When you need strength that lasts, this Dexter axle delivers with a 7,000-lb weight capacity and a 94" hub-face length. The 79" spring-center spacing is welded in place for dependable alignment, and the 3" round steel tubing gives it the backbone needed to carry serious weight mile after mile. The slight camber built into the beam keeps the tires flat on the road for even tread wear and steady straight-line tracking.
This axle comes with electric brake assemblies, hubs, and drums already installed so it’s ready to mount up and go. Electric brakes make stopping smoother without hydraulic lines or actuators to maintain. Each drum measures 12" x 2" and carries an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern with 1/2" wheel studs—perfect for standard 16" trailer wheels. Everything is built for a solid, balanced stop every time you hit the switch.
Getting heavy gear loaded should be easy. The underslung spring seats are welded to the underside of the axle so the trailer rides lower to the ground, making loading and unloading straightforward. That low stance also keeps the trailer stable on the highway and cuts down on sway when towing at speed.
Keeping bearings greased shouldn’t mean tearing everything apart. Each E-Z Lube spindle has a built-in zerk fitting—just pop the rubber plug on the hub cap and pump in new grease. It flows through the spindle to both bearings and pushes out the old grease, saving time and mess while keeping everything turning smoothly.
This axle includes cast-iron hubs and drums, bearings, races, seals, wheel studs, lug nuts, and even marine-grade grease, all backed by a limited 5-year warranty. This axle was exactly what I needed. There was originally a mistake in fulfillment as the axle I received did not match my order. Once the correct axle came I had no problems with installation.
I purchased an axle from a farm store and it was cheap and cheap. This Dexter axle is American made and trailer makes it easy by delivering it to your door and providing step by step videos for installation! I ordered these August 1st and they just arrived 4 1/2 months later. I don't blame Etrailer for that. It's just the way things were with supply since then. Etrailer kept me updated as things changed. Since I live in Maine and will have to install them outside I won't be doing it until spring. I have checked everything over though and the quality looks excellent. I have never had any problem with anything from Etrailer. This package deal was at a great price and includes everything except the U bolt mounting kit which I bought separately.
Been using this for a year. No problems installing or using it so far. Brakes work well, everything seems to be holding up perfectly.
Packaged well, delivery ahead of time, deducted one start as I expected the axles to be assembled with brakes bearings etc all complete not packaged separately adding hours to my initial estimate.

I purchased two of these to replace my old obsolete axles on my Jayco fifth wheel. They are a half inch wider than the factory axles and fit great. Delivery was on time and etrailer was great about everything from start to finish. The axles have been on my fifth wheel a year now and I am very pleased. I will definitely look to etrailer again if the event arises that I need anything axle related.

The whole staff is top notch at etrailer, and easy to get ahold on the phone. Dexter is a quality product and etrailer offers it at a fair price. The only negative I can share is the plastic plugs they ship in the hubs folded the excluder lip backwards on the inboard hub seal. It took a little bit of working by hand to fix it. It's a blind install so can't see if it went on right. Would be nice to see a better plug used there or maybe just a piece of tape over it. That's on dexter though, not etrailer.
I purchased these axles and brakes to replace the old axles on my car hauler. Everything went smoothly with this order. I received my axle and hubs much faster than I anticipated. The parts were well packaged and everything is exactly as I ordered it. I had never installed hubs on trailer axles but after watching one of etrailer's instructional videos I had both sides of the idler axle done in less than 30 minutes. I had similar results on the axle that I put electric brakes on as well. Dexter axles with the EZ-Lube spindles are well worth the money. Bottom line I couldn't be happier with the products and service.
Great high quality axles! I installed two of these on a boat trailer with one brake and one idler hub. It was a rebuild from single to dual axles. All the parts were well organized and packaged well and free shipping- thanks etrailer! Good service and value all around. I hauled the boat about 100 miles today and it all works perfectly. A vast improvement in performance.

One thing for me though....
I had to buy different fenders because I bought better tires and rims for this new axle which turned out to be slightly wider.
So the original fender would have cut into the tires.
I got everything from etrailer. Axle with brakes fully assembled, controller, fenders, wire harness, connections tires, time and more...and couldn't be happier with cust service, pricing and availability.

I wanted the largest axle that fits the wheels for my rv trailer and that is the 6000# axle, replacing a 4400# axle. FYI, I can upgrade the brakes to 7000# with different magnets but not sure the tires have that much traction. Received the parts on time and in good shape, even though the ups guy dropped the axle on concrete. Wish I wasn’t home to see that. After I placed the order there was some communications with etrailer and they delivered as promised! I have placed orders since then and will keep ordering due to continued good service.
The axle came with studs pressed in but I knocked them out and used nuts/bolts to bolt on the brake plate assemblies.
I cut off the spring seats and welded on new ones in the needed location, as planned. I could have ordered the axle with the spring seats where I needed them but I was in a hurry and figured this way was faster. And etrailer had the best price and had good service on many prior purchases.
Installed the axle and adjusted the brakes. Note, I soldered the wiring connections and sealed.
Performed a break in procedure and took the trailer on a long trip. During the trip the brakes started getting grabby and I had to dial back the trailer brakes. Once home, I adjusted the brakes and it took quite a bit of adjustment. From now on I will be prepared to adjust the brakes during trips. I expect the brakes to work better on the next trip. Honestly, this is the first trailer I have owned with brakes and am not used to needing to adjusting brakes.
Replaced a 3,000 lbs axle with this 5,200 lbs axle with electric brakes.
Was easy, quality was great. Brakes were easy to wire up and all is working.

Simple, easy install. Much better quality than axles originally installed on my trailer. Love the EZ lube hubs. I'm sure these axles will last a good 35 years judging by the quality.
Super fast shipping. Everything came as I ordered. Super easy to install. The only problem I had was with packing. When I opened one of my boxes the grease was packed at the bottom of two heavy boxes inside of a big box. The grease exploded and it was all over everything inside the box.
This is the third time I have ordered from etrailer they are very helpful and their price can’t be beat. The axle that I ordered was easy to find and etrailer clearly explained how to measure my old axle to insure I ordered the correct one.
I have ordered several items from etrailer over the years and have never been dissatisfied. These axles are exactly as described. I am replacing a set of 3.5K axles with these 7K axles for greater performance. The 3.5 axles were sufficient but when loaded they were at the max. I can run a heavier load range tire with these and also go from a 5 hole to a 8 hole wheel. The axles have bigger bearings, brakes, hubs, just all around a better set up. This trailer gets used approx. 40K miles per year, most of the time loaded with 3/4 ton trucks.
