No guesswork here. This wheel uses the common 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern with a 4.27" pilot diameter and zero offset, so it lines up easily with modern hubs. That makes it a simple choice when you need a direct swap that fits right the first time.
With a true zero offset, the hub mounting surface sits right in the middle of the wheel for even load distribution across both sides. That balanced design helps maintain stable tracking on the road and reduces unwanted vibration when rolling at speed.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Dexstar 15 inch by 6 inch silver spoke steel trailer wheel with the 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this is a sturdy steel construction. It is an eight-spoke design wheel and it has excellent corrosion resistance 'cause it uses a two-step finishing process, which will include an e-coat primer first, and then a silver powder coat finish over that. It is a high-quality wheel. It does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications.
Now if you notice the center cap is not included, we do sell the center cap separately. If you do want one, you do wanna get one that will have the same diameter as this pilot hole because when you install that cap, it'll go through this hole. The diameter on the pilot hole is 4.27 inches. This wheel is made by Dexstar, which is made in the US. A few dimensions on this we're gonna measure is the diameter and the width.
And when you measure the diameter, you're gonna measure inside to inside because that's where the bead seats are. Basically when a tire is mounted on here, the bead seats will sit right here. So the diameter is measuring bead seat to bead seat, so inside to inside. So if we take out our tape measure, and if we go inside to inside, there's your 15 inch diameter. The width will be the same way, bead seat to bead seat or inside to inside, and there's your six inches wide.
Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel like this that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty easy because if you look, the lug holes are directly across from each other. So if you go to measure, pick any hole, measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it, on this wheel, it'll measure 5-1/2 inches. So it's a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,860 pounds.
But that should do it for a look at the Dexstar 15 inch by 6 inch silver spoke steel trailer wheel with the 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

The wheel I purchased is working out well. I can ‘t say i have actually had my spare tire and wheel on the road as I haven’t experienced a flat tire yet and hopefully will not. But it is good to know I have the equipment on the ready if I ever need it. If you trailer to any degree, I would highly recommend that you do some research, and find an affordable tire, in the size you need, match it with a good wheel, and mount it onto your trailer. You never know when you will have a flat tire, and having a spare with you could help avoid a lot of hassle.
