Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if chains might affect your ABS/ESP functionality, consult your owner's manual.

These chains are great for giving you extra traction in deep snow. But if you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice for more traction.

Glacier designed these chains specifically for duallies. Some chains on the market stretch to fit over both of the tires on your dual-wheel setup, but these chains have a dividing piece in the center that allows them to fit over each tire individually. This makes it easier to center the chains when you install them. Once you have the chains installed, just twist the built-in cams to easily tension them around your tires.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new snow chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Snow Chains

Installing tire chains is easy.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground, to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Cross chain connections should have the prongs facing away from the tire

2. Drape the chain over your dual tires, making sure that the prongs attaching the cross chains to the side chains face away from your sidewalls. Drive forward about half a tire rotation.

Connect chains on the back and front of the tire

3. On the back of the tire, pull the chain tight and hook the ends together. Repeat this on the center chain and the side chain on the front of the tire, then clamp the lever to fasten extra chain links and keep them from flapping as you drive.

Use tool to tighten cams on the sidewall chains

4. Insert the included tool into the cam and twist to tighten the sidewall chain. Twist as many cams as it takes to get a tight fit.

Rubber adjusters ensure a tight fit

5. Drive forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the chain tension. Tighten any loose cams.

If needed, rubber adjusters (sold separately) can help you get a tight fit. Make sure the hooks on the adjusters face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Great Service, Great product. Cant say enough about the staff.

by:

I haven't actually used them yet, but if I need them, they're there.

by:

Chains were just what I ordered. Arrived promptly. Unfortunately I did have to use them and they worked flawlessly. Would recommend them for anyone.

by:

Received on time, no problems with order. Fit perfectly. Instructions were clear. I haven't actually used these in the snow yet...just test fitted them.

by:

Got the snow chains very quickly which I needed since I have been traveling in Colorado lately. I has already started snowing there and you are required by law to have chains. They look like good quality chains.

by:

I ordered these for my dually truck and was not disappointed. I'm from California and went to big bear. First off I went at night and also during what everyone called the worst storm to hit big bear in over a decade. When I put these on it was like driving in perfect weather. I had a bunch of compliments on these from seemingly everyone. The chain installer and highway patrol to random people driving by honking and giving a thumbs up. The chains are sturdy and easy to put on and take off.

by:

I'm pretty impressed with the quality of these chains and like the cam type tightening system. They are easier to put on than anticipated and the installation video was pretty helpful. I installed these with snow on the ground and it was not bad.

Bought these to improve traction when plowing with an old 2 wheel drive truck and it made the big difference I was hoping for. They work!

Can't speak to how hey hold up over time, although I won't be putting a lot of miles on them. They seem to be built well enough to give me long life for my use. Price was the best I found and they came very quickly.

by:

I ordered tire chains Wednesday night at about 7pm and they arrived at my door in Texas on Friday of the same week at 12pm. Super fast shipping and it was FREE because the item I ordered qualified for it. Extremely happy with how fast it arrived. I havent had time to utilize the chains yet but once I do I will update this review. Noah is the rep that helped me over the phone and was very helpful and patient with all my questions. I will definitely be ordering more products from etrailer!

by:

Communications from etrailer were superb. They notified me of a late arrival, which was not a problem. Just letting me know is not the norm. Kudos.

However, the product was missing a key component and as far as I can see there is no option to even add it to the order. Bungie cords are needed to keep the chains in place. I now have to source these separately and hopefully get the correct ones.

The reason I know this is because I tested the product out as soon as I got it. Never wait until you need to chain up to test your chains.

by:

Chains fit well, are heavy duty, and the included tightening tool worked great. Cam tighteners are a must.
I would recommend these to others.
My old truck is now ready for winter.
The front tires chains are PWH221SC.

by:

These snow chains are fantastic!
We
use them on all three of our yard trucks.
Easy install, durable and virtually damage to concrete surfaces.
What else can you ask for..

by:

Tire chains are usually pretty generic. What makes these chains outstanding however are the latches. The long lever is easy to use with cold hands and/or gloves. They also make it easier to install the chains after the truck is stuck, which is usually sort of difficult. I hang these chains on all my trucks, and am a repeat customer many times over.

by:

These are good chains. My last set lasted a long time with no broken cross links. I just finally wore them out. I like the lever style latch on the outside rail since it gives a few more options when chaining up after I'm already stuck. :(

Thanks for fast delevery product looks great

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2016 Thor RV Built on Ford E-450 Chassis
We do have Class S tire chains that will fit your tire size of LT225/75R16 but none that are setup to fit both rear tires at the same time. However we do have a solution. What you can do is install a set of chains on the outside tires and still get great traction in the snow. For that we have the Titan Chains part # TC2319 which will fit your tire size, are pretty easy to install, and will give you great traction. That price is tough to beat on these. The only other set I would strongly...
