  • Solid Grip Forward: Ladder layout keeps traction steady when driving straight through drifts.

Features to know about

Climbing Steep Snowy Roads with Confidence: Twist Links Grip Deep in Snow

When the snow piles up and the roads turn slick, these Glacier tire chains keep your tires biting down. The twist link cross chains dig into deep snow for reliable forward traction, letting you climb or descend grades with control. The ladder-style pattern keeps the pull steady so you stay moving straight instead of slipping sideways when it matters most.

Quick Tightening in Cold Conditions: Built-In Cam Tighteners Lock Down Fast

No one wants to wrestle chains in freezing wind. These come with side cams that make tensioning simple—just insert the tool and twist to snug the chain evenly around your tire. The cams pull the links tight, so you don’t waste time rechecking tension. For an even more secure fit, you can add rubber adjusters (sold separately).

Durable Build for Harsh Winter Use: Case-Hardened Low-Carbon Steel Construction

Snow, ice, and road grit can wear chains down fast, but these are built tough to handle it. The low-carbon steel links are case hardened to resist abrasion and damage from repeated winter driving. That means you can count on them to hold up through season after season of snow duty.

Ready for Heavy Snow Days: Fits 20" – 24-1/2" Tires

Whether you’re heading into a mountain snow zone or tackling a long haul through icy highways, this set covers a wide range of larger tire sizes. With two chains included, you’ll have dependable traction when conditions get rough.

Note

  • To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if chains might affect your ABS/ESP functionality, consult your owner's manual.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Ford F-250 Super Duty
Had to pull the chains out for the first time last month when my 1991 F-250 got held up on a very slick and steep ice covered road. They fit over my LT215/85R-16 Firestone Winterforce LT E tires very nicely and on the first try with no problems. I have only used chains on smaller cars before this but these installed very easily with the caming links and included tool for tightning. These chains seem to have a good range of adjustment and were also easy to remove. They seem sturdy and well made and of course traction was very solid once they were installed. Highly recommended.

Great. I put the chains wet in plastic bags for a year and they hardly rusted at all. Installed them on my larger 23585R-16 tires and they do fit that size too.

Although I haven't used them in ice or snow yet, the snow chains appear to be of great quality and are very easy to install. The cam tighteners work nicely and hold the chain on the tire with no slack. Etrailer.com was great to work with. Ordering was easy. They kept me updated via email during the shipping process. They upgraded my free shipping and I received my order in 2 business days instead of 7 as projected originally. I can tell that they care about their customers.

I got them after the big snowice storm we had here last year. I only had the opportunity to use them one time since getting them and really just went out then to try them out in some slush. I like them and enjoy the fact that they are in the truck at all times. It doesnt snow/ice much here, but Im ready if it does. Its bad to be like this, but I hope it snows this year just so I can use my chains? Ha!I have told others about your company and encouraged them to get chains from you.

Excellent chains on 2005 GMC Sierra. Cam Locks are good but you really need to use a tire bungee or equivalent to pull the chains tighter. I use wire ties for the extra length of chain on the inside and outside firewall. Turns the truck into a total snow beast, I have yet to get stuck and have never used the winch I bought for that purpose.

Sold the GMC, bought a 2011 Tundra 4.6L DoubleCab. These chains fit a little better on that vehicle. This time the chains are on an all season radial, not snow tires. Makes the truck invincible as a plow machine. I install them on a level garage floor and make very sure they are on super tight.

Perfect fit for my van.

I drive a 2016 144" 2wd, high top Sprinter van. During the summer it moves a lot of ice cream, via 400lb ice cream carts. During the winter, it moves me to Mammoth. When the conditions are good (for skiing).....road conditions suck...super cold and icy.....395 from Bishop to Mammoth is often closed, and if open...chains or 4x4 snow tires mandatory.

I've purchased other products here...This site consistently provides useful revues and sizing fitment advise...I also took etrailer's recommendation to my regular tire guy to confirm is was a good match- which he confirmed.

*Any Sprinter specific owners reading this.....the stock tires felt super sketchy in icy high sierra without the chains. But with them on, and, since I roll with a 750lb. lift gate weighing down the back end.....back tires chained up.....I felt really safe. I did need to trim a 3-4 links off to stop the inside access chain links banging on the axel (bolt cutters from Mammoth Chevron) after a day of riding around on them to make sure I had correct fit. This level of fitment should be expected.

**I never review things online. I believe the email from etrailer, which led me to this review is the first i've received from them.....maybe 1 year since I bought the chains?....perfect amount of contact.

***Attached is a picture of me at Mammoth, because who wants to see a picture of well fitting chains.

2017 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. These chains were easy to install and fit solidly. They do not have the cam system so you will need bungee cords. I set up 2 rubber bungees per tire and added a hook in the middle. Works perfect. They fit my 285/65/20s with room to spare. I have not used these in the field yet but I grew up using tires chains and these are no different.

