Features to know about

Vintage Look That Brings Old Trailers Back to Life: Star-Pattern Silver Steel Wheel

This 13" x 4-1/2" wheel brings that classic star-pattern style back into play. It’s the Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel, designed for a 4 on 9.44" bolt pattern and finished in silver powder coat over an e-coat primer. That means you get the authentic vintage look plus reliable protection against corrosion for years of use.

Built Strong for Everyday Towing: 1,315-lb Load Rating with DOT Approval

Confidence matters when you’re rolling under load. This wheel is rated for 1,315 lbs and meets Department of Transportation specifications, so it’s built to handle real-world towing demands without compromise. The sturdy steel construction gives it the backbone needed for hauling gear or long trips on the highway.

Fitment That Keeps Things Aligned: +5 mm Positive Offset

The wheel’s +0.5" (5 mm) positive offset tucks the mounting surface slightly closer to the trailer frame, keeping your tires positioned just right. It’s a subtle but important detail that helps ensure proper clearance and balanced alignment when paired with compatible tires.

Clean Finish That Lasts: Silver Powder Coat Over E-Coat Primer

Road grime, rain, and humidity can do a number on unprotected metal, but this wheel’s finish holds up against it all. The silver powder coat sits over an e-coat base layer for double protection from rust and wear. It keeps that bright vintage shine even after years of towing duty.

Versatile Tire Compatibility: Works with Common 13" Trailer Tires

With a rim size of 13" diameter x 4-1/2" wide, this wheel pairs well with several popular trailer tire sizes like ST175/80R13 or ST185/80R13. Whether outfitting a rebuild or refreshing an older setup, it’s a straightforward match that makes sourcing the right tire easy.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

by:

My wheel arrived on time and relatively fast. The wheel was a Dexstar trailer wheel which is hard to find. My service was excellent and I would recommend this company any time. Retired auto tech.

Thanks for stocking these, etrailer!

The etrailer web site was easy navigate and there was quite a bit of info and specs so that I could get the correct part the first time. I really liked that they had info on how to measure the wheels so there was no guess work. The shipping options were great. My order shipped the same day and I didn't get it ordered until the afternoon and it only took 4days to get it in Idaho. Thanks etrailer for a job well done!

by:

Exactly what I needed for my camper. The detailed description on line allowed me to ensure the rim was an exact replacement. Also, shipping was incredibly quick and everything was well packaged. This was my first order from etrailer, but based on my experience, it will NOT be my last. Thanks!

by:

Hard to find bolt pattern for an older trailer. Has held up great so far this year and now one of the older rims that is more questionable can be the spare

Still holding up like a champ after a few more thousand miles. Will purchase again if another rim is questionable. These are great upgrades to old rusty rims

by:

Great product. Definitely expensive compared to other brands but this is the only company I found that still makes wheels of this size and design to fit my vintage 1985 Prowler camper. I Would recommend to anyone needing a replacement wheel or spare.

by:

On the expensive side BUT, If you need it you need it LOL!!
They did ship quick and it is good quality!

by:

Rim as advertised, good website for information and payment. Item shipped quickly. Great quality, new replacement for a very old, hard to find rim. Pricy but when you can't find another option, acceptable.

  • Replacement Trailer Wheel for a 1984 Prowler Camper with 13 Inch Wheels
The Dexter vintage wheel, # AM20395, has a bolt pattern of 4 on 9.44 inches. That means that there are 4 bolt holes and they measure 9.44 inches from the center of one to the center of the hole across from it. It is also 15 inches in diameter so it may not be the correct wheel for your 1984 Prowler. If you have a 13 inch wheel with the 4 on 9.44 bolt pattern and it is 4-1/2 inches wide from bead seat to bead seat with a 1/2 inch positive offset then you would use # AM20208. I have also...

  • Recommended Replacement Tire for B78-13 ST tires on Starcraft Pop-Up
The B78-13 ST tire size translates to a ST175/80-13 size tire. The overall height of the ST175/80/13 tire is 24 inches and the overall width is approximately 7 inches. A comparable tire would be the Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # AM10199, which is 24.1" tall and 7" wide. These would be a good replacement tire for your Starcraft pop-up camper.

  • Recommended ST175/80D13 Trailer Tire w/ a 4 Lug Wheel
Hey Tom! Not sure where you're getting the 3.25" or the 2.75" center to center distance, but with the exception of the item # AM20208 which is a 4 on 9.44, all of our 4 lug wheels measure 4" on center. For a ST175/80D13 Tire with a 4 lug wheel, I recommend the Loadstar item # AM3S120. This is a load range c tire with a 1,360 lbs capacity. It has a top speed of 81 mph.

  • Will Hubcaps Fit Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel
Hi Jason; if you can find a hubcap made to fit the Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel # AM20208 you can certainly use it. However, we don't carry any hubcaps designed to fit this wheel style. A hubcap like the # PX1307SS is designed to fit a conventional wheel with a raised section to press on the hubcap. If you can't find on elsewhere you may be able to create mounting tabs to hold one like this in place.

  • Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel # AM20208 or Hub Upgrade
The Dexstar wheels are still in use by a lot of folks and as you already identified, available for purchase here at etrailer.com too under # AM20208. As for advantage or disadvantage to swapping out the hub it is in large part a matter of aesthetics. I would note that the way the Dexstar wheel is designed, the weight rests on the hub directly within that cut out and not on the lug bolts, some do prefer this design as an advantage. We have a wide selection of hub assemblies available...

  • Will Dexstar Vintage Steel Trailer Wheel AM20208 Replace a 13 inch Dayton Fayette Wheel
If the center to center bolt spacing of your existing wheels is 9.44 inches, and 4-1/2 inch wide wheels with a + 5mm offset would work with your trailer, the # AM20208 wheels would work well for you. Rather than having the wheel mounting pad (surface of the wheel that touches the hub) centered midway along the width of the wheel, the positive offset actually tucks the tire closer in to the trailer by 5mm.

Thank you for the photo of your converted trailer. Nice! Trailer axles usually leave the factory with a sticker or place installed directly on the axle beam that indicates the manufacturer, part number and weight rating. You can check the axles on your trailer for this sticker or plate. Given the age of the trailer these may be long gone. If none is present on the axles then you can note the axle diameter as this can get you in the ballpark in terms of weight rating. An axle diameter...
