thank you, that's super helpful, the only thing I will add is, we don't want basic rims, we want a nicer looking :) Aluminum or aluminum with some black. Any suggestions?

From the pictures I have of your 2012 Trails West 2 trailer, it is a dual axle trailer. If this is the case, each wheel maximum weight capacity has to be a minimum of 1,625 if the gross vehicle weight rating is at 6,500 pounds. This is because each wheel capacity contributes to the overall weight capacity of the trailer. It is important to note that the tires should be rated for the actual gross towing weight capacity of the trailer and not the empty weight of the trailer. The gross towing weight capacity is the weight of the trailer with all cargo/horses loaded.
Since you mention that you have a 6-bolt lug pattern, you most likely have the common 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. For a great 15-inch wheel, that is the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 # AM20535. Each of these wheels has a weight capacity of 2,830 pounds, so it is plenty of capacity you need. It has a center pilot diameter of 4.27" and is compatible with standard 1/2"-20 wheel bolts.
As far as keeping your tires, you will be able to keep your same tires as long as they are compatible with a 15" x 6" rim.