The order was handled very fast, and I got the snow chains in no time.
Those are chains for big vehicle, they are heavy and sturdy.
Comparing to diamond pattern chains that I had perilously, the new chains almost impossible to tangle. It takes just 30 seconds to lay them correctly on the ground.
In my garage I put them as instructed in the video on etrailer web page. But in real life scenario, on highway shoulder, I would probably lay them down on the ground, drive 2-3 feet forward and try to close the chains on top of the wheel (versus crawling on the ground and trying to reach behind the wheel).
The tension system is simple and intuitive. Comparing again to diamond pattern chains, this tension system is much more robust.

The only downside of those chains, they miss caring bag. The bag they where shipped in, has no zipper, and cannot be closed once open.

Chains fit well, are heavy duty, and the included tightener tool worked great. Cam Tighteners are a must. Makes the job of putting the chains on easier.
I bought the dual wheel version chains for the back end as well. We tend to get ice under snow on a gravel lane. These chains should keep me moving.
I would recommend these to others.

Ordered for custom size truck tires. The fit and quality seem pretty good, although we did order some tensioners from Amazon, and had to buy a small tool bag for carrying the chains.
by:
So far they are pretty easy to figure out and use. Recommend getting bungies or something to tighten them, the glacier star tensioner works well. We tried them in dry conditions and then painted the chain loop that needs to hook...that was great...also painted the cam twist tool red so we can find it easily.

The product that arrived to me did not match the description on the website and had to be returned twice. Despite that e trailer customer service is pretty awesome.

Everything about this order from browsing the eTrailer web site, to calling and talking to customer service (George), to ordering and receiving the tire chains was excellent. I got what I ordered and the chains fit my vehicle perfect. Thanks to eTrailer for understanding what customer service is all about.

Delivered the wrong size chains. I ordered 255/55/20 I received chains for 15 inch rims. Dealing with a Phillip H at your company no positive solutions.

The bags that come with the tires chains does not list every size that they fit. These chains will fit with the 255-55-20 tires.

Installed these on both tires and it only took under 30 minutes. Watched a online video and installation went exactly as in the vid. Terrific fit on the 03 Ranger 15" 2 wheel drive vehicle.
Used 5 spoke tighteners and everything is ready to go. Drove a couple of hundred feet down the drive and all went well.

I gave them 4 stars because I haven’t used them yet. I put them on my truck and they seem to go on easy enough in my driveway. The can tensioners seem to get them pretty tight.
by:
The chains worked great in the deep snow we were hit with over the weekend. I was the only one on my road that was able to get off the mountain. The grades here are steep and without the chains you can't get up the hills. My driveway has a 9 percent grade and I didn't even slip a tire going up it.

Seem to fit well, used on a defender 110 with 255/60/R20. Plenty of adjustment range.

Great chains! Get them on as tight as possible with all the cams facing out, drive a short way and then tighten the cams where needed. Very easy install and the grip is excellent - got us safely through the snowstorm that just hit Tahoe.

If you have been searching the internet for tire chains, look no further. I had recently decided to purchase a set of chains for my 2007 Toyota Tacoma Pre Runner. After an extensive search with the local auto retailers, and unhappy with the price they were charging, I had come across etrailer.com on the internet. Not only was etrailer.com cheaper by $30+ than everyone else, but immediately after my purchase, the customer service sales rep (George J) had emailed me with the invoice and had also indicated that he had upgraded the shipping to "expedited" which was greatly appreciated given the fact that he did not charge for this added higher level of customer service. The chains arrived right on time as promised via UPS. The quality is perfect. Almost polished in appearance with galvanized hardened steel. Also, they included a unique feature that I had not seen before "Cam Tighteners". If you haven't seen them before just watch the online video! They work great. Overall, I would highly recommend this product to anyone. I really appreciated the communication with George J. He kept me in the loop from start to finish. Given the fact that this purchase is "just a set of tire chains" but I really appreciated communication and price.

Absolutely perfect though given my locality, I have only had to use them a few times

These chains are excellent. They're a bit tricky to get on tight (so maybe not so great if you will be taking them off and putting them on repeatedly) but once on and secure, they are perfect for the plow truck.

I bought tire chains for the ice that I hope I don't have to use. Etrailer was easy to use and my order that I placed at 5:04 pm still shipped on UPS that night & I received it the next day. Awesome!

Never had to use yhem but we have them if we need them. They are fairly easy to install so i am very appreciative of that. We thought they are well worth the price we paid. Our children live in illinois so we are sure we will need them sooner or later.

eTrailer has asked me to review this product, which I purchased last year.

Unfortunately, I have been fortunate and have not found myself in road conditions requiring the use of chains, and therefore I cannot attest to its quality or performance at this time.

I keep them in a toolbag in the truck, along with the Multi-Arm Rubber adjusters I also purchased.

I rate 5 star because they are still in new condition and show no signs of deterioration.
