts Needed to Install a 7-way Trailer Connector and Tow a Trailer with a 2009 Toyota Tacoma
Yes, you can install a 7-way trailer connector on your 2009 Toyota Tacoma. There's a couple of options depending on your trailer. First you're going to need to start with a 4-way flat connector like you've already found. I suggest the Curt # C55513 which plugs into your truck's wiring either behind the taillights or the rear bumper. Once you have the 4-way, if your trailer does not have brakes you can use an adapter, # 37185, to go from the 4-way to provide a 7-way. However, installing...

If you have a 4-pole wiring setup now and you want to install a wireless trailer brake controller you will use an adapter like Curt # C57672 or Hopkins # 37185. Both install by plugging in to your 4-pole and by making additional wiring connections using the pigtail leads. If you want to use a wireless smartphone-controlled brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180 you will not need to run a blue brake output wire. All you'll need to do is provide a 12V power connection to the adapter....

  • Is My 2016 Honda Pilot Trailer Wiring 7-way or Only 4-way?
Your 2016 Honda Pilot will have a trailer wiring plug behind the driver's side at the rear by your tail lights. I've attached a video of the Curt # C56291 harness to assist. The Curt wiring harness # CU86FR is the 7-way wiring harness that connects to the same location. Each kit activates the tow package already available in your vehicle, so I recommend installing the 7-way unless you know you will only ever use the 4-way. It is a little more work on the installation side but gives you...

  • Parts Needed To Install a 7-Way and Trailer Brake Controller On a 1996 Ford F-350 With Factory 4-Way
Since you already have a factory 4-way flat on your 1996 Ford F-350 you will need the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole # 37185. This will plug into your factory 4-way and the rest of the wiring will have to be spliced into your factory wiring as I do not see anyone makes wiring for your factory connectors. The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3035-P will allow you to plug into the 6 pin connector you found under the dash. Then you can connect the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.

  • Brake Controller Installation in 2019 Ford Ranger
We have not yet (as of April 2019) had a chance to install any wired trailer brake controllers on a 2019 Ford Ranger so for guidance I checked with my most trusted brake controller expert at Tekonsha. Based on what I could learn about the truck if the Ranger has a factory-installed 7-way it should have a standard brake controller connection port above and to the left of your left knee when seated; this will be near the kick panel. You will want to look for a connector that matches the...

  • Does Blue Wire on 37185 4-Pole to 7-Way Adapter Need to Be Connected When Using RF Brake Controller
I'm assuming you're speaking of the # 37185 4-pole to 7-way adapter. You won't need to attach that blue wire from the adapter to anything, just bundle it up out of the way. The Black wire needs to run to the vehicle battery, using some # 10-1-1 wire through a 40A circuit breaker like # 9510 and the white wire needs to be grounded to the vehicle frame or chassis and the 4-pole connector on the adapter needs to be plugged into the 4-pole adapter on the vehicle to access the taillight circuits.

For your 2002 Ford E250 you can use the # 3035-P to plug directly in to the factory brake controller plug. You will also need item # 37185 to complete your wiring. The 12 -volt power will allow interior or exterior lights to run that are not wired in to the trailer's tail and clearance lights. • 4-Way and 7-Way Recommendation for 2015 Toyota Sienna LE
Hey Brad, the Tekonsha 4-way kit part # 118648 is the correct fit and best option for your 2015 Toyota Sienna LE. Then for a 7-way adapter the part # C57672 that you referenced would be exactly what you'd want as well. Does the trailer have brakes? I noticed you also referenced the # 37185 7-way adapter which is also a really great option just like the Curt but it does look like it costs more so it wouldn't be what I would go with if I were you.

Hopkins part # HM47180 is a 4-pole-to-7-way wiring adapter that is equivalent to the similar # 37185. The only real functional difference between them is that on part # 37185 the 4-pole trailer connector is located to the side of the 7-way, rather than under it as with # HM47180. Both adapters plug in at an existing 4-pole vehicle connector and re-format those lighting signals to the 7-way configuration. • Can a 7-Way Trailer Wiring Kit Install on 2023 Kia Sportage
Hey Gord, so it is definitely possible to install a 7-way on your 2023 Kia Sportage and not have the electronics go crazy but the vehicle was not pre-wired for a 7-way so the install would require some hardwiring depending on what additional circuits you need active beyond just trailer taillights. Your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 is a generation of Dodge truck that uses a very bizzare trailer wiring setup. It has a TIPM which manages the trailer wiring. If it shorts out you can only reset it so many times (at a crazy price) until you have to just buy a new one. It's a God-awful setup if you ask me, but we do have a solution that allows you to bypass that if you are okay with a little bit of wiring. The best way around the TIPM is to bypass it all together with the trailer wiring. For that...
