Don't let thieves steal your cargo or tailgate. This powered tailgate lock wires into the existing power door locks, so when you lock your truck, you lock your tailgate. Installs inside vehicle's OEM handle to provide security for valuables.
Features:
Frustrate tailgate thieves and cargo bandits with this power tailgate lock. Use the Pop & Lock with your truck-bed cover or camper shell whenever you need to lock up valuables in your truck bed.
This sturdy, stainless steel lock resists corrosion and is custom fit to your vehicle. The Pop & Lock mounts permanently inside your truck's tailgate handle, so thieving varmints can't pop it out. The lock is installed using basic tools - no welding or drilling is necessary. And the tailgate lock wires directly into your powered lock system using quick splice connectors. You activate the Pop & Lock using your keyless remote - lock your truck doors, and you lock your tailgate. No more fumbling for keys or going back to make sure you locked up. Just hit your door-lock button and your tailgate is secure.
A new tailgate can cost hundreds - this powered lock saves you the cost and aggravation of replacing a stolen tailgate.

Don't let thieves steal your cargo or tailgate. This powered tailgate lock wires into the existing power door locks, so when you lock your truck, you lock your tailgate. Installs inside vehicle's OEM handle to provide security for valuables.I have a 2012 Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4
Bought this for the security and convenience.
Install was pretty simple.
There's an online video but it's 4 years old and there is no longer a relay but the rest is true...just run the large harness wires inside the vehicle.
The base mounting plate that fits over the two bolts at the tailgate handle didn't line up...just spread the "feet" a lil til it lined up and installed the nuts.
I ran the wires through the same hole as my back up camera and through the same protector plate in the body of the truck to make it seamless.
Zip tie every 8 inches or so...I used a lot more zip ties than those provided...get a bag..they're cheap and you will use them!
I wrapped the long harness in the wire loom as I had some...I do recommend!
I ran the wire harness with the plug down from by my firewall towards the ground instead of trying to feed up from the bottom as I was by myself. I had an amp put in so I used the same hole as the power wire to the amp through the firewall. There is a "spongy" plug that will lead right behind the dash on my truck.
I pulled off the kick panel/step guard to expose the insulation hiding the wires. Two push pins to pop out...not as easy as you would think...but once I got them out the harness was attached to the side of the body. There's a "y" of wires the wires the directions said to use were tan/white and tan/green. I spliced the green wire from the pop & lock to the tan/white and blue to tan/green. when I hooked the harness together and tried it it worked perfectly but on the driver door lock so one push of the remote button unlocked the driver door and tailgate...no big deal to me but you may want to try the other wires to work off the passenger doors or two pushes of the remote?
Once I was sure everything worked right I started to map out running the wires...this is not as straight forward as it may seem. There are many "clips" holding in the brake lines and I securely but not so hard to move the lines attached the wire to them running along the frame as much as possible. the tricky part was where the long gas tank sits from about midway of the rear driver door to the rear wheel well. I tried going over the top of the gas tank...NO GOOD!
Went back to the brake lines and the frame and with a lot of cussing and many trys I was able to get the zip ties over and back to be able to secure in that very tight of spaces along the frame.
Save the long zip ties for the area around the rear wheel. There is a mounting plate for the lines and it rides up on the wheel arch so having a lil longer zip tie makes a big difference in being able to hold the wire in place and grab the tie and feed it so you can tighten it!
I had a little wire left from both pieces so I just doubled it against itself and zip tied it to the electrical harness wires to the brake lights and such making sure to leave the clip area open so if I ever need to disconnect I don't have to cut the zip tie
Installed this kit on my 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. The kit contained everything I needed to complete the install.
There is one small probelm with my particular year and model truck. The instructions explain to use 1 of two possible wire sets. Neither one of the two options (wire colors) are present in the harness. I ended up taking the door card off and check for wire colors on the lock actuator. I, then, tapped into the wires in the main harness and all was good. I used the wire pair for the rear driver side door which means that the tail gate will only unlock when you push the unlock button twice. I did that on purpose but one could easily find the wires for the front door actuators. All in all a very easy install and I love it.
I have not had a chance to install it yet due to sickness. I have looked at the product and it looks like a good item.
As soon as I can get it installed I will be glad to give further information. I do want to apologize for not getting it installed sooner after etrailer went to the extra trouble to get it to me as fast as they did. It is a very good company to buy from.
Thanks Art Bennett.

well, its doing very well. It is still on the shelf where I put it a year ago when I got it. IM sorry to say I just have not been able to install it because of some medical problems. I can however saw that it is a very good product because I have had one on another truck before and loved it. Thanks for asking.
Not as happy with this product as I had hoped I would be. The tailgate handle sticks open a lot now with this product installed. I have to physically push the tailgate handle back in after opening the tailgate. This has actually caused issues, if i do not push the handle firmly closed my tailgate will actually open while driving down the road... very unsafe.
High quality wire in protective casing. Plenty of wire to get to the front of the truck to tie into the factory wiring by the drivers feet. Unit installs very quickly and is very straight forward. It is nice to know that the bed is locked when the cab is locked. No more wondering if I remembered to lock the tailgate with the key.
Received quickly! The product was seriously simple to install! Took no time at all! Solves the problem of having to go to multiple stores in one trip and being able to lock things up that you've already purchased from the previous store(s). Would definitely order again if the need ever arises! (Like the wife getting her own truck...) Thanks for providing such an awesome product! Will recommend to everyone!
Have owned for other vehicles as well works perfect easy to install
it is the simplest kit I have ever installed and one year later it works like new
