Today we're going to take a look at the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System with the Trailer Tow Quick Connect Kit and the two Cameras. Now this backup camera system is perfect for the fifth wheel or travel trailer application where you want a backup camera on the back of the trailer and one reverse camera on the tow vehicle. The system starts with this seven inch TFT Digital LCD color monitor. It's one inch thin, has a nice flexible monitor mount that attaches to it. It does have the mirror image capability. Does also have the distance grid lines if you prefer.
They are optional and can be adjusted. It does use built-in speakers and an auto dimming feature. Has two channels with the automatic system switch and it does come with a wireless remote to operate it. Now the two backup cameras, one here and one right here, the first one, the larger one, is the external rear color camera. Has a 130 degree viewing angle. Does use 18 infrared lights to give you 50 feet of infrared night vision.
Does have a built-in microphone so you can actually hear besides seeing everything. It does have an IP69K rating which means it'll help keep out any dirt and moisture. Now this one here, the smaller one, that's the compact backup camera. Has 170 degree ultra wide viewing angle. Does have night vision and as you can see it's very small. It's a compact cube design so basically it's less than an inch in length, width, and depth.
Does have an IP68 rating so it does protect against complete continuous submersion in water. Now this all comes with all the wires and connectors and mounts that are needed. Now the Trailer Tow Quick Connect and Disconnect Kit is this portion right back here, all these cables here. It starts with the 26 foot vehicle side monitor cable right here. Have the 33 foot camera cable right here. The large one is the 66 foot trailer side camera cable and then this coiled cable right here is a 12 foot quick connect coil cable. Every thing in the kit look like good stuff haven't installed yet.
I just received my order and I was not disapointed. The camera and associated parts are all of high quality and I would not hesitate to order future supplies from etrailers. This is not to mention there fantastic customer service. My purchase was on back order and they kept me in the loop without any intervention from me. I installed a backup camera on my 40' 5th wheel travel trailer. LOVE it! Dialed in the guidelines, flipped the image to mirror view and can nail the tight parking spaces like a professional. Lets me keep an eye on the bikes on the bike rack too. The night vision feature is great. The microphone/speaker works well when I need a real person spotting (which is almost never now). Now my wife can just talk to me, no more yelling. Installation wasn't too difficult as the cable fit behind the weather strip along the corners of the coach. If you want to know what's in the blind spot behind you, good choice here. And the monitor has 2 more video connections to use too. Might add a hookup camera next. Anyway, buy it.
I have a pull behind camper and I like to see what is behind the camper as I go down the road. The camera is wired to an AUX switch so I can have it on when I need it. The camera is also great for backing the camper. The monitor is mounted to a block of wood to fit in two of the four cup holders so I can store it when not in use, out of sight.
I installed this in an F150 and 19ft trailer combination. The install went reasonably easily, after I had worked out how to route the wiring.
In general the item works ok but my main issue is how difficult it is to navigate the software that controls the image. It appears that the brightness setting is set too low out of the box, so in bright conditions (when the sun is out), it is not easy to see what is on the screen. Trying to adjust brightness has been almost impossible. The remote is not always making a connection with the unit and there appears to be no way to make adjustments without the remote. Do you have contact info for the manufacturer, or perhaps you've had previous feedback about this? Thanks.
Best price on web and order came sooner then expected with great tracking. System is very substantial and well made, better then expected. Easy install on a TT with Subaru Outback. Picture very clear with many easy controls on monitor. I highly recommend etrailer and this product.
This is an excellent rear view camera system. Because it is wired and not wireless, it is more work to install, requiring running wires the length of both the trailer and tow vehicle, including wiring into the tow vehicle's cab and power supply, and setting up a semi-permanent/removeable mount for the video display. However, there is no need to find a power supply at the trailer. The display itself is excellent, both daytime and at night and the optional distance bars on the display are very useful, both in parking the trailer and monitoring the blind spot when on the road. Having a microphone in the camera that provides sounds from the video display is a nice touch and quite handy when parking. The instructions are excellent, although there is one instruction left out that explains how the sound volume is controlled; obviously, the sound should be turned off when on the road. Overall an excellent system and highly recommended.
I installed this product on my motor home to help with the problem of hooking up to a trailer, and seeing what is directly behind the vehicle. Works great! The speaker connection works great for communication between the driver and person helping to get hooked up to the trailer. I also hooked it up to power on with the key so I can keep an eye on what is on the trailer, loose straps, something moving, etc. I highly recommend this product for those that use a trailer behind a bigger vehicle that you can't see out of the mirrors. Has enough cable to do a semi trailer if needed. Installation was very straightforward and easy. Just plug and play for most of it.
Excellent product. The installation instructions are in need of improvement. The manual is not spot on with monitor operation and a pig tail was included that had no mention in the instructions as to it's use. Install time is not short nor is it an easy job. I went with a hard wired system because the issues you may get with wireless become mute with this unit. I honestly can say that if wireless backup cameras get where they come close to a wired system I would go that route because the install is so much easier. All in all RVS has good products, service and the availability of parts and accessories if needed. This system is installed on a 21 foot + travel trailer pulled by a 1500 Ram.
Install is the only drawback on this system. Picture is clear and best of all always connected and no more blue screens! Will be switching out all my other systems to this one as soon as possible!
This system is great. A real stress reliever being able to see what is behind you. Lane changing & on ramps were a white knuckle ordeal on our road trips from Northern CA. to San Antonio TX. The truck & trailer we take was a beast to drive. Now it's a piece of cake. A LOT less stress. I highly recommend it.
Good clear view with an exceptional wide angle, so much better than mirrors. A bit time consuming to install cleanly but worth the price in time and money. Would recommend this to others.
