1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look together at this aluminum Margay trailer wheel. Now this aluminum wheel with this Margay Series five spoke design in gun metal gray is durable, lightweight, and rust proof. The automotive grade clear coat on the front is going to do a great job of protecting against scuffs and scratches, and this aluminum wheel features beveled stud holes, which are going to help keep this wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. This is going to eliminate the need for constant re-tightening of the lug nuts. As you can see here, the valve stem is included and this wheel does meet DOT standards and SAEJ-1204 standards.
And just to go over the dimensions of this wheel, the diameter, measuring bead seat to bead seat, is going to be 15 inches and the width, again, measuring from bead seat to bead seat is five inches. And our bolt pattern is 5 on four and a half inches. And in case you don't know, the first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes, and the second number is the diameter in inches of the circle on which the bolt holes sit. So to determine the bolt circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, as we have here, you're simply going to measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. Now, the wheel stud size is a half an inch by 20.
This wheel has a capacity of 2,150 pounds. The center cap is sold separately, but if you decide to pick one up, you do wanna make sure that it fits the pilot hole diameter of 3.19 inches. We bought a new travel trailer and discovered that the spare was just a plain black rim and the two wheels on the ground were nice mags. We like to rotate the tires including the spare so we called etrailer and even though the one they had did not match the two on the ground it was close. It's a single axle so it would not matter.
Great price on an aluminum wheel I plan to use as a spare. Not an exact match to my current Legend wheels but close enough, especially for a spare wheel and looks great.
